Wolves 3rd choice kit launch tomorrow at half time. And there's a rumour there will be a new signing revealed as well. Source gold/ black youtube.

04 Aug 2017 21:32:23
Abel Hernandez? Bewedley Wolf?

04 Aug 2017 22:13:00
Don't be saft. You think sky wouldn't get hold of our deals or at least one of the Tims. Not going to whip out Andre gray at half time šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

04 Aug 2017 23:57:09
Already spent 60 odd quid on my shirt kind if wishing I don't like this supposed 3rd kit. Woukd also be annoyed if there is a signing because y bit play him against a team like Boro!

05 Aug 2017 00:02:50
Maybe they're going to announce a huge signing in the morning, in the new kit, have him in the squad and ready to play in tomorrows game, ambush Middlesbrough with something unexpected.

Right now might be like Christmas Eve. Is there a present tomorrow?

05 Aug 2017 09:47:10
Even if we had a new player up our sleeve we would hardly announce him on match day. We need to totally focus on our opponents today and give our all.

05 Aug 2017 10:20:42
Yep, it would unsettle the team and game totally, and set us up for a fall.

It's understandable why people are so exasperated though, we haven't had an effective striker since Afobe left, this is now toward the end of the fourth transfer window since he left, it's still not sorted, and as Leicester showed, we're not converting our chances that we've spent so much money creating.

And, a striker, and the right one, is critical for supporting. I've been a striker supporter, rather than midfield etc, since I first knew what football was. I supported Kenny Dalglish before I supported Wolves.

05 Aug 2017 11:29:51
God let's kick a ball first then see what else the team needs. With service this Italian chap might be a great poacher and score a few on the counter. (Yes I called him Italian not Brazilian due to his parents)

05 Aug 2017 11:55:37
im not bothered whether we sign a player today tomo or next week. I will be 100 percent behind the lads today regardless. one thing tho. please someone stop ulf bangin on bout afobe. or brand. or edginess. ed? there has to be a way to stop ulf posting anything with those words in haha.

05 Aug 2017 12:06:59
I was really looking forward to Bonatini but apparently he hasn't had a full pre-season, only played 18 games last season, is probably not match fit so we may not see him for a few weeks? I hope that's wrong and he plays, he looked great in his vids.

05 Aug 2017 14:09:08
Bonatini is starting :-)

05 Aug 2017 14:13:52
Bonatini starts, had a pre season with wherever he came from.

05 Aug 2017 14:28:16
Ulf, you're getting depressed again. Fear not, Bonatini is starting today against Boro. Hope that perks up our brand! I'd sooner win today though.

05 Aug 2017 14:49:21
Tiquinho Soares, Brazilian striker from Porto. Fee in region of Ā£6m tho may be loan initially. Announced this coming week.

05 Aug 2017 15:07:23
DAS is he any good?

05 Aug 2017 16:37:33
Didn't someone mention Tiquinho Soares a week or so ago? I've heard that many players linked with us this summer that I've forgotten whom I've researched and whom I've never heard of.

05 Aug 2017 17:13:59
lol, 1-0 win with an opportune goal and shutting up shop by moving it around, just like I predicted.

See, I'm always right :-)

Hurray for Bonatini. Now we need to sign Afobe to back him up.

05 Aug 2017 17:47:36
Re DAS, I think another Mendes Continental / Foreign player as our second striker, would make the team too disconnected and unreal. Strikers are a talisman role, we're on verge of becoming team Mendes rather than Wolves.

05 Aug 2017 17:50:34
Your always right God I've heard it all now.

05 Aug 2017 17:39:55
I would love to see Abel Hernandez wearing the gold and black and with 1 year left on his contract anything is possible. I do think a price tag of Ā£7m-Ā£10m is more than we will want to pay at this stage. As for marketing miracles let's just focus on the exposure of becoming a successful championship club with genuine premiership aspirations. COYW!

05 Aug 2017 17:44:07
Elegantwolf,

Good idea. Could we booby trap his keyboard to self-destruct if certain words like brand and/ or Afobe are typed? I'm sure he will register Afobe as a trade-mark brand if we don't stop him soon. I can see it now, a scowling Afobe in every newspaper advertisement looking moody at the camera as if to say, don't mess with me. Or, someone could come up with a new Oxford dictionary definition for "doing an Afobe" meaning, buggering off when a better offer comes in.

