Gus Poyet has asked Brighton to allow him to speak to Wolves

20 Feb 2012 20:09:20
Reading FC boss McDermott in talks with Wolves. this is there head line on the local newspaper.

Approached and interviewed before and second interview tonight

This is true

It stated he was on the shortlist, not that he had been approached

This saga is bordering on a classic monty python show! Our proud heritage is being dragged through this so called interview process i mean new evidence came to light this weekend of the possible destination of lord lucan is he next to turn down morgan and moxeys desperate approach about the job.Ps if it is lucan who is gonna be his number 2 Captain scott of the antartic ............sigh

This what it says on getreading.o.uk: Getreading understands that Royals boss Brian McDermott met with Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this evening about the vacant manager™s job at the Premier League side.

Sources suggest that McDermott is due to meet incoming Reading owner Anton Zingarevich tomorrow and the Russian is believed to be keen to keep the 50-year-old at Madejski Stadium.

Wolves, who sacked Mick McCarthy a week ago, are also believed to be in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet and another potential candidate.

Reading are in a good position in league, plus potential investment next year...why would he come to us?

On twitter John Fordham on talksport tonight to talk about Mcdermott and express and star saying def approached Brighton!!!Heard anything else Ed? {Ed013's Note - I understand there is an approach to Brighton for Poyet, but still awaiting their response}

Wolves have been told to get Poyet it will cost £2.5 million.

Next.

His emotional Yes..but remember only recent win was when Morgan burst into the dressing room and gave them a bollocking ...he's irish which is a plus..and he will stand up to moxey which is a good thing..

20 Feb 2012 19:23:46
Brighton has blocked any contact.from.wolves for poyet and gus himself has said he wants the totnarm gig.
Morgan and moxey have held interviews today with
Phil Brown
Dave Jones
Paul jewell
Tomorow they will interview
paul ince
roy keane before makining there anouncement on wednesday morning
reliable source has.been right many times befor and not a newspaper hawk like wolvesinsider

God help us please! unless we get a real big name with real ability and proven track record and experience cant see the point in axeing MM.

Basically you have chosen all the sh%$&e managers and said we're looking for them. Dream on Baggie

If you think these are the s#*t ones u are deluded who wants a 13game contract with possible relagation at end? Thatwould look good on cv. My souce is reliable. I am not a baggie i suppose you want mik back or how about avram grant. I didnt say any of them would get job they are just being intetviewed phil brown is a serious contendor.though pl experiance and willing for a 13game trial. This is a rumour site isnt it less of abuse please i did say i am not.wolves insider

Name me one instance where you have posted anything that has come true?
Out of those, Dave Jones is the only good suggestion

Whats your reading age mate. Where did my post state i had posted anything before about wolves my souce gives me good info regarding a handfull of teams including wolves i will no longer post on.wolves site and if u continue ur petty vendeta against the rumours/info on.this site u will.eventually not have a site to post on or read from wen everyone else gets fed up with you so it will end up a wba /petamist.

This is a rumour site isnt it. The replys are getting as repetative as the rumours but would rather just read the rumours. If you.dont like the rumours just click disagree no need to hang the messanger

20 Feb 2012 19:16:46
collymore said on radio 5 that moyes was morgans first choice

So what choice are we onto now - maybe our 8th. unless of course its all a smoke screen and we are all going to be very suprised and very happy. roll on the press conference - this is killing me!!

Im sure most chairmen would want him...it aint gona happen tho

Moyes is about 15 EPL clubs first choice - is that any news? Rafa was Morgans first choice, Curbishley second and he has messed both up!!

No, he said Moyles was his first choice off radio 1.

Collymore works for talksport

20 Feb 2012 18:39:31
Driven past Morgan's Pad today with various camera crews camped outside the gates, inside the gates was a Rolls Royce with the No plate SFC ??

I don't even know what that means???

Quinn left suinderland to take over at wolves?

Where does he live?

Does it stand for "Steve's Footbal Circus" stands a chance cus if you didnt realise it Mr Morgan we are looking like a bunch of clowns.

SFC1 number plate belongs to either Peter Coates or Humphries from Stoke, doubt that means anything really?

Whats Curbishleys wifes name?

Probably nothing more than a social call.

