According to the might of The Sun " Wolves skipper Conor Coady is on Newcastle's wanted list for the January transfer window with the 28-year-old England defender likely to cost in the region of £20m. ".

24 Oct 2021 11:35:37
Can't see this happening as Coady under contract unitl 2025 and Wolves desparately need to strengthen the defence in January as Saiss and Boly are likely to be away at the African nations cup. Probably another Journalist short of bread and butter.

24 Oct 2021 20:15:36
Well no Manager in place and looking to recruit a sporting director, they need to get those positions filled first so I'll take it with a cellar of salt.

24 Oct 2021 20:37:17
Clickbait nothing else!

23 Oct 2021 09:33:54
Worrying news regarding Neto, seems unlikely he'll play this season! FWAW and Mind the gap.

22 Oct 2021 16:57:14
Kevin Thelwell allegedly being linked to the Director of Football post at Newcastle.

23 Oct 2021 13:11:25
Indeed, maybe he is being head hunted or maybe New York was only meant to be temporary. I hope its the former.

American investment firm buys a minority stake in Wolves, PEAK6 will inject cash into the club. Thoughts?

20 Oct 2021 21:22:48
The haven't.

21 Oct 2021 13:23:45
PEAK6 acquired a minority stake in Fosun Sports, which is a holding company for Wolves and associated businesses. This is good news for Wolves as PEAK6 has football expertise as well as money to invest. They have owned stakes in Roma and Bournemouth and still own Dundalk in Ireland. PEAK6 will have a seat on the Wolves board of directors.

19 Oct 2021 12:52:23
Media reporting that a US investment firm have acquired a minority share in Fosun Sports to help Wolves crack the American market.
From the Shropshire Star: "Chicago-based PEAK6 Investments will inject fresh funds, as well as offer expertise and give Wolves a presence in the US, as the club attempts to expand their reach across the pond".

19 Oct 2021 15:14:21
This was all part of the plan to build our brand across the globe and increase our revenue streams.

19 Oct 2021 21:57:55
Sounds good!

20 Oct 2021 08:22:50
Will they invest in the next generation of fans who are on “the waiting list” and are going to be lost by the Club forever, we’re being left behind in the stadium stakes, shouldn’t Fosun be “building the brand” in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas before targeting the rest of the World.

20 Oct 2021 08:57:37
Good and fair point Oxley but sadly the reality is that to compete we need an international revenue base.
Gate money is becoming an ever diminishing part of the revenue pie for the "big clubs" despite the huge stadiums and v high ticket prices they can charge and I don't see how we can compete any other way? .
Consequently whilst I agree a bigger stadium would be great the priority should be 1. Team 2. Team 3. Team 4 International brand (which actually costs v little if 1,2 and 3 are in place) and 5 Stadium (which has a long and high risk payback for the investment made - as older Wolves fans will recall all too well! )
If money is short push 4 and 5 back and have another 4 Team! |!

20 Oct 2021 13:26:02
Part of the attraction of watching the champions league and World Cup on tv is to see the magnificent stadiums. How can we attract all these new overseas fans if we have a small uninspiring stadium?
If the stadium doesn’t matter why don’t the England international games get played around the country at stadiums such as Burnley, Birmingham etc.

20 Oct 2021 13:46:12
Tbf E mate would you want to go to Burnley? :P
But on a serious note the stadium does need upgrading something like 12,000 on waiting list for tickets so increasing the capacity by 15,000 would go a very long way, it should have been done when matches were played with no fans imo.

20 Oct 2021 13:54:57
E from W.
We can attract new overseas fans by having a cracking good and successful team. The stadium will follow only when we are fully established at a higher level. England games need to be played in large stadiums for obvious reasons.

20 Oct 2021 15:55:16
The stadium project will have no bearing on our ability to spend unless it is paid for by incoming revenue. Fosun can and will build the stadium once all of the options are explored such as do they knock down or enhance current stands. If for instance they knocked down an entire stand, this would reduce income which in turn affects our ability to spend. If we do what Liverpool are doing with the Anfield Rd stand, this would mean the existing stand stays open whilst initial work is completed and then only closed for the bare minimum time until completion. This option would not affect our income as much as the stand will be open for longer. Obviously in that scenario, option 2 would be the best way to go. The only issue is the land surrounding Molineux. I know a colleague who has sat in on the strategic meetings re the Stadium and the club want to remove the dual carriageway, subway and buy out the Asda. This would give them a vast amount of land but at the moment there are a lot of hurdles in the way. A number of options are being looked at.

