If (that great player again) only we had signed Jose at the start of Jan rather than allowing the first 3 games (1 point out 9 including 2 home defeats to WBA and Toffees plus a disappointing draw against Brighton) to slip away from us whilst we got a transfer, we had known had to made since Jimenez's injury, across the line, we could have been several points closer to 6th!

I've played and managed decent amateur teams and trust me. you can't pass to someone that doesn't make themselves available. Bully. Richards. raul and many more were constantly finding space. ony once in 80 mins did he find space and yes netto should have passed but not good enough imo. as a striker you have to be constantly aware and anticipate situations. Bully was the master of it.

Lexluna. I didn't say he was great. Who else was available and would have took on a short term challenge before playing second fiddle to Raul next year? He's doing a job better than Silva (it's to soon for him) . He's not perfect far from it but I would argue that we are better with him than without at this time.

Willian Jose scored 52 goals in 143 games for Real Socieadad an average of 1 in 2.75. JR scored 144 in 385 for Wolves an average of 1 in 2.67.Bully was prolific in the lower leagues with 1 in 1.89 and for England he scored in 1 in every 3.25.
Before Jose signed we were talking about relegation and now we are talking about qualifying for Europe.
Jose brings more than goals and would be a good back up but maybe not at over £20 million. More like £8-£10 million.

So what could we do if he moved a bit more. He's a striker and should play like one cus if he does he scores and assists. His vast experience of being a striker isn't showing for me . Only once has he looked like scoring so far and that was the pen against arsenal. I might be wrong but I can't even remember him getting his head on anything in the box yet. Hope I'm wrong but as yet I've seen nothing to suggest he could remotely replace raul for any length of time or play with him . Striker's job is to score and or assist and he's doing neither. as I've said its only my opinion and I want the best for my club at all times.

Lexluna. I don't disagree with you at all. From what I saw in Jan the only other available option was Josh King but he wanted big money. Hopefully he got that at Everyone but not exactly a success. We all want the best but reality is often very different. He's ok but we wanted better we all did. Mind you if they passed to him he might score!

E, Ken and Lex all interesting points. He is not perfect - my rating post agrees with you Lex re his movement and effort but it also agree with you Ken re the pass that he should have got.
Net net though we are dong far better with him in the team than we were with Silva so for what ever reason it has to be a positive.
If Jose improves by what ever means so much the better but now we are looking up and I can't wait for Newcastle!

Watched vardy today. not his best game but his movement drags c halves all over the place and he creates space for himself and team mate's. He came on against us and he nearly scored cus he wanted it that badly. that's all I ask for. he peeled off against arsenal and completely lost his marker and he was about to score until fouled but he's stopped doing it. I'm not castigated the guy but he has to do better.

Thefutureisoldgold and Lexluna couldn't agree more, we all want the same thing. From my point of view he ain't perfect far from it but he's better than Silva for now. When he gets the ball he does spread the ball pretty well. Doesn't give it away all the time which it what was happening with Silva.
Now I wonder if Kenny Gibbet would be free because a midfielder who could drive forward and hit one would be most welcome!

Re Jose, I still maintain he's got to find out how to perform in the prem, its faster and closer than he's accustomed to, and from I've seen he's more of a pouncer than a positionist. He has had one head (under pressure) in the box which went up and wide. He provides much more in presence than fabio and that in itself as been useful. I think once he finds a more traditional CF style in training the goals will come. What worries me is that he does look like billy no mates as someone says. Maybe the other lads havnt taken to him or he's not initiated into the pack yet with isolation. But he's on loan so nothing to lose.

Agree Abbey as the thread says we all want the same thing. Maybe he will get the hang of it soon, we can but hope! Watched Huesca earlier Mir looks the part and puts it about a bit but we've been there. At least he can get headers and he's mobile. Probably just not suited to our leagues he's had his chance.
