Looks like we've been offered Doc on loan if Tottenham ITKs are anything to go by.

Reading that we have had a €30 million bid turned for Benoît Badiashile

2.) 08 Jan 2022 09:17:32
When you want to make the next step and you sell your best players, the next step never happens,” Lage admitted.

Heh heh - he could be the new Messiah.

No he's just a naughty boy - sorry couldn't help myself.

Remember when Nuno took over if you had said to me that the only three regular home grown players the following season would be a midfielder on his way out, a free transfer from Norwich and a wing back who can't get into the Irish team I would have called you crazy.

But Coady, Bennett and Doc have shown that under Nuno you don't have to be a big name you just have to work hard and not make mistakes while sticking to his plan. If you can't keep up like Batth then you don't get to play.

WindowWolf

1.) 01 Jan 2019 09:47:29
Proves what a great coach he really is.

2.) 01 Jan 2019 17:48:22
Yes Nuno knows what he wants and it works.

I have been looking at relegation odds Wolves are 40/1 which might sound mean but actually that puts us 7th with only the top 6 usual suspects longer odds Everton Leicester Newcastle Palace all shorter the clever money thinks we're staying up.

WindowWolf

1.) 25 Sep 2018 13:59:25
We are equal 7th (with Watford) to win the league. But it's 500/ 1 so don't get too carried away. Bookies giving short odds on us beating Leicester tonight. Let's hope they're right.

07 Aug 2018 11:37:42
Still coming across bits of rumour about Vida and Dendonker either will do both apparently in the UK so expect they will join someone

Rose also in the market Spurs think he's peaked and a good chance to sell but he will be expensive

Guedes leaving PSV but price too high for Wolves.

WindowWolf

1.) 07 Aug 2018 13:41:56
What do the emerging top players all have.
Pace and dribbling skills
I’m talking about MBappe, Rashford, Sane etc

Pace is the one thing you can’t defend against. Traore will be one of Wolves best signings.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 14:32:13
Last thing heard on Vida was that Wolves were the only team to of tabled an offer albeit below Besiktas's asking price of £20mil, player likely to holding out on Arsenal but they need to offload either Welbeck or Mustafi first to free up a fee.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 17:05:21
If we make a bid for Vida I hope it includes a clause that requires him to have a hair cut!
That Rodney-tail does not shout out 'nasty uncompromising hard tackling defender' to me!

4.) 07 Aug 2018 18:07:23
1877 - would generally agree with your comment about the importance of pace, but having said that Mo Camara was probably the fastest player I've seen at the Mol!

Well spotted Window. 36 and counting.

27 Apr 2023 21:28:49
The bottom 9 is now bottom 10 and it has split into 2 groups of 5

We are in the 11 to 15 group hopefully that's how it will stay

We might even catch Chelsea. An amazing turnaround under Julen because we were bottom and 4 points from safety in December

WindowWolf

1.) 28 Apr 2023 02:05:19
It's an interesting one because you should never feel safe below the 40 point mark, that was one thing Mick always said and he was right. However when you look at it in real terms for us to go down at this stage at least two (more likely three) of the teams below us would have to win 3 out of 5/6 of there last games! For context here it's worth noting that 4 out of the bottom five have won 7 games or less ALL season! Now as usual Lope is right, that doesn't mean we can stop and if we want any chance of building something next season we have to kick on in these last five games. But in real terms we should be safe, in truth only by virtue of the poor teams down there mind! The report card for this season will still read as 'must do better', I think Lope has already shown that he's up to the task of a better report this time next season! COYW ?

2.) 28 Apr 2023 10:00:37
True its been a poor season, and hard to pick decisive games but dropping 6 points to Leicester and 6 to Leeds seems to me to be why we're in this mess as deep as we are, throw in the 3 to Bournemouth as well if you want just to really compound matters.

Hopefully we'll get through it but f we do let's hope the cracks aren't just papered over. Had we got those 15 points mentioned it would have masjed the deficiencies, as we would have been close to Euro qualification.

3.) 28 Apr 2023 10:42:18
Agree 100% Bully. I think it's also worth noting that although the board backed JL in January, to come in as a manager used to being at the top end of a league and into a country he's not managed in before things could have gone pair shaped but he's done a good job so far. I was apprehensive about hiring him admittedly and I'm glad to be proven wrong.

There is a good foundation to build upon for next season to improve on this one, but I'd expect a dew players will be moved on and after the spending of the past 2 windows it will be interesting to see what impact that has on funds for the summer that aren't generated by sales.

