Great win against 12 men, ref was clearly playing for Newcastle.
I for one am sick and tired of these poor officials.

We seem to be getting an unfair amount of decisions going away from us, but the Sa business would have been decided for us if he'd just stayed down, that said credit to Sa for not giving up on us. Perhaps we're too honest or naive for our own good but there were a couple of obvious fouls towards the end not given and his general observations weren't very accurate from what I heard.

I still can't get that offside descision in our own half how can we be offside there lol.
As for the cheats I mean Newcastles goal Neves was more at fault if he wasn't faffing around and just cleared it they wouldn't have scored.
But anyway it's our second win in a row we're now 11th things looking a lot brighter than they was 3 weeks ago.

Might be wrong rated but in rough translation if the player is coming back from an offside position the new rule states that the kick is from where the player is when whistle blows, ie. Raul was off in their half but was back in our half when ref blew this assisting the defending team. Dunno if this is right or a load of baloney. Ed your well read on these matters, can you help?

I'm probably going to get slated for this but I've watched the Newcastle goal a few times now and I don't think it's a foul on Sa, both players are entitled to go for the ball and both touch it but then crash into each other.
If that was the other end and Raul went for the ball we'd all be up in arms if a free kick was given. Not that I think the ref was very good or that we haven't had more than our fair share of bad decisions against us - just this time I think the ref was right.

Wolfflea71 whilst don't disagree with the'clash' the ref carries a duty of care towards players, equally players to themselves. Just before the Sa incident Hwang stopped and put the ball out for a Newcastle players treatment. Given that the ref and Newcastle players didn't know the extent of Sa (possible head/ neck) injury I feel the ref should have stopped play. I understand Newcastle playing on being one down and it being a ref decision. Fortunately Sa wasn't serious, but what would have happened had he simply stayed down? It's an area for VAR they didn't see a foul the ref, in view of head injuries concussion subs etc should have halted the game. Harsh in those situations perhaps but player safety has to be paramount.

2 things we learnt Saturday,

If in similar circumstance Sa stay down.

Put your odds on goal scoring chance away (Trincio hitting the bar) as its possible like Saturday a minute or so after you can concede.

These 2 things and others if and when they happen will be addressed and the team will learn from it imo.
