Alot are commenting on Owens fitness and injuries but i watched him on 'Goals On Sunday' a couple of weeks ago saying that if he plays for a club where he gets regular football he will stay fit. He says that he doesn't know why but if he only plays a game once a month he just picks up injuries which is why he had to part company with United. Couldn't see him coming to us on pay as you play as some Wolves fans have suggested, if he does it will be more like a nice big signing on fee and a nice salary. We have the money and Morgan knows him well.

Maybe he should have tried harder in training then?

He also said he would only join a Prem club

26 Aug 2012 23:33:05
Owen 2 stoke on match of the day

26 Aug 2012 23:24:10
Apparently the marquee signing is John Carew. For the love of god I hope this is utter rubbish and not true.

Gibo.

I wouldn't class him as a marquee signing at all? Frank Nouble's better than him.

No thank you

26 Aug 2012 23:21:31
Berra on his way to Celtic

Good, Paul Tamworth

Super stuff. He will be clearly be capable for the riggers of the SPL.
Gibo.

26 Aug 2012 23:03:51
Ed where did this 'mysterious signing' rumour come from? {Ed011's Note - It apparently started off from a guy who claimed to be an agent on twitter, then gathered considerable pace and Wolves Fan Groups on Facebook began to circulate it.

Its steffen iversen he coming back to help good friend stale

26 Aug 2012 22:37:42
This time last season we were (briefly) top of the premier.

Just thought I'd mention that.

McWulf

Doesn't bode well for Chelsea then..

Reasonably sure of two things. They will not be there at the end, and they will do better than we just did.

26 Aug 2012 22:23:54
Could it be the one and only Robbie Keane

Wolfie (E&S)

No thanks! Greedy barstool

Doubt it. would be great though

TDW

It's John Carew Yes John Carew Watch This Space! {Ed011's Note - FFS!

If he does come will he say we were the only club he would have signed for .......and supported us when he was..........

26 Aug 2012 23:07:05
Would be nice, but ive just seen on twitter it could be john carew, i hope not, he is norwegien though which makes one link but didnt play prem last season?

I thought Carew was going to Valerenga in Norway.

If this counts as a coup might aswell get Heskey in to put the icing on the cake.

26 Aug 2012 22:16:43

26 Aug 2012 21:56:54
I wouldnt actually mind having Owen if Fergie bought him for Man utd surely he's good enough for us. Plus don't think his age matters look at kevin Philips.

Owen says he won't drop out of PL. Shame because I agree, he will do well in the Championship.

26 Aug 2012 21:47:20
SteveBullStand - FootieAgentKing has just tweeted that the mysterious player played in England last season?

{Ed011's Note - It seems to be gathering pace that we're signing significant someone tomorrow. People on a certain Social network have used the words "biggest signing in the clubs history". We shall see.

Which striker was on loan in the premier last season???

So is the player a free agent or are they still at a club.

Berbatov 3 month loan???

Robbie keane

Robbie Keane?!?!?

We've re-signed Fletcher.

Thierry henry?

MESSSSSSSIIII!!!

West ham want there money back

It's a BankHoliday -so no-one will be signing.

Uuhhhh if it's Theirry Henry I'd rubbish my pants.

Norman Stanley Fletcher!!

Chamakh perhaps, not getting agame at Arsenal

Kenny Miller.

Henryk Larrson?

Steve Morrison, Norwich
Roque Santa Cruz, Man City
Victor Anichebe, Everton

Much more likely

Dont want anymore jocks

26 Aug 2012 21:45:25
this major coup played in england last year via social network site {Ed011's Note - I saw the tweet too, I've asked the guy if he can tell us the division but doubt he will reply or tell me which one if he does.

26 Aug 2012 21:12:17
{Ed011's Note - I'm hearing that Bakary Sako signed a contract with us this evening and is now a Wolves player!

Should be Officially announced tomorrow but France Football has been quoted as saying that Wolves target, Bakary Sako, has returned to France after looking around Wolves with fee already agreed.! Here's a little more on Bakary Sako:

He's a 24-year-old French national of Malian decent, he was capped 10 times for France U21s but hasn't played for France although I recall seeing an article not long ago saying that he was being scouted by the Malian National team and could be called up.

He is predominantly a left winger although can play on the right and is strong with both feet. He is also pacey, strong and has a rocket of a left foot.

Below is a translated article from a French football website:

"Bakary Sako not face this Sunday Stade Brest (1700) on behalf of the third day of L1. Etienne midfielder has been excused from the game by its leaders so that they can go to Wolverhampton (D2 English) negotiate the transfer. The ASSE offered him a contract extension of two years but the player wishes to leave the Forez. He must find a base later than August 30, when the ultimatum imposed by his club. Under contract until June 2013, Sako has received a release this summer."