05 Aug 2017 17:45:13
I posted about a month ago we were looking to loan Jota, happened.

Last week I did say the other name I was given was Soares but it was either him or Jota, not both. If our primary targets are out of reach then why not.

Fee 15m.

05 Aug 2017 18:28:23
Ulf if "team mendes" wears the old gold and black, takes us to the prem and makes us mid table I honestly don't give a monkeys! How do you manage to spout such bollocks?

05 Aug 2017 18:29:57
Re Mathmo, I hope you mean Afobe.

Re Wolves till I die, I'm right about Wolves. A super brand waiting to happen, up to now our identity is perfect.

You can't stick an aerial on a Ferrari, no matter how useful it is, you may as well have a Honda.

05 Aug 2017 19:14:03
Today's game was always going to b tight Saiss and neves dominated midfield I think the striker will b foreign announced mon or Tuesday.

05 Aug 2017 19:21:13
Afobe isn't coming back, I'm sorry Ulf we took the Ā£8m profit and now he is gone.

05 Aug 2017 19:22:08
Just back home from watching brand Wolves market their wares successfully. Funnily enough there was a Ferrari and a Honda in the car park.

05 Aug 2017 19:36:57
Ulf you are wrong in saying team Mendes as it is about connections. Not all signings are Mendes clients.
The club has come along way since 12 months ago.
The professionalism of the club has risen and the brand is being rebuilt after years of dogma, stagnation and complacency!
Albeit the brand is for commercial and making us a force worldwide when we are promoted. The other issue is making wolves a desitination for the best footballers. That is something the club and council have to work together to achieve.
On the flip side I will enjoy the ride and look forward to seeing nunos ideas on making the team stronger and developing a wolves way.
Interesting we made the strong contenders for the league look ordinary they had 4 strikers on but our defensive system worked wonders one shot from bandied on target and 3 half chances Britts 2 and braithwates headed.
Can still see some players been brought but this was done without helper Costa nor Ivan! UTW
Also Saiss and Neves looked immense! Please be like that consistently! šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™.

05 Aug 2017 20:04:36
Cosistency is the word. with cav. costa to come back eventually. one more striker is needed. to complete the squad. but you might think this trivial. but before the game. I was amazed at the warm up we did on pitch. it looked totally profesional. compated to what I've seen other seasons. and it paved way for a similar match performance. forever wolves.

05 Aug 2017 20:38:43
Re DAS, if I was a rich footballer at Wolves, there'd be a Alfa Romeo Disco Volante in the carpark :-) In orange.

05 Aug 2017 19:58:50
Re Howler17 - and spent the money on Mason and Zyro.

Re Anewdawn, we have a promotion winning team if we can sort the other striker, because it's a long season.

But still, Wolves is only a sleeping giant because it has a perfect heritage and identity, which makes it real. If it becomes too much of a construct, they'll lose that, which is the clubs greatest asset. It won't be a giant anymore than they can keep peddling it, just like any other club. There's loads of successful constructs, real is what's rare and worth supporting. Them keeping it real will determine how much support the club will achieve, whether we'll grow real supporters or just glory hunters. A small amount more money now to get the right striker, that can become us, to keep it real, is an investment that will pay off big time later.

05 Aug 2017 20:50:03
Nuno stated they will bring in more signings I don't really want Afobe back as some on here r saying we should b aiming higher we have got the money to buy better.

05 Aug 2017 21:23:20
Orange? I always thought Wolves colour was old gold. Silly me. Your knowledge of my club is clearly amazing.

05 Aug 2017 22:45:26
Why Afobe, being blunt he's a waste of time, as are you, brand, brand, brand who gives a fck.

Soares is, as I mentioned an alternative option.

I am not interest in you, your ideas of brand that you keep on about,
do us all a favour and find another site, you are boring the sht out of us all.

05 Aug 2017 22:37:53
Luton beat Yeovil 8-2 the last team to score 8 on the open day of the season was wait for it wol who beat man city 8-1 in 1962 I do remember that.

