Well the Oxford dic definition of monitoring is 'to watch and check something over a period of time in order to see how it develops, so that you can make any necessary changes' so not sure what part of the semantics you are taking issue with there Ed?! ?

Well as the definition implys it is 'over a period of time to see how it develops' is it not then beyond the realms of possibility that the headline (Rated is simply forwarding on a rumours page) is referring to the fact the club will be 'monitoring' him the entirety of the transfer window?! ?

Bit harsh Ed, monitoring in football is usually whether the club that own the player are willimg to sell and if the player himself is happy to come to your club.
