If the Premier League had started in a different era the "Big six" would as they think they are would look very different. If the big Clubs in the 50's had seen the future Wolves, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Newcastle would have been at the forefront while Liverpool would have missed out and be languishing in the lower leagues, other Clubs who lost out by being in the wrong place at the wrong time include Derby of the 70's / 80's and Ipswich in the 80's. All these Clubs have been top dogs and we're all hope to be again one day, today's elite Clubs know they can't keep their places by playing fair on the field and have resorted to trying to buy their places at the expense of everyone else, these owners don't have a clue and as the fans are about to show them, English football doesn't work like that, that's why it's great and that's why we love it. We'd be left with a better game if these money mad owners gathered up their Millions and sailed off into the sunset on their superyachts.

Superb post Oxley - I would note that Huddersfield dominated football in the 20s whilst Chelsea were nowhere until yesterday ( in relative terms anyway) .
Awful fear is that there will be a compromise whereby they stay with us but are gteed a greater share of television revenues and perhaps other benefits (autoatic qualification for Europe or larger squads or more sus etc etc) so that it is made even harder for "outsiders" to compete. Maybe Arsenal could ask for a goal a game start on the upstarts like Wolves - that way they may have a chance!

Excellent posts guys. The level of arrogance is unbelievable. Can't actually put what I really think of them on here but I'm sure you can guess!

Just to get on board with these great posts from you all, how do Spurs always get to be regarded as an elite club? They never win anything, we usually play them off the park! Only twice been Champions of England (Wolves= 3 times) and last time was 1961! Let 'em all go. FWAW.

True Prestonwolf, what exactly qualifies Spurs as a big club. Since the last of their 2 titles wins in 1961, Leeds, Derby, Villa, Everton, Blackburn, Nottingham Forest and Leicester have all won the title. Villa and Forest have won the European Cup. So the richest, not the most successful clubs are being classed as the biggest clubs and the big 6 have the cheek to suggest that this not about money.

I say good riddance to them all. I see the balance of power once more returning to the Midlands. The new order will mean a top 6 consisting of Wolves, Villa and Leicester.
Stick together and stay positive 👍.

Taff - tks. My wife is good friends with a lady who comes from St Davids and so C.V. permitting it seems our hols this summer are going to be restricted to a visit to West Wales and a week or so in South Wales. What apart from Cardiff and St Davids are the "must dos"

Phil - v sorry not to have let you know earlier. Didn't get the job in Bristol and the one in Zurich is "cheques in the post" being put back weeks after week so that I have lost interest really. Fortunately Zambia with my son looks unlikely thanks to the C.V. so don't actually "need" the money!
Hope all ok with you and your brother.
Maybe next season I will get involved in the footie chat again but for now will keep my posts limited to non controversial things like the ESL!

Thefutureisoldgold- Well there’s lots to see and do mainly in West Wales where the coast line is littered with beautiful bays. Swansea is really nice, from the Mumbles right around the coast Caswell bay is my favourite I was there last week and will be going tomorrow. Also Rhossili bay is worth a visit the views there are amazing and there’s a nice pub overlooking the beach that does good meals. On your way to St David’s you must visit the harbour town of Tenby it has a lot of history lovely cafe’s and family friendly pubs and restaurants and the beach and views are spectacular. South Wales doesn’t have as much to offer, Cardiff is a lovely City and the Brecon Beacons are not to far away. Hopefully the C.V. restrictions would have eased by the time you travel. I can go into more detail closer to the time you travel if you wish.

Taff - tks.
What about the "big pit" is that worth a visit. We love history including heritage stuff. A few years ago we went down a drift mine in Durham and it was an experience I will never forget despite being highly sanitised versus the real thing - we stopped when we could still just about stand up whilst I gather the face required you to crawl on your belly!
Have friends who raved about Tenby as well so good call - tks.
will def get back in touch when/ if we firm up a date.

Future- I didn’t realise you were interested in mining, the Big Pit in Blaenavon is definitely worth a visit and is free entry. Also Cyfarttha Castle is only a mile from my house and has a good museum of the iron master Crawshay who lived there and I’ll gladly show you.
