Roger Johnson is set to sign for Southampton after West Ham pulled out of the running. Fee is reported 2m
Rj is part of stales plan time for fans and rj to build bridges he will be partnered by Danny batth.traing ground spirit is excellent players have taken to solbakken and lange.
My car is full of petrol what time does he want picking up
2million no chance he may have caused unrest last season but we will not take less then half what we paid for him
Give Johnson and all the lads a chance. Im 1000% behind all of them. History is exactly that !!
Batth n RJ are both right sided CB, so theres noway they will play together, sum1 needs to learn futi
Rj must stay forget last season roger was made a scapegoat by 2 very poor managers and 2 absolutely pathetic man managers.hopefully mm gets the forest job and takes cry baby connor with him
RJ and Batth both right sided CBs. So what! Ward played in nearly every position except goal last season.
So what if they are both right sided they are a best pairing learn ur futi let's ave Stearman and Berra then eh
Have any of you actually seen Baath play? Just because he did well in league one doesn't mean he is up to the standard wolves want to be.
Johnson and Baath wouldn't wok as a partnership as Johnson needs a footballing centre half next to him (ala Scott dann)
These two won't be our defensive partnership next season.
Its impossible to just change the side that a CB is, positioning, body shape, direction of turns, if you had played at any half decent standard you would know this! Berra n RJ will be 1st choice unles they leave or a LCB is bought in! {Ed001's Note - Terry managed it, he started on the right and now plays on the left. It is ludicrous to suggest it is impossible, it depends on the player. Some players are adaptable and can play different sides and others struggle to adapt.}
If he has trained as a RCB, which he wud have, then it is impossible to do within a pre season, terry started as a RCB, but had to train as a LCB, this was the only way to break into the chelsea team. He is 1 of very few that can do this! {Ed001's Note - that is simply a lie. Many players play different positions, being left or right side of central defence is not that big a step for a player, certainly less of one than playing full back for instance. The body shape is mostly determined by whether you are covering in behind or pushing up to make a challenge, not the side they are on.}
Its not a lie at all, as why the biggest discussion before the euros was the CB partnership, its only becuz terry has played n trained for that position. If not then it wud have been a big problem! Its not about footed of anythng other than position n turning, CB for instance are taught to turn towards there fellow CB, this isnt easy to change allthough it sounds simple! Im not saying it cannot be taught, but it cant within 1 pre season! {Ed001's Note - funny that, Terry managed ok without being trained, he was thrown in on the left due to injuries. Centre backs are not taught to turn towards their fellow centre backs at all, they are taught to stay goal side and guide attackers away from the goal. The issue with playing on the opposite side comes down to them having to play the attacker towards their weak foot. It comes down to technique, a player with good technique will be able to cope, one with poor technique struggles to compensate. The talk before the Euros about it was down to gormless journalists with no idea about how to play football. They spend so much time worshipping at the feet of long ball merchants, such as Howard Wilkinson, and believe everything these people tell them. They fail to see that England has fallen so far behind countries like Spain is because of idiots like Wilkinson controlling the coaching players receive. I prefer to listen to those with a clue about playing real football, on the ground, passing to feet, such as Dario Gradi.}
All these people who want RJ out is fine, name his replacement, put up or shut up
He'll play on Which ever side solbakken puts him. For god sake he's a professional footballer hes on 40k he'll play left or right not as if if miles out of position.
