I think one or two are being unfair about Sasa hard to judge him really when he's only had a few minutes due to our old clueless medical team clearing it.
I think he is going to surprise us in the new season.

I hope so Rated, but I agree we've not seen him play yet.

Never really understood why fans seem to blame players for getting injured, what's that all about.

Blame the people who bring in players with a long history of injuries if that's the case and the medical team if they're at fault, sure.

Interestingly, the heads of both of those departments getting the push as part of the changes recently.

Or just blame bad luck,
From my knowledge sasa has had one serious injury and was sought after but chose to come to us.

Lol he has more minutes thus far than Toney Daley I think.

I have posted this before, but Kalajdzic's injury record is scary.
22/23 Cruciate Ligament Rupture 274 days
21/22 Shoulder Injury 137 days
19/20 Cruciate Ligament Rupture 263 days
18/19 Syndesmotic ligament tear 112 days
18/19 Knee Problems 28 days
17/18 Metatarsal Fracture 189 days
.and these are just the mains ones!
Personally not holding my breath he is the answer to our lack of goals.

I never knew that looks like it leans to our then medical team to blame then.
But at the end of the day its bad luck whichever way you look at it.

What worries me is he didn't win a single header in the 45 mins he played against Southampton and looked really slow. I think we need a more mobile striker for the prem, as after a serious knee injury he is likely to be slower.

7.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 09:17:20
He won't play 5 games for us. Total crock.

When we bought him, I wondered why were they talking such a risk on him. He's not one of uncle Jorges knock offs is he?

9.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 14:29:42
Would any of you have Harry Kane if he was available?

10.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 15:03:06
Some of you clearly wouldn't as he's had 24 separate injuries since 2012 including 9 ankle injuries. Therefore you'd write him off before giving him a chance.

Alan Shearer had 2 major knee injuries and turned out to be half decent. So did Ronaldo (R9).

Let's give Sasa a chance. How many of you thought he'd get injured 30 minutes into his debut? It was unlucky. He's one of our players so let's support him.

Some sound rationale there Jas M.

Just to say gents at no point did I blame Sasa for his bad luck. But however you break it down 45 mins in his first season is not good news! I also have to (saddly) echo Sev here, any player who has had two cruciate injuries in the last three seasons is going to be an long term injury risk going forward I'm afraid!

13.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 18:11:43
Problem is Jas neither of the two players mentioned have been out for as long as Sasa in their entire careers! Kane in fact despite having ankles made of glass has rarely been out for more than two months at a time. He also has the benefit of being one of the top marksman in Europe for the other ten months of a season! Shearer is more of an anomaly as he had very few injuries in his career but two bad ones. One was a cruciate injury, the main difference being he never had a recurrence of said injury Sasa has I'm afraid (and only 18 months later). I get the point your making and I don't think anyone's saying they wouldn't support him are they?! But surely we are allowed to question why the club opted to try and replace Raul with a player who was going on the cheap and who clearly has a poor injury record?! Particularly when it could not be more relevant to how his time with us has gone so far!

14.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 19:19:02
Ronaldo R9.

Ruptured Patella 1995 - 133 days out
Ruptured Patella 1999 - 140 days out
Ruptured Patella 1999 - 523 days out

3 injuries but a full recovery. The point I'm making is that Sasa could be the answer to our goalscoring problems and we shouldn't write him off because he's had 2 cruciate injuries.

These are on separate legs whereas Ronaldo's were on the same leg.

But Jas I ask again who is writing him off exactly?! No ones saying we should write him off but answer me this Jas would you honestly say you would feel comfortable relying on just Sasa and Raul up front next season?! If the answer is anything but yes then I'm afraid you are seeing the same point peeps are making (it's just we happen to be saying it). It's not about writing players off but it is about the reality that as a club we should not be relying on players that may never make a full recovery from their current injuries.
Take Jonny for example, before his first injury he was cementing his place in the Spanish national team and was probably one of the most reliable fbs in the league. So again I ask would you rely on Jonny next season? Can you honestly see him getting back into the national set up?! No you wouldn't cause I'm afraid the reality is he's NEVER been the same since his injury. Not his fault but pretending injuries haven't affected half of our best players is a large part of the reason we ended up fighting relgation last season I'm afraid!
Also c'mon Jas, let's be real here! I understand your examples (Ronaldo, Kane and Shearer) about making full recoveries but you've chosen three generational talents! I can give you more than three examples just in OUR squad alone where the player has never looked the same since a big injury! Jonny, Raúl and Neto spring to mind. Can you honestly tell me a single one of those three have put a performance equal to before they got injured since coming back?! I REALLY wish they had but sadly the truth is each one of them look like a shadow of the players they once were. Does that mean I'm not supporting them, of course not?! But it does mean we need to start being realistic about how much talent is truly in this squad cause otherwise this club are going to kid ourselves straight back into a relegation battle I'm afraid! ?

Matheus Cunha? Have we forgotten about him. Sarabia can play upfront too. Fabio Silva? We have a number of attacking options. Lopetegui has a full pre season to judge the returning loanees and implement his vision.

17.) 17 Jun 2023
17 Jun 2023 21:02:13
I hope Cunha does start scoring but honestly as someone who championed him as 'the answer' the truth is he was pretty underwhelming in terms of goals (especially for the fee)!
Fabio is increasingly looking like he wants to leave, I suspect to play at a (frankly) easier level! And to play Sarabia up front would a) be a complete waste of his best attributes and b) let's be honest his finishing let him down last season.
Last season we scored the least amount of goals in the ENTIRE league, even the three teams relegated scored more! The season before all three teams that scored less than us were relegated! Sooner or later if we don't fix that problem we will get relegated I'm afraid! Of course I hope that we have the answers already in the squad but with 31 goals over an entire season we need to be certain we have before the window shuts is all! And we absolutely should not be pinning our hopes on a player that has a long road to recovery before even being able to expect anything from him.

Interesting debate, but the brutal truth is our current attacking options are not good enough.
It is not a short-term issue, for the last 3 seasons we have been poor in front of goal.
You do not have to be a top highly qualified coach to know our squad development over the last 3 seasons has been poor in terms of strengthening our ability to score.
We now have an elite Manager who hopefully will be supported (within constraints) by our owner Mr Guangchang.
ps
This is a debating forum and most people contributing are passionate about seeing Wolves do well.
Different views will be held, but supporting our beloved Club is a common denominator.

If you remember Bullys we had this debate about Cunha just after he signed when I said I didn't expect him to be prolific, but I did expect him to create chances for others, assists, if you like. That was his strength in leagues less competitive than the Premier League. Maybe we did pay a bit much for him £30-35M being more realistic for me, but I still thought he was a good acquisition. Problem with that being we still need someone to put the ball in the net and as Rugeley has suggested we've been lacking in that department for 3 years now, since they sold Jota, in fact, who made everything click up front.

So we will say goodbye to Jimenez, Costa, Traore, imo, but not Silva. I think he will come back and draw confidence from JL and his team but yes, we still need the striker (goalscorer) that I've always felt we were lacking and still do.

I do remember Long old pal and it was those debates I had in mind. Like you I always thought it would be as much about him creating as it was scoring. I think he will be better next year and we are definitely better with him in the team but so far I have been underwhelmed with his general impact going forwards. I didn't expect him to be prolific but I did expect more than just two goals! Let's hope he can kick on next year and show us just how good he is, cause I think there really is a special player there! ?