05 Aug 2017 22:49:17
Yes our new signing is Jody craddock lol.

06 Aug 2017 00:42:42
Yes, but Alfa had an excellent orange, that is like our gold. I guess maybe they let Ferrari have the red.

06 Aug 2017 00:47:24
mathmo, I spent most of my posts defending what I'd said rather than keeping on. It's not up to you to decide. And I'm not interested in you either, or your opinion, so let's leave it at that :-)

06 Aug 2017 00:49:42
Re DAS - your club? I was born in Wolves, my family have been in the area centuries. It's my club too thanks.

06 Aug 2017 08:17:34
Face facts we're never going to be a massive club for the simple reason our town sorry city is too small a club has to be in London or Manchester, Liverpool even Birmingham doesn't have a top club Wolverhampton is like Leicester or Leeds or Bristol so lower premier or Championship is our level.

Brand Wolves is like Brand Foxes or Brand Rams or Brand Seagulls we should form a zoo league lol.

06 Aug 2017 08:31:20
Ulf - I was born a couple of streets away from Cold Blow Lane where Millwall's former home, The Den, was and my family have lived in the area for centuries. Doesn't make me a Millwall fan.

06 Aug 2017 09:48:26
Window wolf-
Re; wolves/ Wolverhampton not being a big enough city for wolves to be a big club- the city isn't huge but the catchment area is. Must be one of the biggest in the country. from Stafford to Birmingham and Shrewsbury to Tamworth there is no other big club. That's a huge area, probably as big as London. And if I remember correctly was the reason why Morgan decided to buy the club because the potential is huge.

Might be wrong.

06 Aug 2017 11:18:59
Edthewolf1 - you are spot on. However I think we have to accept that the so-called 'big' clubs rely heavily on expensive foreign star players and as such if we were ever to be in the position of trying to buy someone from say Real Madrid and the player had a choice between London and Wolverhampton to move his family to I don't think we'd get him.

06 Aug 2017 11:44:19
DAS- agreed.
It's doubtful we'll ever sign a 'top top' player. We'll probably always sign the potential world class like Neves.
Although saying that, money talks-look at Boro with Ravenelli (sp) and Juninho. with respect Middlesbrough isn't the best area!

06 Aug 2017 12:32:57
Re windowwolf, Edthewolf1 is right about geography, and that is critical, because a vast amount of Wolves catchment potential isnā€™t local urban / working class, itā€™s suburban, rural and middleclass. The club wasnā€™t an urban working class only club in the 1950ā€™s, if it was we wouldnā€™t have had the support and success we had, SJH wouldnā€™t have come back and bothered. It was inclusive and classy, thatā€™s our heritage and potential. Moxey saw us as local urban, said our objective should to be like urban working class Everton (when the correct comparison was glam Liverpool FC) he had it completely wrong.

But thereā€™s much more to it than that. Was in a New York Times article reviewing Mendesā€™s Wolves project, Moxey didn't find a buyer, Fosun employed classy clever Peter Kenyon as their adviser on which English football club to buy, and he recommended Wolves, because our heritage and brand potential makes us sleeping giants, in a way Moxey couldnā€™t comprehend.

I said all this when Morgan put the club for sale, while we were waiting for a buyer before Fosun showed up, predicted a buyer exactly like Fosun whoā€™d put us back at the top of the game, because the brand is worth it, and I predicted theyā€™d change the clubs regime / mentality in exactly how they are doing. No one agreed, said I was a WUM, that weā€™re no different to any other provincial club, and are working class urban. Fosun and what theyā€™re doing prove thatā€™s wrong. What Wolves has is real, very rare and canā€™t be manufactured. We have the unspoiled credentials to be another Man U.

I get slagged off for talking brand and potential, but itā€™s a vital part of the club, itā€™s already the reason Fosun bought us, going forward, being true to it, keeping its integrity, optimising rather than conflicting it will dictate how well regarded and supported domestically we can be, and therefore to some extent also in China, and it will all impact our revenue and success. This last signing, as the striker, will likely define the image of the team, the success it achieves will become part of the clubs heritage. I donā€™t doubt Fosun will achieve football success and get us promoted, thereā€™s more to it than just that, image matters for a club like us and for where we're ultimately headed.

