Apparently clubs have expressed interest in Lonnergan, Mason, Dicko and Price. With Price actually 'in taks' with another club.

We are also looking to get a striker over the line by the end of the week and a second afterwards if we decide to let Dicko go.

Bids are in and offers received being considered, expect some announcements by the weekend.

08 Aug 2017 11:45:54
I don't get why "we" are even considering letting Dicko go!?!
He hasn't lost any pace from what I can see and will score goals given decent service.
He also does a lot of unselfish running to create space for others. without him Afobe (who everyone loves) wouldn't have scored half the goals he did.
In my opinion we're lucky to have him in the squad-3/ 4 of the championship would take him in a heartbeat.

08 Aug 2017 12:20:17
I agree a few goals and everyone would think Dicko was our best striker again though currently he is. And don't mention Afobe.

08 Aug 2017 12:32:02
From what I saw on sat we played really well but as soon as we took bonatini off up front and put dicko on the we lost control of the game he just not tall enoigh to play in that position if he plays you need a big man next to him.

08 Aug 2017 13:29:56
Be interesting to see who doesn't play tonight of the fringe players cause they will be the ones who will probably be loaned or shipped out cause of being cup tied I reckon.

08 Aug 2017 13:45:40
I agree Dicko should be kept but don't expect him to be the big CF. He linked up well with Afobe in the past and now I think he could form a cracking partnership with Bonatini and our wide men feeding them.

08 Aug 2017 13:55:49
Yes, it will be a brand new 11 starting tonight. Something like

Burgoyne
Bennett
Deslandes
Batth
Price
Edwards
Graham
Ronan
Zyro
Dicko
MGW

On the bench: Ruddy, Boly, Miranda, Neves, Coady, Bonatini, Bright
(what a bench! )

although maybe Coady will start, to develop his captain's role. We won't want to risk our new stars against Yeovil.

An outside chance for more youngsters, of course, like Samuel Austin. And a remote chance for Oniangue and Evans to see what they can do despite being outside the first team squad.

08 Aug 2017 14:02:06
Doesn't EVANS now play for Wigan.

08 Aug 2017 14:57:23
I thought Price was supposed to resurrected. Why is he talking about leaving?

08 Aug 2017 14:59:00
Evans has long gone to wigan, as for oniangue he won't feature either.

08 Aug 2017 15:23:52
Think Vinagre will be in ahead of Deslandes.

08 Aug 2017 15:26:49
Tim spiers states that we not in for Jordan Rhodes so we not in for Gallagher nor Afobe or bamford it's got to b foreign striker a mendes man.

08 Aug 2017 15:27:53
Euroman have you forgotten Norris? Pretty sure he'll be getting game time ahead of burgoyne. Just like vinagre over deslandes.

08 Aug 2017 15:30:12
It's not a bad rumour ardeidae i'd add batth and possibly Doherty depending on finances (Yes it does have tonne sustainable Ladies and gentlemen)
Doherty didn't play nunos way whilst Douglas did it to perfection. I think that's why there are rumours going round of more defenders.

Nuno expects the wing backs to get forward and take chances as that adds players to our attack. I think they will pay the money for striker (probably heard the name on this rumour page already), a midfielder and possibly either a rwb or another attacking player.
UTW.

08 Aug 2017 15:38:47
Got to keep Dicko - if a Prem club comes for him then I'd wish him all the best. He's worth 5-7 mil. At the end of the day it's hard to replace strikers.

08 Aug 2017 15:41:39
I think will Norris will b in goal mason might b in contention bonatini may get game time.

08 Aug 2017 16:32:01
Agree North bank 62. Dicko is worth millions.

08 Aug 2017 17:16:36
Ah, yes, forgotten about Evans to Wigan. Thanks guys.

Would make sense to play Vinagre and Norris. Forgot about both of them (sigh) . E&S think so too:

Wolves (3-4-3): Norris; Bennett, Batth, Deslandes; Doherty, Price, Edwards, Vinagre; Graham, Dicko, Ronan. Subs: Burgoyne, Deslandes, Coady, Saiss, Enobakhare, Zyro, Bonatini.

Deslandes doing a double act here. A big correlation with my suggestion too (8 players I think) . Why does neither of us think Mason will play?

TimmyTTT - Price had a good pre-season but Saiss had a better one. He's too far down the pecking order again especially with Neves also in the team but I'm sure if there's a lull in performance in the next few weeks he'll be back.

08 Aug 2017 17:33:14
Tim Spiers prediction of line up is spot on I reckon.
Likely line ups
Wolves (3-4-3): Norris; Bennett, Batth, Deslandes; Doherty, Price, Edwards, Vinagre; Graham, Dicko, Ronan. Subs: Burgoyne, Coady, Saiss, Enobakhare, Zyro, Bonatini.