(Also to you FIFA players out there, as of FIFA 12 he was rated at 76 with a potential of 81!)

Speedster on FIFA too.

{Ed011's Note - Tim Nash - "And despite reports to the contrary, Wolves tell me there's no decision been made on Bakary Sako, or any other player for that matter."

26 Aug 2012 20:46:47
SteveBullStand - This Michael Owen rumour might have some truth in it because of the following.
There is the Liverpool link between Morgan and Owen .
Apparently they are good friends which could be true.
They banked £24.75m off Jarvis and Fletcher so they've got the money for him.
He's looking to stay in England .
He also tweeted in May 2011 that he bought his son the England strip but his Five year old son wanted a Wolves kit instead.
Also Wolves are 4/1 to sign Owen.

Even though he wants a premier league club, but I reckon he could come to us.

It might be true or might not , but there is a chance.

I think he will sign for stoke city

Owen is going to Everton his boyhood team

This is a tough one not straight forward at all. His injury record v his goal record

He is clear of injuries now

27 Aug 2012 00:33:10
Nope. The twitter "ITKs" think there's some sort of fee involved with another club. Owen is a free agent.

26 Aug 2012 20:04:27
Wolves have agreed a fee with St Ettienne for Bakary Sako.

Signed, will be anounced tomoz.

Strong player with a hard shot and good free kick. Not very pacey for a left midfielder but good tekkers and like to cut in side. another big lad.

Mills wolf

One of the better rumours on here. James Fielden has said the player was at the club today looking round after a fee had been agreed. Not sure if personal terms have been agreed though.

26 Aug 2012 19:55:57
Rumours linking us with Cameron Jerome

Yea just what we need. A striker who doesn't score.

Please no!

No thanks Tony.

No thanks! Watched loads of Blues games and I can safely say hes a Donkey!

26 Aug 2012 19:07:54
forget this young and hungry idea to become one of the leaders in the championship you also need guile and experience to build on

SteveBullStand - Doyle? Henry? Johnson?

26 Aug 2012 18:51:57
Im not being defeatest and i am a realist. But wouldnt it be nice to raise all the gloom over the last season, if we bought a proven quality player people couldnt wait to see play week in week out. I know you have to attract them , but there must
be someone surely !

Any ideas??

Went saturday.somebody spotted wolve
s manager.then later saw kevin pto a wedding at the mount hilips

kev ilips philips

26 Aug 2012 18:22:55
someone on twitter said wolves will sign a massive coup to replace fletcher and will be the highest earner! he also said that hes a good friend of morgan so ive heard rumours about michael owen with the liverpool link with morgan, just a rumour though {Ed011's Note - Apparently it was rubbish.

Jay Spearing?

Ian Rush ?

I think its a striker to replace fletch

This is true but its not owen

Paul McCartney?

Roony {Ed011's Note - We don't want him he's injured ;)

It's jez moxey

Heskey

Man City are trimming the squad we're getting............Robert Taylor

26 Aug 2012 17:33:19
Tim Nash Reports Michael Owen NOT joining Wolves

No he said he dont think he will, he didnt say NO?

Please stop this silly talk about own coming to wolves he wants to stop in the premiership

Michael Owen was on talk sport this morning saying he will be joining a club this week with a view to regular first team games. Asked if it was premiership team he said he was now at that time in his career to accept playing at a lower level.

26 Aug 2012 13:51:35
if and its a big if how many wolves fans would want michael owen if the rumours were true.

Proven goalscorer I think he'd be superb in the championship most will probably disagree though.

An injury free Michael Owen would score 20 goals easily, but would he stay fit?

Exactly if its true do we take a chance or go after rhodes

Just putting two and two together ,and possibly coming up with 79.The football agent who started this rumour also tweeted his is in Liverpool , a fellow poster mentioned Victor Anichebe could possibly be on his ways here.Just surmising here.
Gibo.

Potential goals would be nice but I think I'd be more interested in the effect he would have on the rest of the team

Rhodes and Owen?? I could live with that! Paul Tamworth

Would love to see Owen here, his experience alone would help develop some of the younger players, great bloke!!

Tim nash just said Owen won't be coming to wolves

Well Tim Nash has said its not happening and from what Owen has said it never seemed to be a goer.

Thank god for that ,,we dont need another crock

On t****er it could be berbatov

Michael Owen has no real interest in football anymore, we would just be carrying him. I'm interested in the rumour about the Norweigen striker at Hannover. {Ed011's Note - Mohammed Abdellaoue? Maybe next year if we go up but I'd be impressed if we got him whilst in the championship, mind you we can't doubt the Solbakken Effect.