20 Oct 2021 17:14:35
Just a thought I wonder if it may be possible to play at the commonwealth games stadium in Perry Barr for one season after 2022, meaning that intensive work could be completed at Molineux without impacting the revenue stream.

20 Oct 2021 19:27:53
DT What is the benefit of attracting these overseas fans who couldn’t point to Molineux on a map when we are locking out the local next generation who want to attend the games? How Will the club make money from these new overseas fans?
The top European teams play in the top stadiums.

20 Oct 2021 22:40:30
E there are two issues here.
Firstly overseas fans generate revenues via sponsorship deals, overseas TV deals, merchandising etc which, despite the top teams playing as you state in big stadiums, generate far more revenue for the big teams than the gate money does. This would be the same for Wolves. Sad but true the game is now all about Sponsorhip, TV and Merchandising not gate money!
Real fans don't count as much as TV fans!
Secondly the stadium is only full, (and has a waiting list for tickets), because the team is doing well. It wasn't long ago that the stadium wasn't full!
So building a white elephant stand/ stadium instead of investing in the team - and Fosun aren't a charity and will only invest money they can get a return on and an empty Stand/ stadium doeSn't give a return - would be plain daft.
Once the team is strengthened to the extent we are etablished- which we aren't yet - in the top end of the Prem a new stand/ stadium can be built which will give us greater revenues increasing the virtuous circle.
Finally TV fans/ sponsors don't give a monkeys about the stadium - just the team/ results.
This may all seem cold and hard for real fans to accept but it is business and that is what Fosun is a business.

21 Oct 2021 00:44:29
Are these new overseas fans already fans of other clubs that we intend to convert to Wolves fans by our attractive playing style and gold shirts or are they fans that are not currently attached to any other club?
Do they intend to ever visit Molineux?
If so where will they sit?
What merchandise will they purchase to make our team better and sustain players wages of £100,000 per week?
Why would they attach themselves to Wolves when top European clubs stadiums look fantastic on tv and our stadium tv view is dominated by away fans along the top of the screen?

21 Oct 2021 03:01:50
I would assume that most fans in America/ China/ India/ Malaya etc etc or any other major non European/ south American market we may look to exploit don't "support" a team in the way you and I do but will watch/ follow any team that wins - like in fact millions of people in the UK - the average Man U fan lives in Bournemouth and like these "new" fans will never visit the stadium of the team they follow.
if we get followers in new markets sponsors from those markets will want to associate themselves with us paying us money - check out the accounts of Man u etc - this is where they make the money. In 2020 over 50% of united's £500+m of revenue came from commercial activities - sponsorship/ merchandising etc.
In the year to May 2019 - the year we came 7th and weren't affected by C.V. our gate Receipts were just over £11m out of turnover for Wolves of £172m so even doubling the stadium is irrelevant financially.
The big clubs make hundreds of millions from overseas activities sponsorship, tv rights etc if we want to compete sadly it is the only way.
In answer to your last q - because the team wins it has absolutely nothing to do with the stadium.
How else do you define the big teams or how do you think they became big teams - the big 6 in England win all the trophies.
Its actually v simple - win matches money rolls in lose matches you have an empty stadium and no money
So to win matches you have to invest in the team and that requires revenue streams and as shown above they don't come from stadiums but commercial activities sponsorship/ merchandising so in this instance I can't complain at all about what Fosun are attempting to do ie develop commercial activities in the US markets.

21 Oct 2021 09:34:52
Good thread, I think Jas recently quoted Fosun as worth about 180 billion, they are a commercial company and I its probably a reasonable assumption that they have some experience of marketing and brand growth. We all want to see success and all know its not guaranteed however if it does suddenly happen out of the blue the club needs a slick marketing function that can respond quickly and cash in as quickly as possible. So whilst I would love to see a 50k capacity back asap no complaints from me about the marketing ambitions of the club. Realising thise ambitions may not happen quickly though.

22 Oct 2021 09:57:37
Arddunby - I have criticised lots of aspects of Fosun's reign - whilst acknowledging that relative to previous regimes of the last 50 years its has been amazingly succesful!
As I am v v greedy and like "Oliver" I want more before it is too late for me!
The transfer dealing of the last two years - and I know people have defendeed Shi and the club strongly against my view - have been v poor (no point rehashing as we all know the facts) and to date our exploitation of the brand in overseas markets and in the UK has been v modest ( the accounts prove this - sorry dull I know! ) .
However the recent steps show that we, as a club, are addressing the key issue of revenue streams and with Lage getting the team to play good stuff (some of the time) and win (some of the time - although oddly rarely it seems doing both at the same time! ) I am pretty excited and happy that we are moving in the right direction - albeit slower than I greedily want!