I'd expect zyro and bonatini/ bright to come on from the bench hopefully a couple of goals up.

08 Aug 2017 18:01:12
North Bank: No way would a premier club come in for Dicko unless it's a Malian premier club. Much as I like him the plain and simple fact is that he still has lots to prove following his debilitating injury. For one thing, he's clearly lost his electric pace and that's most unlikely to return.

08 Aug 2017 18:04:04
Expect a tough game against Yeovil that 8-2 result will b really hurting them with zyro graham and dicko playing we should have more than enough for them.

08 Aug 2017 18:38:59
What's happened to Dicko is a bit like what happened with Ebanks Blake. Bad injury, long lay off, returns half a yard slower and lost that goalscorong instinct. Shame, but no can can deny it's not the same Dicko. Irrespective of who's playing around him. I'd sell him and use the funds on a new powerful striker - Gray or Aboubakar would be perfect.

08 Aug 2017 19:37:55
Yes 1877 I think he should b sold he's not the same player he had a lot of game time last season and missed bucket full of chances the old dicko would have put them away lost that yard of pace.

08 Aug 2017 20:42:27
Ebanks-Blake in the day what a forward, childhood hero along with Karl Henry.

08 Aug 2017 21:49:27
And yet who saves the day against Yeovil.

08 Aug 2017 22:11:36
Mason got to be off.

08 Aug 2017 22:52:49
If anything that result tonight shows that we are a working progress. A striker is in demand our first team strikers struggled tonight. TBF I expected a tight match with Yeovil embarrassed at the weekend and wolves playing a majority of last seasons squad. But we need to be clinical and we need strong points of attack and methods of breaking teams down. 8 shots against Yeovil isn't good enough for a wolves team in the cup. Set the marker Nuno!
UTW.

08 Aug 2017 23:15:26
Don’t get why we would get rid of Dicko if honest. At this stage he is the ONLY striker we have with any actual Champ experience to speak of. If honest I can’t tell if he’s lost a yard of pace or if the rest of the teams just quicker which finally makes it look that way, besides which for me personally his best trait was actually his ability to be a constant nuisance to the oppo defence. And that’s a mental/ work rate trait, he still needs to do some work to get that back but let’s be fair like the rest of the team he’s still finding his stride.

Think it looks increasingly like we will start most league games with one striker and if so we will probs need one more for the campaign. So I suppose the question is are we REALLY likely to find a better third choice at this level? For me it’s unlikely well not without spending silly money anyway, on a player who at most will likely be playing 20 mins a week. Besides Nouha has always been good as gold, never had his toys out of the pram during the bad times.

In a world of Afobes and ‘heads gone’ wouldn’t it be nice if we showed some of that loyalty that we all moan about not getting back?! Especially for a lad who has always at least tried to do his best for the club, not saying he’s a world beater but who knows…. bit more quality either side he may just find the goals this year. Not been a bad start for him so far, hope we at least give him a fair crack till Jan…he at least deserves that! COYW.

09 Aug 2017 07:14:22
Your right bullysboy.
Dicko will become 3rd choice striker though. Nothing against him as a person but Nuno and the board know they need a prolific striker someone who plays and strikes fear in the opposition. Dicko did that with sako and afobe but those days are gone and that system would struggle against the 3-4-3 system. I think there will be a lot of movement over the next few weeks. Nuno is assessing offers coming in with the board as well as seeing what options come up with Mendes contacts. I can see 3 still been signed but it will be quality rather than quantity.

07 Aug 2017 22:30:13
Lonergan and Baath for Hernandez!

08 Aug 2017 14:37:29
Without wishing to get too embroiled in the Dicko debate I must take issue with Edthewolf on one thing. To my eyes, and also others I have discussed the matter with, Dicko has very clearly lost a yard of pace. Not surprising given the terrible injury he had but his pace was clearly his main asset so I fear he'll never be the player he once was.

08 Aug 2017 18:14:12
SEB was never the same player again after he sustained that injury by the thug Paul Robinson of Birmingham. Could Dicko's career be similarly blighted? When I saw him play towards the end of last season, I still think he had it. I think we know enough about Nuno now to trust him about Dicko.

07 Aug 2017 10:18:15
Striker in advanced talks.

07 Aug 2017 10:44:18
Any names?

07 Aug 2017 10:49:11
It's rumoured to be Anderson Aquino.
BB.

07 Aug 2017 10:57:56
really, free agent over 30?

07 Aug 2017 11:24:16
They must have a list of 14 strikers they are after. And they will flex and push agents as they feel right as the club are the only ones that know what all the players/ parties involved want in terms of deal. Exciting to watch.
Gray
Gallagher
Soares
Aquino
Hernandez
These are the names touted at the minute. I wander what is going on behind the scenes. UTW.

