Thought your boys played well yesterday. You have some real talent in that team. I've read through a lot of the posts and reactions from yesterday and it's pretty good stuff.

But what I would say is you need to get to 40 points as soon as you can and not look any further until you have. This league will be brutal and every team will have you sussed by the time they get to play you again. I'm not saying you will struggle but it will be harder to watch than last season (which by the way I did and thought you were incredibly entertaining)

Don't be harsh on your players if they aren't performing like they did last season. They are playing against the very best there is and it will seem like they aren't trying. Believe me they will be but just won't have the time or room or even the pace to show it like they did in the championship.

Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season and please please please save your best for any team playing in red.

Enjoyed the game Toffee. My nephew lives up there and is one of yours. Tried to make him see sense but to no avail!
Draw was fair IMO. What price for Neves? (not that he is going anywhere) .

Your nephew is one truly discerning fan. I remember us trying to buy Moutinho when he was around 21. Tried 3 times but couldn’t get it over the line. Neves is ridiculous for his age. If he does it in the prem this season, and the signs are already there, then I would say you have an asset that only about 5 teams in world football could afford.

He will be hard to keep, every club is a selling club. But until that time comes, just enjoy having the player and who knows, he might do a Terry and give you his best years.

Have a good season lads, enjoy Goodison when you come, the crowd will welcome you with open arms (well sort of 😂)

Cheers Toffee ace, top post and a pretty astute assessment of things. Good luck to you for the rest of the season, I always liked Everton its a proper family club ;) COYW.

What kind of comment is that? You have to reach 40 points before you reach 50?

It’s a fact isn’t it? 10 20 30 40 50 yep in my reckoning 40 still comes before 50.

Thanks Toffee Ace. Very fair.
How much could Neves be worth one day?
Quite a few years ago we had a young player who looked promising. Someone may or may not have said he would be worth £100m one day. Anyway, the statement stuck. I don't know where that player is now but I do know we have another young player in Neves who will be worth £100m one day!

I would disagree with some things said.

A) we made more mistakes than Everton made chances. The only joy was Richarlson and his diving and play-acting.

B) our creative players were experiencing very clever niggling fouls - at one point Jota was taken down and the free kick went Everton's way. Nuno needs to learn a lot of teams in this league lack the pace Wolves have and they will use dirty tactics.

C) our players weren't 100%. The league being harder doesn't mean passes go astray or creativity dries up. We were passing square balls and go back for the first time in a long time.

D) the team is a lot younger and many are new to the Prem and it was a nervous game. We will grow in confidence.

E) Neves has signed and so have many others. We got told Neves wouldn't stay and then we signed João and Rui. Not every club is a selling club. That is something said by certain fans yet Real, Barca, etc aren't. We aren't. Fosun have ambition. And have brains.

F) we know Everton had a bad season last term but Wolves were playing at 50% and we still got a draw against a team that is top half.

For me, we will be looking to win in Liverpool.

Everton played well, Wolves weren't at their best. I wouldn't worry though. We just need to learn to overcome teams that want to stop our attackers from running. And our defence needs to learn that Prem players will "simulate" fouls.

I was worried until the game ended. I thought we would struggle for goals. But to score twice in such circumstances was amazing. I now think 40 points will be easy. And I think we can get top half.

Remember Everton, we will only get better and grow in confidence. We won't show the same fear next time. And mark my words, that is what it was. We backed off.

On a separate note, why are our fans on EandS being so nasty about Rui? The guy had great distribution! Did anyone see the so called "modern keeper" for the Toffees?

Zeli Ismail. One of the youth coaches is supposed to have said it when he's was 15/ 16? At Walsall now i believe.

Flawed- can you not just show a bit of humility fella?! The Everton fans have come on and generally been complementary, haven't patronised (like many do) and your response is basically 'yeah well we are only going to get better'! Which is nonsensical because EVERY team in the league will most likely improve as that's the nature of development. Also your A-Z missed one rather glaring point and that is that Everton (like most teams in the league) will improve a whole lot as well! Especially considering they had none of there deadline day super stars playing in actual fact it probably wasn't a bad time to play them! But to say 'Everton played well, Wolves weren't at the best' is frankly just childish cause if that's the case it only our own fault! You speak as if all clubs haven't had the same opportunity to prepare, like we've had to rush things which is just nonsense! And yes the league being harder DOES mean passes go a stray because suddenly people have half the time to make the passes! Boly was a classic example, worst game I've seen him have in a Wolves shirt but that's simply because he was playing at a Champ pace! He will adjust but like all of um it will take time/ games.
I agree with some of what you said, especially the part about learning how to play the Prem Refs and how there were MANY positives. Just wonder if we couldn't be a little more fair in the assessment of both teams performances, rather than making out that Everton were lucky to get anything (which wasn't the case for the game I saw)?
Also hadn't seen the stick Rui got but frankly those persons need to sort themselves out cause he made two TOP saves and generally looked class! COYW ;)

Bullysboy, you have a really good understanding of the premier league and your expectations are very much in perspective.

FlawedPrefection, I get some of what you say but you don’t know the premier league like some of your fellow posters do.

The niggling fouls have nothing to do with the pace of your team, you’re in the top league now, that’s why you get them. And the sooner your team starts to do it the better for you.

This league will stifle your creativity and passing and you will need to find a work around. If you think you can just up your game to suit then your mistaken. The establishment are already a few steps ahead of you. If you think of giving 50% more then so will Everton or any of the other teams that have been in the league since it was formed.

To think you’re not a selling club is just naive. Barcelona and Real Madrid have lost players they wanted to keep. But even if you’re right about those teams, do you honestly think Wolves are at that level. Of course not. Accept you have to sell and concentrate on getting top dollar. Stones Lukaku Rooney. They all leave, not much can be done.

After reading your post and genuinely we’re all entitled to an opinion, I think you’ll be frustrated with this league as it won’t be the cake walk you have in mind.

Focus on consolidating your premier league status then once your safe (and I never mentioned 50 points like some posters suggested) at 40 points, even if it’s a soon as Christmas you will have an absolute ball the rest of the season. And then fair play to you.

I will be watching your games because as I said in previous posts, you play some cracking stuff and this league is a better league with Wolves in it. Long may it continue.

Spot on toffee ace why all fans can't be like this is beyond me long may it continue imo we were lucky in the end to get the point not sure why so many pundits didn't think it wos a red beyond me it could of broke his leg so for me a straight red what do you think?

14.) 15 Aug 2018
15 Aug 2018 17:55:05
Correct. Straight red. Though the ref probably did it based on the the fact that Jags lost the ball then lunges in last man to get it. The move looked desperate and I’d be surprised if the ref saw how bad it actually was in real time.

Having said that. It was right to send him off, he’s 35 almost, for crying out loud and experienced enough to do better. He let the side down.

Too early in the game though to ascertain whether it cost Everton the win as there’s a lot of football to be played still with all the second half ahead.