On a personal note this Owen rumour to us has helped pass a dreary Sunday , lol.
Gibo. {Ed011's Note - Gibo you obviously haven't heard it has progressed to Berbatov to Wolves!! Haha people must be booored today!!

Mohammed Abdellaoue now that would be a signing

26 Aug 2012 17:51:08
This is the fool starting the rumour , footyagentking

Gibo

Michael Owen's more into horses these days anyway. He's always at the races.. Think he owns a couple 2.. Hey. There's always Dunstall Park for him 2 have a flutter? Not far from the Mol? Lol.

Berbatov now ? haha.
Gibo.

I think we would be better off spending money on players to create chances for the strikers we have got, and then if it™s not working spend the money in January. They had one chance each yesterday one hit the bar and the other scored.

We need a striker thats going to mobile, put defenders under pressure, play off the shoulder at times, be a physical pressance. We already have seb who's more of a poacher.

Mills wolf {Ed011's Note - Sigurdarson!

Cameron Jerome allegedly

26 Aug 2012 12:56:15
{Ed011's Note - Rumours coming in from a popular online social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters that because of the editor guidelines I am bound by I cannot name, but rhymes with sh*tter, someone who claims to be a football agent has said the following:

"Great day at #wolves today always a friendly welcome, there is money available and there will be a few coming in within the week Had a really productive meeting after the match today regarding fletchers replacement... #wolves fans can be excited"

"Wolves fans can I just stress that this deal has not yet been completed BUT there have been positive negotiations. Steve Morgan is working away to make this deal happen, he is a personal friend of the player and #wolves are the only team in championship he would consider signing for because of this friendship, he would become the highest paid at the club, there is still a little way to go But the signs are positive...there are more talks planned for tomorrow and I will update you then"

He claims that the signing would be a real coup and describes the player as Fletcher's replacement. Rumour is that it is Michael Owen but I want to empahsise that this guy could be making all of this up, but we'll see as he said he can name the player later today.

{Ed011's Note - Michael Owen says: "I have been in contact with quite a few teams and I definitely expect to be donning a new shirt quite soon." Reported 2 hours ago by BBC Sport. He goes on to apparently hint that he'd rather stay in the Premier League saying "The quality of the team and the manager is important and I'd prefer it to be in the Premier League,". I'm just reporting all that I can on this, to be honest I'd be VERY surprised if he came to Wolves, even though the manager has changed I wouldn't expect our young and hungry policy to change so drastically that we'd be signing a 32-year-old player who'd be on the highest wages who hasn't played regular football for a good amount of time.

Just read this on another site and think it could be possible.it was well reported he was on 15k per week in the papers last week at man utd. We coul afford that?

Yeah he was on £15k p/w at Man Utd but this was offset by HUGE appearance and goal bonuses. We could affordthe headline wage but to be able to pay him added bonuses could be a stretch. Owen though, what a statement of intent that would be!

Was he not on a pay as you play deal ? cant see us signing that injury prone player.
Gibo.

It could be Robbie Fowler I hear he is after a club.

AW

26 Aug 2012 15:01:21
The account on twitter that tweeted about this has been deleted. Makes me think this is just someone messing around. {Ed011's Note - Tim Nash has said he's not joining too. Oh well, Sako looks immense!

Well they need to do something. If Wolves are in the market for a top striker that only fuels the rumour of Doyle going to Everton. I personally would prefer Lambert from Southampton-especially as Blackburn are after him also.

The player is Harry Kewell

I doubt we are signing owen since he wants to play in the premier league

26 Aug 2012 11:52:19
Why are fans saying we dont need another striker. SEB is lazy. Doyle is not an out and out striker. Lst Fletcher.. get someone who can put the ball in the net.Get rid of Berra,he wants to go anyway, and Zubars looking shakey. Finally get rid of Stearman. Replace with quality, then hey presto "premier league again. Simples . Come on me babies {Ed011's Note - We haven't given Sigurdarson a chance yet! Nor Nouble! But we'll see

Thought Doyle and seb were good yesterday and worked tirelessly. They both need to regain confidence but some nice touches and good stuff from both, Doyle took his goal well seb was very unlucky not to score when he hit the bar. With new sigmings in midfield and wings they will get better service and will score loads. Sigs looks class aswell.

I'm pretty sure everyone wishes it was that "simples". It isn't football manager.

Wake up, we aren't signing the Owen that scored against Argentina, it will be the injury prone player that hasn't started a game for 2 years. {Ed011's Note - That's if we sign him...