07 Aug 2017 11:26:44
31 year old Brazilian striker who has scored 4 goals in the last two years - hope its not!

07 Aug 2017 11:30:31
Good job it's only a Rumour then! I don't think so!
⚽️😉👍.

07 Aug 2017 11:42:09
31 years old only ever played in Brasil had about fifteen clubs hope not.

07 Aug 2017 11:58:54
Hope it's Andre Gray or Patrick Bamford 🙏 Bamford looked very useful when he came on Saturday. Either of them will be a MASSIVE step up on Dicko.

07 Aug 2017 12:27:22
Really can't see it being gray it might be crouchie Stoke bought another forward putting him down the pecking order he will be better than mason anyway.

07 Aug 2017 12:56:50
Fully agree with you re Bamford Paul - although I've only ever had negative replies from people when I've suggested him before.

Think he'd be a great addition.

07 Aug 2017 13:38:39
Hmm it's interesting Paul. I think gray would be an upgrade on dicko. I'm not sure middlesborough would sell bamford to us. But from all the strikers linked I'm not sure who to go for we need 20 odd goals from them to make sure we go up. In terms of a direct and scoring number 10/ second striker I'm not sure jota could do it. Jota seems like the one wolves went for post afobe deal never happening. But he didn't look as strong but in a counter attack game I can see goals from him and good link up play between him, cav and Costa. I also liked his passion he chased and harried Christie all afternoon.

07 Aug 2017 14:00:42
I think crouch due to his dominance in the air and also holding the record for most prem headed goals would offer something different at this l feel would offer something different at this level and he's get stuff put on a plate to him from likes of cav and costa.

07 Aug 2017 13:04:03
Didn't you say Eder last week bertie basset, is this from the same source?

25 Jul 2017 12:47:48
I'm hearing we're being linked with Portuguese forward Eder (Ederzito Antonio Macedo Lopes) a fee of about €6,000,000 should secure the strikers services. Just hat I heard from a reliable source.
BB.

07 Aug 2017 14:24:33
I can 100% guarantee it's not andré gray.

07 Aug 2017 14:38:30
Bertiebasset? BB should stand for Bulls--t Billy!

07 Aug 2017 16:19:45
Hahaha PT😂😂.

07 Aug 2017 17:08:02
It's Benik Afobe. Sorry, I must have awoken in a parallel universe where I was ULF.

07 Aug 2017 17:23:30
Jas,
I think ULF stands for Ultra Low Frequency or Unusually Lousy Forecaster.

I was going to recommend him getting a job in brand marketing at The Mol but then I thought he would throw his toys out if we didn't sign the Great Sulk, the Blessed Benik Afobe.

07 Aug 2017 17:38:23
I would like to see Bamford as well. I think he could suit our style of play. A bit concerned that Rhodes is more limited in his contribution.

07 Aug 2017 17:48:48
tims spiers says that he is told reports of an £8m bid for Sam Gallagher are wide of the mark. Wolves still in for him on loan. And still playing the waiting game.

07 Aug 2017 18:03:55
Sooner pay 10 million for gallacher. than for jordan rhodes. So up the bid jeff. Asap. forever wolves.

07 Aug 2017 18:06:21
I would be happy with that. If, and I know its a big if, we get promoted then next season we could be looking at a higher level of striker.

07 Aug 2017 18:53:30
I might b wrong but I still think it's a foreign striker a mendes man who's going to score 20 to 25 goals Gallagher Rhodes Afobe aren't going to get that I think we r considering a bid for Rhodes.

07 Aug 2017 19:17:15
Much as I would like Andre Gray or Benik Afobe or, better yet, Vincent Aboubakar and much as I really do not want Sam Gallagher (too immobile) or Patrick Bamford (too weak and suspect attitude) or Jordan Rhodes (past his best) or Abel Hernandez (doesn't score enough) I actually don't think it will be any of them. Or Peter Criuch for that matter though I wouldn't mind him. I believe the new striker will be foreign, playing abroad and South American. I believe, because that's what I've been told by someone who supposedly knows within the club, that it will be Tiquinho Soares. Could be wrong of course.

07 Aug 2017 19:38:28
Why don't we just get both, we are rich!

07 Aug 2017 19:45:36
I've heard no names on the striker at all. Gallagher seems unlikely as well so no idea who we'll get.

07 Aug 2017 21:09:51
Tiquino soares I agree he's by far the best of a bad bunch he will get us the goals we need.

07 Aug 2017 23:09:17
Re Deep Throat, my CV is ok :-P I’ve dropped out too much, but I might send it into Wolves one day, it impresses me when I remember. I was on fast track into management in Lerners brand marketing bank (biggest Affinity card issuer in the World, did Man U and Newcastle FC), mentored by the VP who was one of his relatives. So I'm obviously house trained :-)

Every decision Fosun have made so far has been good, however this ends up I’m sure they’ll have good reasons. Nothing wrong debating the merit's of this or that potential striker, aside from the footballing reasons.

