With the new fixtures comes a new table, as usual we start bottom (not fair) good news is we’re only seven places behind City and eight behind Liverpool. ?

If Fulham manage to get Palhinha ahead of us, I'm afraid there's something very wrong with our way of conducting transfers.

Think Palhinha is a red herring as no one knows who is arriving before they sign for us but we are permanently linked to this guy.

If we were genuinely after Palhinha I can see no reason why we shouldn't have bought him by now. I can't see finance as being a problem.
Last September after we didn't take Sanches on loan to buy or buy Botman Jeff Shi said the money was there for the deal! So 25 to 30 million was available last year. Since then we have spent 3 million. If you take that figure plus this year's budget and assume it is similar we have around 50 million available plus fees for fringe players rumoured to be leaving. So you could guess at maybe another 25 minimum for them. So I'd guess we have around 75 million that should be available and that doesn't include the possible sale of Neves!
So all in all maybe Jeff is as busy as he should be and surely should be able to get some deals done quickly! Unless of course he's waiting for bargains at the end of the window again then I don't hold out much hope! Get on with it Jeff don't let us down this year please!

Do we ever get anyone we're supposedly after?

I see we have 2 players in the list of top 100 for the golden boy award. I know some people won’t think it means anything when they see it’s silva and hoover but personally I think it’s good even the publicity is helpful. Looking forward to the new season, even with the lack of signings so far.

How can the transfers be so difficult to finalize when we're supposed to have Mended assisting?

Well said Golden boy. I really hope they have something up their sleeve. I also thought Southgate would have against Hungary too. I'm starting to feel abit anxious. We could, with the right investment, be top 6 by October with those fixtures.

Was told we had 3 top class players within our grasp days ago.
Can now tell you all 3 are in advanced talks with other clubs.
We cannot afford fee/ wages in any deal.

Maybe the cynic in me but don’t rule out a deadline sale deal for Ruben to Barca

Things are looking like going seriously bottoms up. Our belief in fosun keeping things close to their chests is beginning to look as if it's a myth. It's time for them to show some real commitment and wrestle palinha and nunes into the pack away from competitors. Finances must be made available in whatever way ahead of neves departure to secure our future. Either that or make some statement of assurances that other options will be forthcoming. Its a crucial time for Wolverhampton wanderers and its fans, sitting tight lipped isn't of comfort. I hope I'm wrong and proven so but I just can't bear to see us let down again. There is no excuses if we end up taking players in desperation at the 11th hour. Come jeff/Scott, whoever let us in on the intrigue or panic.

Good post Abbeywolf
The vibes I’m getting are we are in for probably the worst transfer window of them all
We literally haven’t got a penny to spend unless we sell first, urgently trying to ship out expendable players to raise funds.
Mendes will play the game over Neves lining his own pocket first and foremost.
Expect some commotion from within this week, lot of unsettled individuals
Shi has a job to do, he’s not a football man and is not here to win a popularity contest, think he knows he’s in for a rough ride but he’s thick skinned and as I say Fosun pay him a lot of money to produce a profitable business.

Your right of course realist, neves will definitely be taken, so there is money in him, we know that so surely some sort of 'bridging' loan could be taken against him to secure our season but its sad that our great club, owned by such a wealth as Fosun, is ultimately hinging on the value of the sale of players and not investment of such for the future. Its been unbelievable for them to have taken us this far but also unbelievable that they won't stake their financial acumen on our progression. Worrying times for us fans.

The best player on the books is Neves, so they sell him to raise money to buy a couple of inferior players. Daft I call it!

Neves wants to move on to realise his dreams Ray, we've got to recognise that and, of course, his value can depreciate.

I know you are right Abbeywolf, but Neves is too drawer and Fosun say they want Wolves to be a top 4 team. So to me the team needs the likes of Ruben.

{Ed002's Note - Drawer?}