06 Aug 2017 20:51:18
ULF no offence bud do us all a favour and stop going on, some of your posts are ok then you start dribbling rubbish.

with nuno and his staff with all there experience go win this league 3 year plan to get us in europa league the future is bright and the brand is wwfc.

04 Aug 2017 20:46:51
Surely if we've loaned " The Duck", whos done well and scored a couple of wonder goals in pre -season I gather, out, we must have a plan for another striker signing? Surely he was an option in short term. Looks like we might be starting with Bright tomorrow. Great prospect, very skilful but his decision making in and around penalty area is shocking.

06 Aug 2017 08:20:15
He isn't the sharpest tool in the box but he has the skills that the right coach can turn into a more complete player it concerns me that he hasn't developed much since Jackett first brought him in.

04 Aug 2017 11:40:32
I've been told tonight by someone that I trust that we will be bringing in another South American player in the next 4-5 days.
I pestered him to tell me who he was or which position it was but he replied you know I can't tell you that but a South American player will be here in 4 or 5 days.

04 Aug 2017 11:47:44
Tevez. Your Welcome! ;)

04 Aug 2017 11:49:42
I have heard we have enquired about Abel Hernandez. My source seems to tie up with what yours has told you?

04 Aug 2017 11:55:16
I hope its going to be Suarez, he owes me a favour!

04 Aug 2017 12:06:08
Leonardo Ulloa maybe? Now that Iheanacho has signed he must be surplus to requirements. Not much of a footballer, but with the good service he should get from our wingers / wing-backs he should have a field day in the Championship.

04 Aug 2017 12:20:45
Abel Hernandez is a great shout.

04 Aug 2017 12:44:25
I'd be happy with Ulloa!

04 Aug 2017 13:08:38
Abel Hernandez is 26, and has zero connection to us. Would just be bought in success, we'd be a Hull me-too. I thought we needed a striker who was going to be our talisman, connected to us or young enough to become us, to concentrate our identity and add to our brand rather than undermine it.

Thelwell has the Moxey touch. Whatever the merits in terms of footballing and economy reasons, would undermine the project in other ways. I'd rather we just stuck with Dicko and Bonatini. If we're going to buy big Afobe at 24 and with a connection to us already is the only one that makes all round sense and has real brand value. That's why Bournemouth have priced him high to us, because they're clever and know he's worth that much to us. Cleverer than us / Thelwell, already in the Prem.

04 Aug 2017 13:17:10
He was mentioned by htfc website last week they said he would be ideal fit for our style of play.

04 Aug 2017 13:24:43
Villa favourites to sign him.

04 Aug 2017 13:35:50
Yeah this is hear say. I reckon as it's gone quiet wolves have the deal already done. I see two coming from Gray, Afobe and Gallagher. As Gallagher has been touted this week I would say we aren't after him and he was a lambert target. Fosun want premiership football and these two will provide it. With regards to the loan from premiership I reckon it will be afobe. With an option to buy at the end. This keeping us in the remit of FFP but also allowing security for every party involved. There will be many reasons for the hold up mainly to save face of the clubs losing the players and finding replacements. Wolves have it sorted. Also the information from the club indicates this Nuno stating that they are still after quality additions and the Working with Wolves documentary tonight indicates there is going to be a buzz around the club.
Also note the excellent work of the club to create an atmosphere tomorrow I can't wait. Change the ticket prices for one season? Let's get the atmosphere back! UTW.

04 Aug 2017 13:39:24
Blimey, Ulf, there's no stopping you and your brand fetish. Personally I think Afobe could do with branding, maybe with "keep out of Molinuex" after his sulky no show performances in his last 9 months for us. No excuse for that whatsoever as he's a professional footballer and was being paid handsomely.

04 Aug 2017 13:39:43
Will you stop harping on about Afobe, he is yesterday's man and there are much better options available. He may have appeared good at the Mol when he was there but a whippet would have been better at that time.

04 Aug 2017 14:16:09
Ulf you seriously spout utter crap! The only thing that affects a football clubs brand is its league position! You can win the premier league with a team of complete reprobates and you will still be loved. Chelsea haven't been affected by costa, man utd weren't affected by keane, liverpool weren't affected by Suarez. You are so deluded its ridiculous.

