So villa get through with martinet pulling his antics to put off the pen takers and getting a second yellow card but can't be sent off in the shoot off. Forgetting it being the vile, is that fair, right and further ridicule decisions of VAR/refs and the game in general? That such behavior can go unpunished at such a crucial stage? It's hardly a deterrent to the behaviour is it especially when a player can be sent off for removing his shirt after scoring a 'special' goal.

Add on to that the FA cup is now to be one match rounds (so more shoot outs I'd imagine) denying the smaller clubs of potential financial income, even if replays would be between themselves let alone against 'big' named teams, and the final being played on the penultimate weekend ahead of the prem finale.

ItS plain to see that the money is tipping more and more towards the cartel of clubs dominating the TV channels and merchandise.

Being the old fogey I am, this seems to be another step to the departure from the 'game' I've loved over my years, sacrificing sport for financial gain, monopolising the top half of the premier league, and no doubt a departure to an exclusive Euro league as was tried on before.

Personally I feel like letting the '6' go. Retain a new EFL and get back to competition on a leveller playing field/s.

{Ed001's Note - he could have been sent off, that is not what happened. When it goes to a penalty shootout, cards are reset. So any players going into it on a yellow no longer have a yellow. If he had been booked again, then he would be sent off.}

It would have been so much more fun though, Ed001, if he had been sent off!

{Ed001's Note - I agree, he is thoroughly detestable individual. Ridiculously overrated as well for such an average keeper.}

Thanks Ed. I wasn't aware of that and nor it seems the sports report I got it from. Still unsportsmanlike cheating in my book. Maybe the threat of a straight red would have stopped it to begin with. Use to enjoy grobbelars jelly leg routine though!

{Ed001's Note - I am with you, the rules allow cheating and it does need to be stopped.}

What's the betting that Martinez knew that cards were reset for the penalty shootout, so that he was free to continue his embarrassing antics. He has absolutely zero class.

{Ed001's Note - you would need to ask Ivan Toney for that.}

Lol Ed001 that made me laugh ou loud.

{Ed001's Note - glad to hear that.}
