Linked with a move for Kalvin Phillips of Leeds. On the chance that they don't win promotion this year. All talk of course

Watching him tonight against Brentford tonight. I will be honest we could do a lot worse! Seems to have the lot. Strong aggressive can ping an absolute beauty of a ball.

At the right price I'd rip their arm off. wouldn't say that about many champ players.

Agree, very good player, I'd say long term replacement for moutiniho.

Don't fancy that Leeds winger, whatisname, something Costa?
He will costa-lot for Leeds bank balance! 15 big ones coming into Wolves soon. Imagine what Nuno can do with an extra £15mil? Nuno can create huge value by buying low (Traore, Jota, Jimenez, the list goes on and on) and selling high. Nuno didn't buy Costa, that was Walter.

I have an idea about Kalvin Phillips if Leeds don't get promoted. To save them shelling out for Costa, just do a swop for Phillips.

Correction. Walter Zenga brought Costa in and paid a loan fee I think, with an option to buy. It was under Nuno in the championship that the buy option was invoked, but at that time there was strong PL interest in Costa and we needed to keep him. Unfortunately after his injury he was never the same again. I'm at least right in saying that Nuno didn't bring Costa to Wolves as he was already there.

Am I right in saying Leeds have an obligation to buy Costa?

Toms Tatters, you are right. Leeds must write the cheque at the end of the season. He he. Masterstroke by Nuno.

Tell you what masterclass in the market at the moment. Heard today if Leeds don't get promoted Phillip's has a buyout of 20mil.

So that's Costa and 5 mil. Gew on then!

Costa's loan was made permanent in the January after he joined on loan in the summer. Paul Lambert was our manager at the time.

Greg, thanks. I remember now, it was Lambert. Costa had a great match at Anfield in the cup win against Liverpool. He also scored a superb goal at Cardiff. His form the interested a few PL clubs. It probably was a no-brainer to keep him. Nuno simply inherited him and did the right thing in letting him go to Leeds.

@Deep Throat, definitely! I think every single fan was screaming for Costa to be signed up at the time - the guy was our single best player that year. Sadly, as happens so many times, injuries / manager changes / confidence and all sort of other variable just went against him. Time to move on. He'll be a great player for many more teams I'm sure and wish him the best. I respect that about Nuno, if he doesn't think a player is right, out they go. No time for sentiment or misplaced loyalty.