I also drove past and saw an aston martin with the licence plate 007 this narrows it down to connery, lazenby, moore, dalton, brosnan or craig more interviews me thinks.........

Why are we waiting ,why aew we waiting etc etc etc

If it had have said KFC that's moxeys car!

20 Feb 2012 18:18:23
we have inquired about poyet

Yeh been on sky....The worrying thing is that Wolves are becoming a laughing stock!
When we sacked madmick we should have had 4 candidates in line and stuck to them......we are becoming a joke now and panicking as the Chairman and Moxey can not lure the people they want - The manager is the most important member of the team and we are doing everything on the cheap!

Shocking

Just read about this on SSN, seems like we are going around in despearation to get a man in for 25th, looking rather knee jerk. surely we had an idea of who we wanted before we axed MM. HAPPY DAYS!! my moneys on David Haye!

Well, his odds have come down a lot. Now 3rd favourite.

I think he would be good still rather have clark

Also i do agree that we should of known who we wanted to replace MM i mean notts county sacked allen yday or sat (carnt remember) n they got there man already keith curle

Clark is now favourite, Bruce second and Poyet now third. I know a lot of people might not want Clark but his record in league football is excellent plus he turned an average player in Rhodes into a goal machine.

Right, well no conversations yet with Poyet and all the news sites seem to have this one. So 2 ifs - Brighton grant permission AN D the interview goes well.

Betfair now showing Poyet favourite (just).

Also Reading FC are giving permission for Brian McDermott to talk the circus goes on!

20 Feb 2012 21:03:37
It's an enquiry to his club, Brighton, about speaking to him. See
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11699/7534501/Wolves-make-Poyet-enquiry

20 Feb 2012 18:15:23
gus poyet....u heard it here first etc etc...well its been on ssn as well

20 Feb 2012 18:01:31
Wolves have issued a statement saying there will be no public access to the Compton Training ground this week. I have it on good authority that there will be a press conference at 11am tomorrow, although no names have been mentioned

Where have you seen this statement

It has been posted on the offical WWFC fan page on Facebook

Probably hasn't. This is a rumour site.

20 Feb 2012 17:42:37
Alan Curbishley says NO

Steve Maclaren says he wants the job and is ready to talk to Wolves

Not another ex England manager please

Briam mcdermotts odds have been slashed..perhaps his reading connections will wake up doyle n hunt

So have Strachans, 33/1 to 14/1

So has Souness! You can get him at 8/1 at Ladbrokes.

20 Feb 2012 17:41:28
Curbishley not interested - Just in case anyone has any doubts:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17098513

And to confirm my previous posts, Bruce has doubts also, which is why Morgan and Moxey may have to look elsewhere.

Bruce is still an option but he will be demanding concessions from Wolves.

Morgan and Moxey will look at Lee Clark, Gordon Strachan and Paul Ince next - but Morgan and Moxey are concerned that only Strachan will have the ability to save Wolves inside 13 games.

The other names are Peter Reid, George Graham and David O'Leary but there are also rumours suggested that Morgan and Moxey might approach the already employed Steve Maclaren.

Please someone put us out of our missery, we need to know whether to renew season ticket or not.

20 Feb 2012 16:43:21
Mark my words.. The two M's see either Souness or Keane as the short term fix.
Both are up for it. Morgans choice is Souness.
You'll see...

Id put my money on Souness I heard weeks ago before Mccarthy had the sack Morgan had spoken to him about him managing again and there big pals!Ithink it would be a good choice, hewont take any crap and will certainly motivate.

Been a wolves fan since i was 6 ,been season ticket holder since 1987 and mccarthy's last 3 seasons left a sour taste in my month so if bruce comes im calling it a day ,,,,,they're the same manager

Souness did try to buy Wolves a few years back....Morgan was one of his backers!!
Maybe there is a bit of mileage in this story....lets see

Souness now 4th favourite. Shows what one rumour on this board can do can do.

Souness is allegedly involved in a takeover bid at Rangers, so not convinced he would take the job, if this is true

20 Feb 2012 15:59:57
UPDATE: Curbishley has I can confirm rejected the Wolves offer after recent talks and the deal is completely off. Steve Bruce is the current favourite to land the job however second interviews have been scheduled with four other candidates: Ian Holloway, Roy Keane, Kevin Keegan and Ray Wilkins although it seems like at the moment the outright leader in terms of getting the managerial post is definitely Steve Bruce.