4.) 28 Apr 2023 12:18:30
We would be 8th had the season started when JL came so that fares well for feeling good about next season.

5.) 28 Apr 2023 14:00:22
Good article in the Telegraph this morning by John Percy about Wolves and Julen. Worth a read. I'm pleased that we can feel confident about our status though I didn't feel we were going to go down anyway ( I said so on here ages ago ). I expect next season to be very different and feel Julen will take us on a new journey we can look forward to with confidence. Leicester and Leeds will not take 6 points off us again for the foreseeable I reckon!

6.) 28 Apr 2023 14:18:28
Particularly if both get relegated, Ken, which isn't beyond the realms of possibity even if Southampton, Forest and Everton are currently the most likely trio.

7.) 28 Apr 2023 15:20:57
Old Wulf i'd prefer them to stay up so we can have our points back.
Everton I think will struggle now particularly as they are probably still looking for the players that Isak sent out to the car park on his great dribble the other night. They are probably still bewildered!

05 Mar 2023 19:21:22
When I see scores like today at Anfield I always think that we are really not such a bad team

WindowWolf

1.) 05 Mar 2023 19:34:59
Haha, you beat me to it Window buddy! Thank god that wasn't us cause at this stage of Lopes team development that REALLY could have set us back weeks! ?

2.) 06 Mar 2023 14:39:57
If things go bad that's what you get when you have an above average quota of prima donnas.

3.) 06 Mar 2023 15:27:32
It's one of those freak results like when Villa put a sackful past Liverpool, as BB says lucky it didn't come a game earlier.

21 Dec 2022 23:05:07
Thoughts on yesterday

Play was not as bad as it seemed first time around especially the second half when Raul and Hwang were on

Too much ball watching by strikers. Look at teams who did well in Qatar not must Argentina but Korea and Morocco they attacked with a belief that the right ball would come in to the box they didn't wait outside the box for a long shot

Ok that's Neves speciality but we need more link up play like we had with Jota and even Podense under Nuno

Costa doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as any of them and Semedo doesn't either

I want to see JL give this team some belief and bite look at Argentina ok they have Messi but their other forward plays for Brighton so we should be looking at that kind of level at least

WindowWolf

1.) 22 Dec 2022 07:54:04
I'm thinking young Babacar Traore if fit for Everton game will give us that energy and drive in midfield.

2.) 22 Dec 2022 08:58:06
A midfield of Neves, Nunes and B.Traore should have enough energy and skill to be comfortable against most teams.

3.) 22 Dec 2022 10:17:50
Winton on paper that should be one of the best midfield inside the top 6 I would think.

4.) 22 Dec 2022 11:17:17
Should be outside obviously!

5.) 22 Dec 2022 11:47:01
I also agree with window,
Would like a solid base and at least 2 forward and/Or forward thinking players to play with freedom and desire to create and score.

I think our squad needed an overhaul at some point and it started to happen under Lage last summer it didn't work out how fosun wanted and now lage and sellars have gone a new recruitment team in place everything imo is set up to give us all what we want.
Imo we all should look forward with mostly confidence than fear of the unthinkable.
The players we have along with players to arrive surely how I think is the best way to think.

Think posters underestimate the consequences of the pandemic how it effected the world how it it put a huge hurdle infront of our progress.
Not using it as an excuse for mistakes from within the clubs direction with sellars and shi new roles but I think it did have a big effect.
Now 2 years or so after the pandemic we are imo ready to be a force again up the top end of the league.

6.) 22 Dec 2022 12:28:53
The first half was underwhelming WW but that's fine as Lops needed to see his players in a competitive game. The important thing was that he spotted the problems, made the changes and from there we looked far more likely to score.

Totally agree about Costa and Semedo though. Maybe Costa needs better service but Semedo's performances are too inconsistent.

7.) 22 Dec 2022 13:49:17
If the first half was a practice match Longmynd then that's fine

Costa does need better service but it takes two to tango - how is he not calling for it or setting up one twos etc like we see the best teams do

Fix that and we're awesome!

8.) 22 Dec 2022 15:38:58
You're quite right WW, for me Costa is a shadow of his former self and doesn't attack the box like Jimenez but I think Lopetegui had to play him. However, if Jimenez is as fit as he looked, I don't think Costa should start again. That birth should be shared by Jimenez / Cunha, assuming he is as good as we are led to believe.

