Posted before I had finished.
As I was saying, Saiss, Semedo, Dendoncker, Jose, Ait Nouri, MGW, Vithana are not up to the task, I'm still not sure Silva will get to where he needs to be, Coady can't play in a back four and being as we are stuck between two systems at the moment looks out of his league.
If Nuno is staying, and I'm not convinced that he is, we need a major overhaul of the squad or he's going to be facing a relegation fight for us next year.

Hi Bigcheese68, Spot on with those players plus Traorie not being good enough, but I honestly can't see it happening, lot depends on whether Fosun are prepared to do it.

The short term fix would be sell what we can, and get two quality midfielders, a good striker, a big centre back.

The team, and coaching staff needs a drastic overhaul, but its asking an awful lot, the mistakes were made last transfer window and difficult to put right.
Just have to remain hopeful.

I find it difficult to agree with this view, most of the players mentioned have a proven quality or need time to fulfill their potential.
What does seem obvious to me is that the players are not comfortable playing in our current style or philosophy.
Week in and week out we invite the opposition to attack us hoping to get something on the break which we rarely do.
Both Semedo and RAN should be allowed to press forward far more than they are allowed and we surrender the midfield for two wide players instead of more centrally positioned in the box threats
The one player I would release is Traore who is generally woeful at best and doesn’t have a position in the team that’s effective consistently.

We should forget paying £60 million for Nouri-Vitinha-Jose, sell Traore-Moutinho-White-Vinagre-Bonatini-Cutrone-Campana-Mir and try to buy Abraham-Lingard-Ali-Niles player who are proven premier players if we want to compete at the top. Nuno needs to have a strong matchday squad all of whom are good enough to play and back up by a strong u23s.

Yet when he came on Vinthia was trying to get forward, trying to make moves but got no supply, I think our players have become too comftable.
RAN is improving week in week out too.
Semedo also improving week in week out and on 2 occasions has been MOTM.
The rest I totally agree with you on.

RAN showed promise going forward but he cannot defend. I agree that we need some Prem experience; the young player policy has got us so far, but we need Prem experience to take us to the next level.

We have some good academy players without having to buy more 'for the future, so I'd rather get some noise into the first team and strengthen our squad depth.

What I'm scratching my head with is why boly played left c/ b and Saiss right c/ b. Saiss predominately left footed and got caught out trying to adjust his feet, if saiss had played left c/ b it would be more natural for him and not have to sort his feet out.

All great posts today everyone of them.
FWAW.

{Ed001's Note - I am so glad someone mentioned that as I only saw bits and I wondered if they had just got switched around during the play or deliberately set up that way. I couldn't believe anyone would choose to set up with them on the wrong side, but every time I looked they were there.}
