From Britney Spiers on Twitter - Ruben Vinagre is set to leave Wolves, looks like he's off to Olympiakos.

I'm told Wolves will sign French left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, aged 19, from Angers to replace Vinagre in the squad. Loan deal with an option to buy.

Maybe in lieu of payments we still owe for Daniel Podence, just a thought.

2020 summed up! as stated below 'this is the weirdest transfer window"

I've said it once before this summer. it's the borussia dortmund model we seem to be following of present. Buying the young wonderkids selling them for a premium down the line.

Whether that translates to that level of success I'm not sure.

I wouldn't complain if we become as successful as Dortmund.

Our squad for the Fulham game on Sunday would tell us if there are any major departures! Can't think we would risk a player if he's leaving on Monday! The prime worry would be Jimenez or Traore. It's not that we need the money, we don't. It's more about a player relishing a move to a higher placed club either here or abroad. I think Doherty and Jota were examples of this. Fingers crossed.

I think your spot on there Tom, we are basically using Portugal (and occasionally France) the same way Dortmund are using England! Go hard for the best young talent we think we can get and use the long term financial gains to improve the team. Its a risky model no doubt, but if done well (like Dortmund have) then you end up with quality youngsters opting for your club because they know they will play/ develop. Look at Haaland, he had many of the biggest clubs chasing him and he went with Dortmund cause he knew he could make his name there. Yes he will probs move once he does but I suspect they will make at least £80m+ profit when he does!
Also let's be honest most were saying on here after the last game that Vinagre isn't good enough defensively (something I wouldn't disagree with) so for me it's great business! We switched a player Nuno already feels isn't up to it (long term) for a younger player who he clearly thinks could be! It is a weird window indeed and it will be a tough one for the club to sell positevly cause most of the gains won't be seen this season. For me I think its great! I always liked clubs that trusted and developed young talent, never thought I'd see the day when we would manage to attract such high calibre youngsters! COWY 🐺.

Whats happening with Alex Telles?

Telles is in talks with Penchester United apparantly (Manchester United) .

We still need a midfielder I think.

On a well known betting site, we're now clear favourites to sign Costa, will it happen?

You're right guys, Telles is in talks with Penalty United. As some have noted, this is a weird window for Wolves, a ground-breaker in fact in my view. From ancient history, right up until last season, we signed players to gradually improve the team, and/ or get money in (Moxey selling Afobe comes to mind) . This window is not about improving the team gradually and strategically this season. If it was, we would have only strengthened in certain positions. Now it's all about juggling, trading players, shuffling the pack, making risky investments in young players (at the expense of experience) that might give us mega profits in the future. In footballing terms we've become like a puppy farm. That's fine if we improve our final league placing season after season, but it's giving Nuno huge headaches in assimilating inexperienced youngsters into the first team. These investments can only pay off if the kids are in the first team. Fabio Silva might notch up 25 goals for us this season and we might sell him for £100 mil, but the kids in our defence might be shipping goals at the same time. We're not growing organically like Liverpool (the Jota signing is classic Liverpool strategy, a player already proven in the PL) . What we're doing is like playing the stock market or the casino.

I think the Douglas Costa one is just paper talk.

No chance. need a midfielder not another winger.

Apparently telles transfer to utd on hold as utd want to pay 10mil, not the 25 or the drop to 20,then 15,come on wolves step in quickly.

16.) 02 Oct 2020
02 Oct 2020 21:38:43
Typical arrogant Utd. Depends if he'd come to us doesn't it?

I suppose so ken, don't know who they think they are, is it Woodward or what, makes me think they not fully behind solksjar, there loss if they don't get him.
We should hammer Fulham shouldn't we?

02 Oct 2020 23:16:34
It would be nice if we did. It would paper over some cracks that need to be filled! There big lad up front could cause a bit of trouble but if we can't beat them comfortably then we should be concerned.

03 Oct 2020 09:26:15
Fulham will be no easy game, they had a hateful of chances against villa, Mitrovic missed loads of headers which he normally puts away, they play a lot of high crosses for him to get onto to, so we will need to be at our beat to take points, Prem has no easy games, so we need to be patient.

20.) 03 Oct 2020

Need striker, midfielder box to box, and defender not wing backs all the time how many wing backs have we.

Heard rumour Rayan Ait Nouri had opted for Valencia. If true then Vinagre will not be moved on. Not a reliable source but he had both clubs chasing him and Mendez works closely with both.

03 Oct 2020 19:18:46
Surely you still sell Vinagre - at that price it is a great deal - and if the French boy won't come invest the money elsewhere. Telles (? ) Saka (? ) Alonso (? ) if LWBs needed. But isn't Marcal set to play there and With Otto back in the New year we will be well set there.
Personally I'd take the cash and not buy a new LWB but maybe take a box to box CM - big strong but comfortable on the ball. - LC from Chelsea (although I gather only available on loan) that would buy the time to allow Vitor to be eased into the Moutingho role without too much pressure and Moutinho out without us losing too many points!

23.) 03 Oct 2020
03 Oct 2020 19:50:42
Thefutureisoldgold, I'm with you midfield player in before Monday or a couple of weeks if English. That would make me very happy. As the wife would say I'm easy pleased. LC would be great!

24.) 03 Oct 2020
03 Oct 2020 20:56:04
Read this eve that the French lad is coming and for circa £13m
IF we are selling for north of £20m we could still pay a loan fee and wages for LC from the change?

25.) 03 Oct 2020
03 Oct 2020 21:53:06
That would be great. Let's hope someone like that comes in.

Deep Throat - if it is giving Nuno headaches, why is he doing it? It is him and Mendes who are doing the buying and selling. Jeff is just signing the cheques.

27.) 04 Oct 2020

Timmy - v good q.
The upside is vast - if just one of the kids becomes as good as some on here believe and we therefore sell for £100m Fosun make a massive profit BUT the downside is what we are seeing over the last 3 games i. e. the first 11 is not only not getting stronger it is actually getting weaker.

I agree Nuno must be onside with this as I can't imagine any manager being willing to risk the present for the owners future profit but it is brave to say the least.
However this would indicate that Nuno is in for the long run and Jimenez signing a new contract is also a v positive sign of his believe in the future at Wolves?
