If people are wondering why it went so quiet about a young central defender called R Ely joining Wolves from AC Milan, it's because of the Olympics. Any deal with him will happen at the end of the month, after the tournament ends. I think, from memory, it was going to be a loan deal.

My theory, StuWolf is that it's because English players don't play abroad. They get paid too well even in L1 and L2 that moving to second tier clubs in places like France or Netherlands wouldn't appeal.

On the other hand, how many Iceland players play in Iceland?

The PL is often considered the best league in the world, and that's mainly because of the foreign players. The England team was embarrassing in the Euros. The championship is going the same way, more and more good foreign players are raising the quality level. I bet an England B team drawn from the championship would be as equally embarrassing as the A team.