'FWF'.

Cant see bruce been a fans favourite

Yeah mate - your last 'scoop' was Curbs had DEFINITELY signed a contract and a press conference was today......
Stop making stuff up!!

You didn't mention Souness. And I know fo a fact he's in the frame.

Nonsense,Ian holloway hasn't even had a first interview

Souness?? how you so sure?

As I've heard it Curbishley definitely out of the running as is Steve Bruce. Both over contractual issues, not happy about only getting a 13 game contract and transfer budgets. Ian Holloway is known to have distanced himself from the role. The chances of OGS leaving Molde FK to take a contract for 13 games to me seems absurd (he was mentioned below). Lee Clark seems most likely at the moment, I'll get an update from my "source" later this evening.

An initial agreement was made, but Curbs changed his mind. Not my fault, I can't control the actions of another human being and it was his decision to take.

Kevin keegan would be great doubt he would come to wolves

Kevin Keegan? Boyhood Wolves Fan?

For god sake we cant have bruce cos he is just mmcarthy 2 ,,,,,the fans will boo him straight away if he starts losing

20 Feb 2012 15:34:15
Ok folks, according to the e+s, Curbishley has dropped out of the race, because he couldn't agree with Morgan over the running and future of the club, long term..........so who does that realistically leave us with........ill guess the sticking point was funds or lack of,so we can rule Benitez out now as he would want cash for transfers in the new season without a doubt,so it looks bolted on for Bruce..............I really don't know what to think about that in truth......I'm a bit shell shocked at the apparent incompetence shown by the board and owner,it was apparent months ago that we were relegation bound and struggling tactically, the warning signs were screaming they were so obvious, and at a time when 2 really good managers were available, and looking for work.indecision is a greater affliction than blind haste'which I'm fearing we will now witness.

What a complete cock up! The Board should hang their heads in shame. I have been a supporter for 50 years through thick and thin, and there's been plenty of the latter but nothing that compares to this. The truth is they have reached a stage where no-one wants the job because they know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. I despair!!!

Could not agree more - out of the frying pan into the FIRE. By the way had a chat on Sunday with 2 liverpool fans. They feel for Wolves and are glad that Morgan failed in his attempt to get the REDS

20 Feb 2012 15:34:01
My man at the coal face Rekons Souness has impressed.
Morgan also gets on with him.
Now It's keane's turn
Like I said. Bruce is drifting.

20 Feb 2012 14:48:40
From a very reliable source I have been informed that avram grant will have an interview this evening

U r takeing the p now

Moxey is doing a pie stock take tonight

No! Please god no!!

Dark Horse - Jim Jefferries, ex Hearts. You heard it here first!

Morgan and moxey are turning our club into a circus

20 Feb 2012 14:41:02
Lee Clark now odds on with all major bookies. No Premier League experience, but a good choice for the long term.

Yeah a lot of money has gone on Clark today.

Moxey's gone from saying we need someone with experience to someone who's going to give us enthusiasm so I reckon Clark's definitely in the frame.

20 Feb 2012 14:14:53
Lee Clarkes odds have shortened dramatically today he is odds on with one company .... any takers ??

Yes please and bring jordan rose with him, got to be better than a short term fix

See the post at 13.00 today. Bookies seem to know something. But then we've seen it already with Bruce and Curbs.

20 Feb 2012 13:35:13
Haven't got a clue what it might mean but I've just seen Uwe Rosler on the Compton Road Twice around 1pm...driving around as if looking for the training ground?
Isn't he Brentfords manager...what use would he be to us unless he formed a partnership with OGS

Ha, heard it all now. What link does Rosler have with Solskjaer?. This has made my day. Also, aren't Brentford playing tonight at home to Carlisle, he would be preparing his team and if he wasn't it would have been on SSN

Hes just been on sky tv...thats where he was seen...

OGS took over from Rosler at Molde FK but don't know of any other link other than the 2 years at Manchester clubs at the same time so socially maybe....but that wasn't the point he could be mates with Clark or any other for that matter...as for doubting it was him the private reg on the black bentley gave a big clue...but having looked him up it was him driving too

The above is B-O Locks.

B-O Locks the to prats who shoot down people who only say what they see...if you have better info then post it or just shut your face.
I am just a fan who happened to be in the area and reported what I saw in good faith...shan't bother again!