Ikeme was superb, but i hate to say it but i still dont trust him

With regard to Doyle and SEB yes they worked hard yesterday but they are not going to get us enough goals to get us where we want to be, we are not a strong attacking team. Give Nouble a run at some point.

Well, I trusted Wayne and look what he did when dithering with a kick out against Manchester City! I also think that Ikeme deals better with crosses than WH.

26 Aug 2012 11:35:22
What's happening with Kello? I know Ikeme played well for Wolves but i'd prefer Kello WHEN De Vries leaves for Liverpool. {Ed011's Note - I was impressed by Ikeme but admit I haven't seen anything of Kello.

U prefer kello but u avent seen him play hmmm that make sense?

Ikeme looked superb yesterday ,he as not not put a foot wrong yet plus the defence look more solid with him in goal

Kello who has had 4 years playing in Britain and always got good reports from Hearts fans.

All i'm saying is that De Vries WILL Go and i'd prefer to see Kello in rather than rely on Ikeme until Hennessey is fit. Maybe Kello as number 2 - but at least we got options.

26 Aug 2012 11:27:18
I know we looked really poor yesterday and some fans are trying to paper over it again but it really could be worse.
we could be Villa fans (down down) lol

Or even Bloonoses. I see they're doing well under their new messiah.

26 Aug 2012 11:22:31
Oh dear
Me thinks Jarvis might have made a major blunder in his career. hope the lad can turn it around but i think joining WHU is a backward step plus without Ward he is half the player

I think he will struggle at West Ham. He was a real focal point for us when Mccarthy was here, most of our attacks went through him. Not sure he will have that same status at West Ham... A shame he went to a club managed by Allardyce, not exactly going to develop his passing game...

I was quite happy when the 'ammers were beaten convincingly yesterday.I'm not bitter that Jarvis went to them or left , but it is the ultimate case of be careful of what you wish for. They are in the mire this season also I suspect Villa could drop out of the premier league too.
Gibo.

You're not bitter, but you're glad they lost? ...sound bitter to me

26 Aug 2012 09:27:41
{Ed011's Note - A couple of days ago this article was posted:

"St Etienne attacking midfielder Bakary Sako is being offered to Premier League clubs.

The Daily Mail says English clubs are keen on Sako. The French club are ready to offload the 24-year-old at a reduced fee following off-pitch incidents.

West Ham United and Stoke City are among clubs to have been made aware of Sako's availability."

But it may be like there has been no firm interest in him from Premier clubs and recently I found this online article which has been translated from French newspaper Le Progress:

"Baky Sako was Saturday at Wolverhampton in England (D2), where he was visiting the club facilities and continue negotiations well underway."

And this one by the same website/ paper:

"Baky Sako was not yesterday's workout. And for good reason. It announced in England and more specifically in Wolverhampton (D2), where he was visiting ..."

(... And Baky Sako is Bakary Sako)

Do we really need someone who has an attitude issue and can cause trouble!!

Nice digging ed!!
If these are the sorts of players we are after it should be very exciting to be down the molinuex this season!

It's going to be an exciting week this week. Up to the end of the transfer window. With many surprises like this rumour!! UTW

Apparently he is all but ours.He was at yesterdays match and doing the rounds is he is currently finalizing talks with Uncle Jez at the Molineux.

Gibo.

I don't care how a player behaves off the pitch as long as he does a good job on it! Il take anyone after yesterday. Paul Tamworth

Technically very gifted just hope we're getting players with prem in mind

I know fans who're still struggling to get Tongo Doumbia's name right! Imagine if we get Bakary Sako and Razak Boukary! Still they look like they could be quality additions! Onwards and upwards, come on you Wolves!

Funny how the other day someone was saying african players are no good. now were being linked with a few

TDW

Googled him and looks like there are several german clubs after him as well..

Well we must get there before ze germans do...

Put a towel on him and he is ours!

26 Aug 2012 08:19:39
Just read on another wolves transfer rumour site that we may be looking at Victor Anichibe, Everton striker and Seamus Coleman, full back. Don't know whether this is speculation in relation to Doyle and Ward going the other way. Only prob is Coleman is a right back/winger not left sided!

Victor Anichebe would make sense but cant Coleman dropping out of the Prem at all. He is way too good, isnt he still an Everton regular?

Monk

26 Aug 2012 03:00:40
The teams that win the premier league do so by being able to win when playing poorly. We have managers to draw ( and come sighing a minuet of wining) when playing poorly against a derby side who ain't no pushovers (may even challenge top 6) so we got a point from playing poorly surely that has to be a positive

26 Aug 2012 02:37:11
Watching the football league show today made me wonder why West Ham paid £10m for Jarvis. I'm sure Tom Ince would have been cheaper. He looked unbelievable today. 4 assists and 2 goals. Blackpool will be lucky to keep him in the next few days.

