The league table does not look good and some posters believe we will not survive this season.
So what happens if we get relegated?
None of the top half premier league teams will want to take Lopetegui if he doesn't keep us up and the rest will be in a relegation scrap next season as will the teams promoted from the championship.
The owners wanted him when they first arrived and we were not in the premier.
I think he will stay and build the team and club as Fosun intended.
With parachute money and money from the players who don't want to play for us in the championship Lopetegui should be able to start his rebuild if the worst does happen.

I worry, if the worst does happen and we do go down are fosun really going to give Julie a war chest to recruit in January potentially knowing values will take a massive hit if we go down, plus will Julian stick around for wet Tuesday nights in championship, I hope we manage to turn it all around and get ourselves clear but.

E, those are very very valid points. He was aware of our position and results, yet he still came back to us to say he’d like to take control. I’m a glass half full, I genuinely do believe he can keep us up. Maybe only by a point or two, but I think he will, then as you say,rebuild the squad into his own,

I hope you are right, Womburn, but I suspect much would depend on Fosun’s (opaque)financial position .In any event, I really doubt that Julen would agree to coach in the Championship so would go back to Europe. We would end up with someone like Rob Edwards.

Steve is right, our new coach can see where we are and has come anyway. He didn't need the job and won't want a relegation on his CV.

There are no guarantees even if new players come in January. I hope we stay up just as every fan does, but if the worst happens it won't be easy to come straight back up. You only have to look at the money Stoke have to see that. Not many teams have bounced back instantly in recent years so it would take a massive effort from all at the club. Hopefully that effort starts now to find 30 points from the remaining games. A tall order but it can be done.

Last time we were in the championship we achieved 99 points and won the league by 9 points.
If we do get relegated we will be get promoted again.
Stoke don’t have Lopetegui.