9.) 22 Dec 2022 22:04:59
The best Costa has played is when he came on as a sub against West Ham, use him as an impact player for 20/30 mins at the end of a game if needed. Don’t think he can handle a full game or even 70/80 mins now

20 Dec 2022 21:45:01
A win is a win but seriously we're bringing world cup players off the bench and we had 80 percent of posession and still couldn't score from open play till the dying seconds

JL has a lot of work to do

WindowWolf

1.) 20 Dec 2022 21:51:52
Beggars belief

2.) 20 Dec 2022 22:15:40
Podence is terrible ATM, he has to go for me

3.) 20 Dec 2022 22:34:06
The only players who can hold their heads high tonight are Neves and Bueno. The rest of the starting eleven weren't good enough.

4.) 20 Dec 2022 22:34:47
Sick if his flicks and tricks which never come off.

5.) 20 Dec 2022 23:32:14
Where would we be without Neves. God only knows. Thought Guedes was shocking tonight and podence so frustrating. Costa is definitely looking fitter but feeding off scraps despite all the possession. Semedo also poor. Hwang looked sharp and eager but again messed up a glorious chance right at the end. It's difficult to see that sort of performance beating any premier league opposition. We need to find something/someone that can freshen up this team and show some real fight and spirit. Someone that hasn't been and will not be affected by all of the players that don't really want to be at wolves right now. This January is the most crucial window since fosun took over. Let's pray they get it right.

6.) 21 Dec 2022 05:05:50
Only listened on the radio but the impression I got was that colllins/kilman not secure, semedo can't defend and dosnt concentrate, pods too many tricks that don't come off, guedes not up to it. Mouts abit long in the tooth now, adama critiqued but didn't recieve service. Hwang looking more like it. Neves and Beano the biz. Costa not getting ball where and when he wants it then obviously abit slower. Raul took his pen superbly and RAN finished well (although he never looks overly happy). Then tactically we were effectively pushing on 10 men and not sitting abit deeper to try and draw them out but even when neves/moutininho did at start of second Gillingham still wanted to wait for pens and waste time. It's not what we'll see on boxing day and with more open play. We need some big performances and from hearing it described some players are out of their comfort zones to put that in. 2-3 incomers and a couple of farewells I think.

7.) 21 Dec 2022 06:57:19
We just got to rough it out till reinforcements are in.
With JL the players brought in I see no reason as to why they won't be the right ones.

True test boxing day agaisnt Everton.

8.) 21 Dec 2022 08:53:11
Main thing is we won phil, quarter final to look forward to with hopefully those reinforcements. Looks like we've got cunha already.

9.) 21 Dec 2022 09:56:04
Agree Abbey we won we in the hat for next round is the main thing.

10.) 21 Dec 2022 10:29:43
Thers 23 games left which is ample enuf2stay up.hearing cunha is donedeal so trust in jl to get it right

11.) 21 Dec 2022 10:57:28
First game, yes a sackful of goals would be nice but as others say, we're in the hat and it's a bit of icing on a stale cake for a few more weeks at least. Let's see what the selection is on Monday as bar Neto we've got a full squad available, it may give a better idea if JLo's thinking.

Betting is now 11/4 for us to go down with McNulty on the BBC saying we will finish 18th

The squad is good but doesn't seem matched to the manager. Some players will be angry that they came here to play for JL or have stayed because of him like Fabio maybe, and that could be an issue.

Will the new manager make it to Christmas or will he be GON?

He said it's for discussion at the end of the season but if I were him I would say I don't want to leave PSV either as that's the team he plays for

He knows it's not his decision

Hope Sasa works out better than other Austrians who have come to Wolves in recent years maybe Hwang is off to Leeds after all

You are right. Our CBs running into striking positions showed our confidence. Everton weren't great but we never used to pressure teams like that enough. Now we score 3 after the 4 a few days ago.

3 points off 7th and that's ManU
Same points as Chelsea.

Pundits saying we were in a relegation battle before the season started and we still had Nunes. We knew we had good players but GON has got them playing with a conference and fluidity I haven't seen since 2019.

I don't agree Everan Aday.

Fosus spent big last Jan and if it wasn't for FFP we may have spent big in the summer but January 2024 is another year and we may lose a couple of players but we will be in a strong position to sign some good players too

With Newcastle turning the top 6 into a top 7 it's going to be hard to get into Europe the important thing is to stay in the PL and that means getting points off the bottom teams which I think we can do

Yes CB73 you do divide opinions we had him in and out of the team for years but he never performed at the level we needed and we would be stupid to turn down that offer from Forest

I like Saiss but is he the player now he was 3 years ago?
