Has anybody heard anything about trying to get a striker in on loan because we seriously need one just asking.

He obviously doesn't count, Ed. Nor does the fact that Sarabia is a goalscorer. Nor does the fact that virtually every manager now plays just the one central striker and we have three on the books plus Hwang and Guedes (I know,folks) who can also play that role. Basically, people need to be moved on before we are likely to get any more central strikers and how likely is that going to be with Costa on a mega deal and about to draw his pension and Raul a light of former days? Lopetegui obviously likes Hwang and can we recoup anything on Guedes?

{Ed002's Note - Goncalo Guedes (LW/F) I understand Guedes has had trouble settling in England and his agent has been offering him around and will speak with Wolves of a decent option is found. It will be tough to find a buyer at the prioce Wolves paid for him.}

Need a striker just a striker not a versitile player just a striker to run the channels also one with composure in front of goal,not just blasting it.

Somethings going on as Guedes is being sold to Barca.
If we get £27m that means funds are available for striker.
Personally depending on what's on offer Brereton Diaz would be a good option hight holds the ball up just what we need.
Ideally a striker like Evanlison would be good from Porto. Especially with the creativity of Cunha and Sarabia.
Cunha isn't a striker he is a wide forward who can hold the ball up and take players on.
We need a target man like Raul was or a good old fashioned striker like Bully was.
I think we need more options as Costa and Raul are very similar.
I'd go for a target man but also a poacher like Araujo from Benfica.

THANK YOU Ed! I keep trying to tell people that we have just agreed to spend £43m on a striker and he's called Cunha but some seem to have decided he's a winger! Of course another striker would be nice but let's give Cunha a chance to bed in before deciding he's not up to it ?

As outlined above,AB,we almost certainly have to move existing ones on first. It's also a question of who (would we be able to attract one of sufficient quality?) and having the players to actually provide supply.Our final ball issues are well documented and that has to be resolved for any striker to be successful.

Start of the window I was hoping for Enner Valencia. We were never linked to him but after scoring one of his goals at the world cup he made a call me gesture. I'm guessing now it wasnt for Hobbs.

Mad- I entirely agree with your first point, in that out of all the options I also think Díaz would be a great signing.
But I'm sorry peeps don't seem to understand what Lope is trying to do with Cunha! The guy came through in Brazil as an out and out striker and did very well there. He moved to Germany and played the same role very effectively. He then went to Madrid, struggled to score so got moved out to the wing. That doesn't make him a wide forward, it just makes him a modern forward (if Henry was playing now we'd be having the same convo). Apologies cause I'm not having a go here but I don't understand why peeps aren't understanding the role we've bought him in to play?! If you don't believe me then just ask Lope! When Cunha started against WHU it was as a striker, when he came on at Villa it was to replace Costa again (you guessed it as a striker)! Peeps need to stop thinking footy manager is real life and trust Lope who (as today's E and S article from Hobbs proved) specifically wanted to bring Cunha in to play a specific role (you guessed it) AS A STRIKER! ?

Gdawg- I'm not against bringing Gyokeres but I see him as a player that may need time to bed in.
Bullysboy-i don't disagree that Cunha could be the striker seems odd though he wasn't played as the striker at Sevilla though.
Also we just need a focal point for the team to create the chances for. This is the age of the traditional centre forward. We need a striker that can score the goals. And the creativity isn't as good as we think for Cunha to make runs in behind. The prem has already worked out that they need to stop him getting the ball or trap him.
