So the useless, apology for a footballer (according to his detractors) Silva has now scored more goals in 6 matches for Anderlecht than in 2 years at Wolves. I know it's an 'easier' league than the Prem but it also seems to reinforce my point that Wolves goal scoring woes run deeper than just the striker. Will any striker we bring in eventually suffer from the same drought?

I'm inclined to agree with you LM, with the skills our forward line have it is remarkable that none of them seems to be able to hit the back of the net. For all the pretty and complicated build up it so often comes to nothing, sometimes a long ball into the box can cause mayhem, rather than trying to walk the ball into the net. Having an out and out striker won't necessarily solve the problem if we dawdle getting the ball into the danger area and defenders have time to take up good positions.

1 goal every 67 minutes for Anderlecht. Couple of assists and had his hand in a few other goals too. Hopefully he can bang in 25-30 goals and come back to us full of confidence. I think it does run deeper than just the striker though. We need more 1-2 touch football in the final third and take more risks without being worried about losing the ball all the time.

Decision making in the final third is a problem and has been for some time. Always seem to want to score the perfect goal. Add to that a lack of numbers in the box when on the front foot means there is rarely a follow up on a second ball from an attack which is where lots of goals can come from.

Silva is a little older and a little stronger now. A year in Belgium should do him good. If his numbers are high enough at the end of the season it would be the kind of signing we'd be crying out to make - young player with good numbers abroad.

We do need a goal poacher though for this season. Basically anyone who can play centrally and score more than 6 league goals.
