Any thoughts on where we go with Fabio Silva?
Bruno Lage’s team have a brilliant reputation developing promising young players. Is he getting the benefit of this and will he grab his chance in the FA Cup to now show he’s worth a punt in the Premier League?
Should he get a chance on loan in the Championship or even a shot on loan in Europe (maybe in Portugal) or are we taking a risk further devaluing an expensive asset?
Should we look to cash in at maybe £20 million plus a significant sell on clause (like the RAN deal)?
My own feelings are that there is a player there and if anyone can develop that it’s Lage.
He’s a predator and gets into the right positions but is he sharp enough and strong enough to make his mark? What do you think?

£20 mil for Fabio? Take it and reinvest!

I've commented on other threads but after Wednesday he's clearly got attitude hence straight down the tunnel at full time, clearly not a happy bunny! I'd start him in the cup and say go on show us why you should be playing. It would give him the opportunity. Plus wed know what he's learned training with Bruno. I think it would be interesting up against some tough defenders where he will be challenged. Let's see what he's got!

The problem, as I see it, is so many of these 'talented' young European players like Silva look good in the tippy tappy leagues but don't shine in England because they are not used to the power and pace of the game here. Apparently, Vintinha is pulling up trees for Porto this season after benefiting from his experience with Wolves and if he goes back I would suggest Trincao will be the same.
Maybe there's a case for focusing on young British players like Gibbs White or Cundle and limit this love affair with Portugese 'one's for the future'.

Stick to the original plan for him.
It was aware that when we signed him he was one of the biggest young talents in Europe hence his fee.

I think that's best to protect our investment in him.

He has c.v. so out for Chelsea.

Personally, I can't see how we'd get any where near that sort of money for him. Wishful thinking.

Hi Belfast I been meaning to mention to you last season or some time ago I was struggling to get the wolves live on my smartphone.
You I remember was one who gave me the sites and explained how to get watch the wolves but I could never get it to work but months back I get it everytime on hesgoal.
I'm grateful you posted the info so cheers and thankyou.

Thefutureisoldgold you mentioned your girls were hogging you tele so you couldn't watch the match the other night.
I assume there is a smartphone in your house so you can watch wolves live without waiting till next day if you so choose to do so.

Phil - tks for thinking aobut me. I'm much better at 12th century history that I am at technology so if you couldn't get something to work I reckon I would have asolutely no chance!
ps sat up and watched a big chunk of the Ashes cricket last night - it is all my fault. We were well in control and looking quiTe comfortable when I went to bed but collapsed as soon as I stopped supporting them.
Not looking good and hard to see how unless it rains a lot we won't get whitewashed. Strange how we are so good at limited over tuff but so bad at Test cricket particularly the batting!

Phil - that is very profound and of course true!
Sadly whilst I have absolutely no interest in technology, (and formula 1 doesn't do a lot for me either), I love my cricket.
What was/is your summer sport then?

Haven't really got a summer sport rugby last time I liked it was Will carling.
Surprising other than my dad and friends dad's not many I have known from wolverhampton who are into the cricket but working in Birmingham quite a few work colleagues past and present are real into it.
Edgebaston I think is a top cricket ground.
I like tennis Wimbledon but not so much the last year's or so not a fan of Andy Murray but cheered when he won Wimbledon hypocrisy I know lol.

Football has always been my passion since I could remember.

TFIG I love my cricket and it is frustrating to see the inept selections and tactics. We have played more Test cricket than any country throughout covid and the Aussies hadn't played for virtually a year but are miles ahead of us.

The batting is fragile, the fielding is atrocious and the tactics are poor. But yet I still get up to watch in the middle of the night.

We haven't had a decent openning pair since Strauss and Cook and in reality now we only have Root who is a test quality top order bat. But I don't thnk you can really blame the selectors as there are not any obvious options in the county game to be brought in. Who would you be picking?
We have got away with this over the last few years due to the v strong batting from the middle order Stokes, Butler, Moen and Woakes etc and the strong bowling particularly from Anderson, Broad, Woakes etc.
Can't see this changing in the short term as the new stars of the county game are all strong limited overs players rather than "Test" style cricketers not surprisingly though as all the money is in the shorter form of the game.

That's the problem, the focus is on the shorter format of the game and county players, particularly batsmen, have no idea how to play the longer form of the game. Very few batsmen have the temperament to construct a proper innings. Plus the emphasis on picking a wicketkeeper on batting ability rather than keeping ability is costly and has certainly cost us in this test.

I'd definitely have Denly in the squad to cover all positions in the top 4, as he has experience and the right temperament and Foakes should have been the first choice keeper for the last 3 years. Because of the lack of quality spinners, I'd have taken Liam Dawson as a spinning all-rounder.