08 Aug 2017 00:13:27
Adze how can you guarantee it's not Andre grey?

08 Aug 2017 09:45:43
ULF. Send your CV in. If you get an interview, don't mention Afobe! I'm sure Nuno knows all about him but also knows he's not PL quality. When a young striker performs well in our division, great. If a PL club buys him, they are expecting him to continue scoring. Afobe has proven over two seasons in the PL that he can't reproduce his championship form. I bet Bournemouth regret buying him. Nuno expects that all players he is bringing in now can perform for us in the PL, so why buy Afobe even if he would drop a division?

Our brand (I prefer "image") is not rural or urban, as far as I'm concerned we aspire to be international. There is a revolution going on at Wolves in every aspect, particularly playing style. You've said a few times that you won't support the club any longer if we do this thing and we do that thing. Money Shop and Andre Gray come to mind, amongst others. I don't think any true supporter says that.

08 Aug 2017 15:44:26
Yes we are all inclusive and glam, that’s our heritage. Like SJH going as a kid alongside the poorest people, like Billy Wright. Re me supporting the club, I mean about getting involved. You need to be in community or be able to identify with something to support it. I'm not in community, out of area and even excluded from Molmix so it’s already difficult, and things like Moneyshop have a negative impact on identity that repels some people. It is maybe telling that while the Mol was sold out Saturday, Corporate boxes weren’t anywhere near.

Re Gray, I only kicked off about that being for £20m when they apparently wouldn’t pay more than £10m for Afobe, and most of my comments were defensive against attacks rather than attacking. I only care about the identity of the striker is if it’s a big money signing as a talisman, as they’d obviously impact the clubs identity. There are identity issues with Gray that don’t rule him out if he’s matured but should prompt questions.

Re Afobe not Prem but Gray is, not according to the respective clubs fans forums. They claim at 24 Afobe has potential in Prem, at 26 Gray doesn’t and isn’t good enough for Prem, top championship only. But who knows what Nuno could get out of them or any other player, I have total trust he’s a top coach and can make players better.

Hopefully we’ll have a new striker signed by Saturday, I don’t think Nuno would want to be relying on Bonatini without match fitness, and on Dicko who is still to click with the system. I have no doubt now Fosun will do whatever’s necessary to get us to Prem this year, now they’ve seen from Saturday Nuno can make it work.

08 Aug 2017 16:41:19
Ulf, at the end of the day we have to trust Nuno to get the best striker in. At £20 mil for Gray, that's stupid money if he's not guaranteed to perform in the PL.

I assume we will get a Mendes client in from the Continent, unknown in the championship, which is a good thing. Probably on loan or half what Gray would cost. If other clubs know a striker already, they know his weaknesses.

There must be several strikers keen to play in the PL. What better way than playing for us now, at the very worst it puts them firmly in the shop window. At best, they go up with us to the PL.

08 Aug 2017 18:28:28
Although I've got preferences as long as it's not a big name signing for more money than Neves I don't mind who we get, as it wouldn't overshadow anything else and I totally trust Nuno to get the right player to work in the system. I'm hoping Bonatini can become our big hit, at 23 and not already a big name he's perfect. It's just the issue of match fitness. I think though Fosun will really go for it now, it's obvious from Saturday it's going to work with Nuno and we may see a couple more. My only concern with more continentals is match fitness now it's the live season.

07 Aug 2017 00:20:05
This isn't a transfer rumour per say, but thought you'd all be interested to know anyway. Apparently we sounded Nuno out for the job back in February - remarkable really, which shows just how little faith the owners had in Lambert! Was clearly just a stop gap. We've clearly worked hard for months and done all the groundwork to persuade Nuno to sign. I'm hopeful he'll bring success to wwfc. Great performance on Saturday let's hope we can build on it.

07 Aug 2017 06:56:20
Feet on the ground Jonzy. Along way to go yet. If I remember rightly Zenga had us in 3rd place in September and was sacked not long after. Not saying Zenga was the answer but football is a funny game.

07 Aug 2017 07:40:19
Jonzy what are you hearing on the striker front?

07 Aug 2017 07:40:37
Yeah but we never had the team we had then playing for us batth stearmen Saville Wallace mason Edwards got much better players than before.

07 Aug 2017 08:29:38
Nuno (Bless You) is the leader we've been waiting for to start dealing with and, getting things right on and off the pitch that's for sure. We all have to back him and the team all the way. He WILL lead us into the prem and beyond! 😉⚽️👍.

07 Aug 2017 10:45:44
In advance talks with Sheffield Wednesday striker I presume its Rhodes.

07 Aug 2017 11:52:49
Maybe Fletchers coming home haha.