04 Aug 2017 14:18:46
Re oldwulf its just how my head works, I have a feel for identity so it gets in the way when its wrong. It's a particular issue for Wolves because we're meant to be reinventing ourselves, after M&M got it so wrong. And I don't agree, I think like lots were wrong about RVLP, who left us to get promoted to Prem with Huddersfield, scored against us, their local paper were describing him as sensational toward end of last season. Putting a shift in can't compete with flair, and flair is often temperamental and difficult.

Overall, I wish the transfer window shut when the season started.

04 Aug 2017 14:20:13
Do you work in marketing Ulf?

04 Aug 2017 14:25:01
Hernandez would be quality. 99% of wolves fans are really excited and enjoying these great signings being brought in and really optimistic about the future of our club. Just enjoy the ride.

04 Aug 2017 14:56:20
re clivewolves, yes, by accident. I was working in a call centre of the Bank Lerner used to own and they put me into marketing and had me professionally educated and qualified. Then I worked for Ladbrokes / the Football Pools for a while. Made them stupid money before I dropped out :-) It's not nice selling debt and gambling. I should do something nice.

04 Aug 2017 15:19:28
Ulf, I don't doubt that you're sincere, but I have a brand new suggestion. Stop rabbeting
on about "brand". You must be the only fan in the world going on about brand. Ask your typical fan what he wants for his football club. He will mostly answer: The title. Promotion. The Champions League. Etc. In your case you will answer: I want to improve our brand! Look mate, they don't give awards, cups, titles or promotions for best brand. I know I'm wasting my time writing this, you will still be all over every Wolves site like a rash, going on about our brand.

04 Aug 2017 16:07:02
Not seen Ulf on the Wolves blog yet Deep. Go on Ulf, give the bloggers on that site the benefit of your wisdom. Should be interesting reading!

04 Aug 2017 16:37:00
Ulf you really are an oxymoron wrapped in a conundrum, so in the past week here are just three entirely conflicting points which you consistently harp on about:
1. You claim to have a strong background in branding and use it as a basis for us getting Afobe whilst seemingly entirely missing that very re-branding for the club which you bang on about. So Fosuns consistent message in every new managers interview has been ā€˜The strength of the wolf is in the packā€™ā€¦. tell me how does signing a sulky, want away striker that put his own ambitions before the teams reinforce that message exactly?
2. When not talking about Afobe you are lambasting Thelwell, without realising he was almost certainly the man who bought both RVP and your favourite player to the club!
3. You also bang on about what a disgrace us taking money from money shop isā€¦. then just admitted that you yourself used to make good money from working with gambling companies! Gambling is about the only thing which is responsible for FAR more pain and destruction in the average house hold! Glass houses and all that fella!
I donā€™t mind all the nonsense but at least try and make it consistent nonsense eh?! ;)

04 Aug 2017 16:37:06
There have been no links from us about this guy but he has been linked with Tottenham do u think Giovanni Simeone would be a good shout?

04 Aug 2017 16:38:14
My guess would be it's someone we have never heard of and we will all be on Google looking at highlight reels as soon as he is announced. Either that or it's a huge name that none of us would expect, maybe chicarito.

{Ed001's Note - he joined West Ham a few days ago, so not Javier Chicarito Hernandez.}

04 Aug 2017 16:59:24
Yes Deep Throat, but then as well, the average fan didn't believe we were worth a buyer like Fosun, didn't believe we were particularly worth someone spending big to push us back up to the top. Since Morgan put the club up for sale I've consistently stated we were worth it (in face of much ridicule), and our brand potential justified precisely what Fosun have embarked on. I realise Fosun see opportunities in China that I never considered, but theyā€™ll be bigger opportunities the bigger we are domestically and in the West. We were the best club anyone serious could have bought.

I agree football success is primary, but it's only a vehicle to generate revenue to cycle back in, to generate ever more profile and support. That support will be much easier to achieve, it will grow faster bigger and further, the more inclusive and attractive the brand is and the more integrity it has. It needs to be heroic, older strikers with no connection to us brought in to do a job is mercenary, a bit cynical, and not very heroic. If these are the roots of our revolution, because in 10yrs weā€™ll be massive, the more integrity they have the better, itā€™s part of our reinvention and will be part of our identity. Itā€™s not architecture itā€™s like a painting to me, some things just donā€™t fit or have the wrong texture, other things are just naturally right. Iā€™m keen on Afobe because he already fits.

