Looks like we’re on the verge of losing Neves to a bigger Club where he’ll fit straight in and show everyone what we already know, no doubt when he’s playing with better quality players and turns out to be the best passer of a football in the Premiership, the powers that be and a lot of fans will be left wondering why he couldn’t reach his potential at Molineux, the answer should and will be blindingly obvious.

In my opinion because the previous manager 'mis-used' him for the past 18 or so months. The talent is so obvious with Neves and we should be building a side around him and making him Captain.

Totally agree with that, he could be world class, seems like he has been held back last two seasons under nuno.

World Class? Come off it, Tibsy. That would mean he'd be selected in midfield for a world team at the World Cup. He has considerable potential yes, but not that much. He's too slow for starters and his shooting boots have gone missing. The World Class banner gets banded about too much and, to my mind, the only Premier league midfielder who fits the bill is De Bruyne.

If Neves goes he goes but it must be for the right price and that money must be invested back into the squad.
Considering we beat that so called bigger club with better quality players twice last season I beg to differ on quality part.

Old wulf “could be” I said, has the potential.

If Neves is world-class, he's just had a pretty average season for club and country in 2020/ 21. I don't really buy the theory that he needs the best players to play with. Quite the opposite in fact, he should stand out when playing with 'inferior' players surely? His best season for us, arguably, was in the championship, playing with and against 'inferior' players. This is where his reputation was made.

Id say keep but sign some players to support him in midfield.
Palhinha, Gedson Fernandes come on Jeff pull your socks up let's win those first 3 games.
Com'on me babbies. 😂😂😂.

Its a shame he hasn't scored the goals we had hoped for but is still a very talented player, but as others say lacks pace. Maybe the previous manager used Ruben in the role he was best suited.

He couldn't get on the field in either role in the Euros when Fernandes and other players were withdrawn, our 30+ playmaker Moutinho was used, so that's club and country thet rate Moutinho as a better bet in that role.

Signing Moutinho was Neves issue. He ran midfield in Championship, but Moutinho took over most free kicks. Neves only had a couple of shooting opportunities each game. Used too deep in premiership and Nuno shackled him. He is a World class passer of the ball, but agree he has other areas that need improving, but like I said above held up by Nuno and Moutinhi. If he stays I expect better performances under Bruno.

I don't see Neves as anything like World Class. He has not performed in the last 2 seasons anything like de Bruyne or David Silva, both of whom would rank as great mfs. He shone in the Championship, had great moments in our first season in the Prem, but sadly has not fulfilled promise shown. If he was World Class he would have dominated play. I see him now as a useful squad player, but not the answer to our midfield needs.

Interesting though that whilst Neves and Dendonker are training with Wolves in Marbella that neither have been part of the OR photo shoots. Certainly something is going on . Interesting times let’s hope Fosun and Lage get it right before the 14th August.

Dendoncker isn't there according to E&S. He's back on Saturday after being given extended leave.

Funny how Neves is getting a bit of a slating, five seasons ago we couldn't have imagined a player of his magnitude here. I believe he was being played out of position by Nuno.

Debbie, totally agree with you. A few weeks ago when Nuno left, everyone was shocked and stated that Fosun would regret it but now these same fans are slating him saying that he played Neves in the wrong position and he had falling outs with players and he actually wasn't the messiah. Personally, I think Neves was looking tired last season as was most of the squad due to the sheer number of games we played in 2020 and the short break between that and the 20/ 21 season.

15.) 23 Jul 2021
23 Jul 2021 09:54:58
If all the rumours are true, we won't be able to field 11 players at this rate!

16.) 23 Jul 2021
23 Jul 2021 12:44:19
Neves isn't yet world class but describing him as "a useful squad player" is harsh - do you really think Man U and Arsenal would seriously be looking at a useful squad player from Wolves!

No they are looking at someone they think could be world class and will fit into their first teams now.

Wolves also wouldn't price a "useful squad player" at 50mill if they are looking to sell, so either the club rate him as more than a squad player and/ or they don't want to sell.

17.) 23 Jul 2021
23 Jul 2021 15:36:41
OldWulf de Bruyne is certainly a world class midfielder but really the only one in the PL? I think Kante might disagree.

18.) 23 Jul 2021
23 Jul 2021 16:00:35
Fair play, Window, when played in his proper position Kante is although he may actually disagree because I understand he's the least prima donnaish footballer around. Good on him for that. Doesn't he drive a clapped out mini?

19.) 24 Jul 2021
24 Jul 2021 10:22:51
Is De Bruyne world class never won champions league nor international trophy?

World class is a special type of player that can change a teams pergormances from there performances alone. Ronaldo and Messi definitely. I'd put Chiellini and Bonucci in that category won numerous trophies with Juventus and Italy.

Id say De Bruyne, Fernandes, Hazard (in the past) had the potential to be world class. Until you have that game and performances that makes the difference you aren't world class.

20.) 24 Jul 2021
24 Jul 2021 10:25:14
Add to that Wolves players had chances to show they were world class in the Fa cup semi and europa qf. So are they all good enough for the next step up to top 6,top 4,top 2, winner, champions league knock outs, champions league semis and winner?
Jurys out in my opinions. Have they reached a limit? Are we going to support them?

21.) 24 Jul 2021
24 Jul 2021 16:31:00
It's a team game, Madman, and winning non domestic trophies has little relevance to determining whether a player is world class or not. If you don't think De Bruyne is world class then I'm a Dutchman.

22.) 24 Jul 2021
24 Jul 2021 18:12:23
Harry Kane is another top international who has won nothing or near to nothing.

23.) 25 Jul 2021
25 Jul 2021 01:17:51
My point is world class is easily bandied around.

Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi, Maradona, Roberto Carlos, Maldini, Cafu are world class. Careers show that.

Id argue Kante is very close.

De Bruyne, Fernandes, Mbappe, Kane, Sterling are all very capable players but they need the next level in my opinion.

24.) 25 Jul 2021
25 Jul 2021 09:26:04
Agree Madman, but its not easy to judge current players with former players, fitness standards have improved across all sports (not just football) which is a pre-requisite to compete, no matter how good you are.

As a slight after thought I would also add that skills that were rare or innovative 50 years ago now appear far more common. This applies to many sports, a football example being Rivelinos free kick 1970 world cup against Czechoslovakia, TV experts raved about it then but now many players can bend a ball around a defensive wall.