Danny Batth = Mark Davies MkII
Roger johnson is definately not good enough for the premiership and is not worth 2 mil bout 1 mil
JTwas thrown in on the left? He is a LCB. N trust me, on the turn CB r told to turn inwards to be able to see their fellow CB, Its nothing to do with their weaker side, JT is a right footed LCB, vidic the same, nothing to do with what footed they are. I agree with the standard of coaching and style. But trust me, the seemingly simple transition from ledt to right or visa versa CB is maybe one of the most technical changes, n batth will not play with RJ, which was the original arguement {Ed001's Note - you must live in some kind of fantasy world, you still have not understood anything said to you and you are talking complete nonsense. Vidic played on the right side and the left side, he just settled in on the left at United. Give it a rest, you clearly have no idea about these players, you also have no idea about defending. This is embarrassing. You only turn inwards to keep a line, it is nothing technical or difficult for a player to do, no matter which side they are on.}
ED tbh you both have strong points but i guess you play the guy on what ever side he feels most comfortable=confidence {Ed001's Note - yes, you do, but, like I said, there is no real reason, other than having to show attackers onto a weaker foot, that a centre back can't play on the other side of the defence. If the players are brought up with good technique, there is no real reason they can't play anywhere you put them. It is a pathetic English joke that our players are so poor technically that they are not comfortable playing numerous positions. Look at Crewe, in the play off final, they had a right back playing left mid, a right back playing left back and a centre back playing right back. Did that cause them any problems? Not at all, because their players are taught to be comfortable on the ball and they learn good technique. If Batth can't play left or right sided centre half, then there is a serious issue with the coaching at Wolves. It is not a big shift, despite the nonsense being talked about by the other poster, most centre halves play both sides at various points in their career prior to breaking into the first team. Often they will play both sides then. Like Rio Ferdinand last season, he often played on the left side, because he tends to drop deeper than his centre back partner and so could provide cover for Evra's wanderings.}
Was it to cover evra, or because he is more experienced than smalling or jones (both right sided CBs) im not saying players shouldnt be taught to play both, but they usually arent! I play with a CB that came through the crewe academy, he allways plays left sided due to how he turns, this was bought up at the academy and they switched him to the left, him being right footed he had previously played right, but due o his own natural movements got switched, as much as you want to tell me this is rubbish, i know it isnt! N yes you turn inwards to look at you fellow cb, for line n distance, which is what i said! Positioning and movement is the single most important thing about being a CB! This is all off the ball, so no matter how technically good you are, if you dont do this well your not even going to be CB! You only have to see CB to work this out, united have jones smalling rio competing for 1 slot, vidic n evans the other, only rare occassions will this change, wolves have RJ batth n stears for 1 slot, berra n george after the other, thats how it works, no matter how much u want to believe ur right, your not, its not simple to train natural movement, ucan try n force somebody todo unnatural thngs, but that will only happen in times of need and only with experienced ppl usually (jt ateuros) {Ed001's Note - sorry but you are talking nonsense, like I said in the past, it really depends on the player. Nothing to do with experience at all, more to do with the intelligence and adaptability of the player. You have obviously never heard of total football. It is simply down to being badly coached, if a player can't play both sides. They are not trained to turn left or right, they are trained to look at their partner, normally they stand straight on, until faced with an attacker they are moving with and then their body shape will be determined by what they want to do. If they are fronting up an attacker, they will shape their body to guide him away from the goal. If they are covering, they will stay face on to the play so they can run either way quickly. I really don't know where you have got your ideas from, but your mate is clearly not a coach and has little understanding of how to play the game. But then most players don't think, they just play with no real thought about why they do things. And yes, Rio was played on the left to cover Evra, Evans was partnering him on a number of those occasions, even though you say he only plays on the left.}
Eds right terry might be right footed but he prefers the left side as he has said this himself n anyway whats the big deal im sure batth or johnson could play left side any center half should be able to most footballers now are both footed so should not be a problem n i saw something about england the reason we dont win nothing is cause we dont pass and move brooking n wilkinson have not got a clue they dont care
To the last post, iv never sed its about what footed you are, if u had read the posts u would now this..... Most of what a def does is when the ball is no where near them, so facing an attacker is only in 1 on 1 def, which is diff n i agree, in this instance it doesnt matter where you prefer to play, you push a play as far away from goal as possible (not on to the weaker foot as i saw before, as this may be a more dangerous place) n. do know football, total football has nothing to do with a players natural instict on turning and ability to do this with out thinking! JT obviously turns off his left foot, hence y he plays LCB, this would mean he turns inwards! {Ed001's Note - he turns off both feet! Jesus you really don't get the point at all.}
Anyway, im bred of this, if any1 wishes to have a wager on RJ n batth not playing together im more than happy to do this!
Turned out nice again hasn't it?
Holy moly......cant believe what i just bin readin on here.....Pro footballers now aparentley can only turn on one foot. ...Get of your high horse mate...ya bin found out......lol....utw
Would love to know how Danny Batth is another Mark Davies...
Hello ......... anybody still awake?