Once the season has started and I can gel with the new team, Iā€™ll be happy, glad when the transfer window shuts so can just support the team. I'd support whoever is in the team and playing / trying for us.

04 Aug 2017 17:03:08
Was joking ed.

04 Aug 2017 17:05:25
Old Wulf, I'm not trying to compete or say anyone else is wrong, I'm just sharing feel and vision I know is right, that would optimise the club overall. We're going to be enough of a success regardless :-)

04 Aug 2017 17:11:27
BullysBoy.

Oxymoron wrapped in a conundrum? Love it.

've noted serious inconsistencies in Ulf's ramblings and sometimes readied myself to respond, but by which time he's posted multiple more ramblings and I can't keep up. Scatter-gun approach.

I'm reminded of someone much wiser than me who once said:
"It's better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and confirm it".

04 Aug 2017 17:43:13
I don't think it will b gray Afobe or Gallagher it will possibly b someone we've never heard of fosun now what there doing Nuno stated already there not finished on transfers it will b big if we only playing one striker up front it's got to b a 20 to 25 goal man and we need him quick.

04 Aug 2017 17:44:36
Duckens nazon signed for Coventry on loan.

04 Aug 2017 18:22:30
Dickens Nazon loan deal until January. Worth following his progress as a return to Wolves in January will have him up to speed if he has the ability. If not then we will offload. Good move all around.

04 Aug 2017 18:31:59
Deepthroat you hit the nail on the heaf with your last quote!

04 Aug 2017 18:36:01
Re BullysBoy

1) Iā€™m not a brand architect, you have to be posh to do that. Iā€™m an artist who can just see whatā€™s real. The strength of the wolf is in the pack, is from this Chinese commercial ideology, thatā€™s a fusion of Capitalist aggression and Communist community ā€“ they compete, but in and for community. It perfectly matches us and our heritage / Black Countries small/ medium enterprising history:

Wolf Totem

2) I wonder if Thelwell is identifying people by stats, not realising itā€™s not about being tradesmen who will do a shift. I fear some of M&Mā€™s flawed understanding of the World has rubbed off on Thelwell, the way they threw Afobe under the bus for not putting a shift in when theyā€™d broken his morale implies zero clue about flair. Maybe seen in how RVLP was treated and thrown under a bus too. Heā€™s now sensational, according to their local press.

Obviously though, if that was a problem, Mendes and Nuno is the fix, obviously great with flair. I'll forget it all once we've effectively replaced Afobe, which we never did. I hope Bonatini clicks.

3) I didnā€™t aim to do that work it just happened to me, I didnā€™t market for loan sharks, only credit cards and only marketed pools / lottery things, not hard core gambling. And I did end up dropping out, after making the Ladbrokes subsidiary that was supposed to be a declining business so much money they ended up on front of Hilton Groups annual report. Magic :-)

04 Aug 2017 18:54:37
At the end of the day we all want the best for our great club. I as much as the next man.
If that means Afobe Gray or whoever NES decides is the man to get the goals it doesn't matter we all want the same and that is the Wolves in the premier league at the end of the season.

04 Aug 2017 20:08:50
Abel Hernandez in my opinion would be better than all the other striker links we've had so far bar maybe Gray. He is also Uraguain which is in line with what Tiptonwolf has been told. If we recruit in any other position for our next signing other than a striker the owners need their heads testing.

04 Aug 2017 20:47:27
I agree bigcheese, in so much I don't doubt Fosun will succeed and get us to the Prem, hopefully this Season. I think we've got the best possible owners and have an interesting and exciting future :-)

04 Aug 2017 23:43:54
I don't get the excitement about the possibility of either Hernandez from Hull or Ulloa from Leicester. Don't nt rate either of them at all. For me neither are in the same class as Aboubakar, Afobe or Gray. I do think we will bring in another striker but like others on here have said it's likely to be another one we've never heard of before.
