In respect of the Hungarian penalty tonight since when has dangerous play been a direct free kick or penalty?
As both players were attempting to reach the ball it could certainly not be deemed a reckless tackle etc which would have been a direct free kick or penalty.
Perhaps after refereeing for 25 plus years I am finally loosing it?

ExRef it looked more like an assault on Shaw's foot by the Hungarian and the performance when he landed was worthy of a BAFTA. I sometimes wonder what some of these refs take before a game to produce some decisions!

ExRef, out of interest what was your take on one of England's corners earlier in the game?

It looked to me like John Stones was pulled down and the referee had a word with the Hungarian player and England had to retake the corner. Surely if the Hungarian player was spoken to and the ball had been played it was a foul?

I thought Luke Shaw's "foul" was a fair 50/ 50 challenge and the player moved his head towards Shaw's foot so it wasn't a foul, just a coming together.

That ref was well suspect last night tbh.