Its not a case of shooting you down, its just, well, you should have gone to specsavers

Funny enough was there last thursday...eyesight is perfect...I know I was on holiday some time ago in Spain and a tesco carrier bag came round the corner complete with his own bog roll he called a shirt...Frank Skinner and Adrian slim Jim are another 2 good reasons to detest tescos...but as Wolves fans we should stick together and having suffered the humiliation from them we should not take out our frustrations on each other...the way the manager process is going nobody would be surprised to see David Icke up for interview

20 Feb 2012 13:27:26
The two M's are looking for an aggresive approach to save the season.
They are aware it's not the long term solution, but with the choice of manager limited this is the appoach they have decided to take.
Keane and Souness will make their claim shortly.
Steve Bruce will drift..Watch the betting.
My source is pretty close to the coal face.

I've heard this too.
Lee Clark is also of interest. He is deemed to have the required aggresion, but also is being considered for the longer term. Concerns about his experience, but is being strongly considered.

20 Feb 2012 13:00:19
Two words. Lee Clark. heard it hear first.

If the Huddersfield fans were glad to be rid of him because he wasn't taking them forward then how is he going to take us forward

The fans weren't glad, they were outraged. He managed the club record 43 game unbeaten run and they're still in the play-offs.

I dont care.. im an everton fan who has been told by a bookie he is ur next boss.

The Huddersfield fans were having delusions of grandeur, losing 3 or 4 games out of 55 and wanting rid of the manager, yeh he spent a few quid, but with teams like the Sheffield clubs and Charlton still in there who also spend money, doing what he did was no mean feet.

Odds have certainly shortened on him - now around evens.

At least with Lee Clark he should bring in his own backroom staff

Terry McDermott was Steve Clarks assistant at Huddersfield, and a good one at that, so might be some truth in this rumour if you take into account the Liverpool link.

I hope it is him n conner carnt be sacked he accually has a contact for life he can only leave if he wants to

20 Feb 2012 12:55:47
Roy keane to be wolves next manager till the end of the season

Roy Keane, You must be joking ? The character of the man leaves a lot to be desired - do we really have to scrape the barrell and thereby throw more salt onto the wounds of Mc Arthy. Keane is the PITS

Yes he was a joke at itpwich

Keane is my choice and what the team needs at the moment i.e a big fat kick up the backside

20 Feb 2012 12:42:53
So the Rafa Benitez rumour floating around xmas/new year was just hot air?

20 Feb 2012 12:40:51
Curbs on BBC saying he's pulled out of running for manager citing a "different vision".

We have become a joke. We are not gonna get a manager better than mick and Morgan knows this and knows he messed up.

Yes he told them pay peanuts you get monkeys

Keano now second favourite. What do some people know? Anyway I agree Mick would have been better.

20 Feb 2012 11:48:13
Seen it all now, Graham Taylor now into 14/1. Do people just have money to throw away

Them two are makeing us a bloody joke

20 Feb 2012 10:10:51
From what I can gather from a very spare situation....
There is some snagging point with curbishley, I have no idea what but its just the information I can get my hands on.
Bruce is no in the frame to take over but again this very much depends on terms.
Lee Clarke is also to be interviewed today.
Wolvesinsider

Yeah cause conner carnt be sacked he's got a lifetime contract

Makes me wonder insider just what type of contract is being offered here, short term or longer.

Conner will go when a new manager comes.
I can't really grasp the length of content being offered I would hope long term but who knows..... My sources can't get that info tbh
Wolvesinsider

20 Feb 2012 07:59:06
Steve Morgan has widened the manager search. He has told Jez Moxey to see if there are any suitable candidates across Europe. Bobo Balde is one name mentioned, though I doubt we will hear any news concerning this rumour.

Bobo Balde for manager? Heard it all now.

Is morgan takeing some thing takeing the p now who the hell is bobo balde who next lord lucan

Bobo Balde - large error-prone defender played for Celtic till he was dropped. Wolves took a look at him I think 3 years ago but didn't impress and defo not management material. I think our contributor is having a laugh.

Would be a smart move to bring in a footballing legend like Bobo. As for Lord Lucan, he was last seen hiding in Jeff Moxleys library. In the diet book section.