It's mainly because Big Sam is, as they say in that part of the world, a toby jug.

He looks like a Toby Jug to be fair.

No idea why Liverpool let Ince go. We should offer £5-6m for him now. He will be a star in the prem

They(blackpool) are in no position where they have to sell so i doubt we would get him. maybe a prem team would but we are promotion rivals to blackpool so they wont sell him to us less we pay big money

26 Aug 2012 00:15:52
Don't know if my last post got through as got cut off.

I am ashamed to be a Wolves fan right now. Not because of the team but the brainless detritus I have to share the stands with.

Do they not realise that it takes time to change a team and build for the future. Would any wolves fans take SIR Alex as manager, I think they would take the most successful manager in English football wouldn't you? But Sir Alex didn't walk into Old Trafford and suddenly have the team or results he wanted, IT TOOK TIME.So much time in fact that the press were calling for him to be sacked in 1989 it was 4 years after he took over that he had any success.
Stale will be good for this club IF THE FANS LET HIM and looking at who he has signed so far it looks like he has an eye for talent, On the other hand if the morons who expect 5-0 wins from the offset boo at every game why should he stay.

Really wish the fans would be patient and don't give me the they deserve success, they don't unless they get behind their team and be that 12th man on the pitch.

Too many times playing at Molineux is like playing an away game.

Come on Wolves!

Could agree more mate patience is the key to every good thing it will happen when? Maybe this season maybe next just along as we keep the faith. Its a working progress he's had to come in change everything and set up his own thing the players will need time to adjust.

Well said!! 3 Games, 4 points with a very unsettled team isn't too bad.

Didn't Reading have a shocking first few months of last season?

Yep , Reading were 16th in the league last November.Time and patience are the main things we need to remember , plus Doyle broke his duck that too is a positive.

Gibo.

Stale doesn't have four years - he has a three year deal - but I agree with what you're saying

Lets wait till new players are in dont worry i will be first to blow my top if we are b/s up the wolves ps need a few champship players too

I really don't know, but what I do know is that Birmingham are playing absolute sh!t thank god we didn't go for Lee Clarke!

Actually he has a 1 year deal not sure wether its a rolling contract

WILKO

Totally agree. Had the brainless neandothal behind us yesterday who was old enough to know better and old enough to have have seen enough Wolves games over the years. At the final whistle all he heard was swearing and shouting towaards Stale. So called support like that we dont need. We could all see the failings in the team (Jarvis especially was missed yesterday) but hopefully so could the board. Perhaps now this will make them help Stale more to bring in quality replacements. As for some of the subs it was obvious that they were in a shop window. As others have posted patience is the key at the moments while everyone beds in but at least we are not watching losses week in week out!

I agree went to the game yesterday and witnessed someone who grew up near me booing and shouting obscenities at the Derby fans as his son (around 8yrs old) joined in. Used to be a STH on South Bank and binned it due to fat naer do wells slagging off the team every home game.ps. the new stand is fantastic.

25 Aug 2012 23:49:06
So called fans already saying/implying Stale isn't good enough after 4 competitive games. Most of the squad has been playing rubbish football for the past 3 to 5 years and got relegated last season which is a creator sized dent in confidence and team morale. Stale has had 2 months to impose his style of play on the team and so far you can see there have been improvements, but you cannot fully teach a whole team how to play the way you want them to in 2 months when the majority of them are stuck in McCarthy's mode. 4 points from a possible 9 so far is not that bad for a team that is still evolving and being added to. So stop being so negative and be positive. For Christs sake look at the quality of the players we have been linked with in the past 48 hours. If you cant see that Stale is the man who can put this club where it should be then i suggest you go down the road next week and start supporting that lot because your doing no good down here!

TDW

Wolves fans are nag always have been fickle and like to moan.

However as you rightly state we have watched rubbish football for 3 years, we have seen money spent on a stand we didnt need while we slide out of the prem and we have seen an amateurish cock up in the non appointment of Curbishley to replace Mick.

So can you blame fans for losing a bit of goodwill?

Sometimes the club or the team need to kick start the crowd with either an unexpected marquee signing or a dazzling performance.

And for all our our moaners we are still one of the best supported clubs around and turn up week in week out.

For what its worth I think the club redeemed itself itself somewhat with the appointment of Stale and he deserves our support but I can understand why some people are cynical.

Monk
