Thought he was without a club after leaving blues. his wages will be as huge as he is.
He's settled in the area with a family and won't command huge wages anymore. As a back-up he'll be fine.

Max Clayton, would be a quality signing, can play up top on either wing and no doubt behind the front man
To add to my last comment, Young quick and has an eye for goal, played almost 100 league games although he's only 19, I've always rated him and ashley westwood when they were at crewe, look at westwood now, a decent premier league CM in my opinion. So who knows what this Clayton is capable of

No ed he was but Sunderland ended it as they didn't want to pay up to 1 mil compensation to Crewe
If you think about this it's the cheaper way of getting out if Chris wood. Maybe max clayton is better and probably has a better future and is English. Not sure we could call him homegrown though

Why take a punt on a player who may not perform at championship level when Wood is proven at that level and is also only a few years older.
Its not a "punt", he wouldn't be first team immediately, IMO if they were to sign Clayton they'd also be after that other striker to challenge Clarke and Dicko. Clayton would probably be loaned out
Probably would be loaned to a promotion chasing league 1 side, orient, Preston, Peterborough, Doncaster, Barnsley