22 Oct 2021 11:06:32
Future I think we are probably in a longer transition period. than some of us realised. I recognise the ambition of the club and totally agree with your analysis about gate receipts not being a large part of revenue stream. I'm not a business analyst but if I was I would hazard a guess that investing in a new stadium compared to marketing would produce a significantly lower rate of return in both the short and long term. The more I think about it the more I realise what a difficult job Fosun have undertaken. Most of the other clubs that were taken over in the Prem era were established Prem clubs with existing 40K+ capacity and in the early days no need to worry about FFP either So the kitchen sink could be thrown at team rebuilding. Just for the record I believe we are watching the most consistently successful side since 71 to 74, yes that could change as with any club and I do not want to go back to continual championship struggles or worse.

22 Oct 2021 11:48:50
Arddunby - polish up your CV. There is a job as a business analyst waiting for you in the "City" as you are spot on with everything you say.
Also remember in 71-74 football was a lot simpler as no one had any money and it was all about talent development/ scouting, tactics etc.
Hence Ipswich for example could be a European super power on the back of Bobby Robson and Derby and Forest bestrode the game as a consequence of the genius that was Brian Clough.
Now the CEO/ owner is the most important person at the club as the game is simply about money and global money at that.
Hence Chelsea are European Champions and the big 6 exist and have won virtually all of the domestic trophies for many many years now.
In Fosun we have a pretty good owner but as you say it is going to be v v hard as the big 6 aren't going to let us take their ball away without a fight ( and a dirty one at that! ) .
I also struggle to see Newcastle sweeping to the top any time soon despite the owners ambitions as the big 6 will ensure every barrier that can be put in their path will be.
Leicester, WH and one or two others including hopefully us are pushing at the door but it isn't going to be easy and I accept patience - not something io have in abundance is going to be needed. [I guess that is why I am so intolerant of the obvious mistakes made by the club in the last 2 years - we were/ are close to becoming a member of the big "7" (or 6 or 8? ) but we have v v few chances to cross the divide and mistakes that put us back a couple of years and several places in the league are thus v hard to stomach! ].

22 Oct 2021 19:58:59
Great thread gents good to read. I've always thought and obviously this is just a personal view that the building of the John Ireland stand was a totally wasted opportunity. For me once the clock and the stand went it was a chance to go and build an out of town stadium with space around it so it would be easier to cope with crowds and keeping visiting crowds out of the town centre. I guess even then it wouldn't get support from everyone but maybe people would see the logic. I think even now it would make sense and easier to manage crowds and think of the multi use it could have with easier motorway accessif built in the right place. Not needing so many reasons for not having events and generating funds for the club? As I said only my opinion back then we had massive crowds crammed in. Obviously you can't do that anymore.

22 Oct 2021 21:15:28
Ken - also apologises to you for not replying re Derek Parkin.
Surely if Terry Cooper - one of the best 3 English LBS in my life time ( Cole and Sansom being the other 2) had not played at the same time he would have got a bucket load of caps. V solid player in a team that was - even including Nuno's team - our most succesful side since the 50s!

22 Oct 2021 22:00:04
future you are right in that respect Derek just arrived at the right time for us but not for England. Great shame. Likewise for quite a few players back then. Kenny Hibbit for a start though I think he played for the Football League in a representative game against Italy I think or maybe that's in my imagination!

23 Oct 2021 13:16:38
The old Division 1 was full of English International calibre players back in the 70's, John Richards being another who missed out. How we failed to qualify for the later stages of international tournaments from 1972 to 1980 is baffling to me.

24 Oct 2021 11:00:08
Arddunby and Ken - it was a strange period. The "greats" according to the fans - Bowles, Marsh, Hudson, Currie, Mckenzie, Worthington, Osgood etc etc were not really recognised by England but Peter Storey, Brian Greenhof, Mike Pejic, Bob Latchford, Trevor Cherry and countless other solid uninspiring journeymen were often choosen.
Sadly not unlike many Wolves fans today the various England managers of the 70's weren't too keen on erratic skill and preferred stable solidity - Brian Greenhof and Peter Storey probably got more caps than Hudson and Currie!
ps Ken I had purple velvet flairs in the late 60s and lots of flower power shirts and big big ties!
Maybe the 60s and 70s weren't all that great after all!

24 Oct 2021 20:18:25
Future you're correct and you've failed to mention the greatest manager of the period who was regularly overlooked.

24 Oct 2021 20:40:09
future and I thought we had great taste and pride in what we wore, or maybe not!

06 Oct 2021 20:30:20
First week in October and Renato Sanchez back playing for Lille. Took a lot of criticism when I suggested we should have completed the deal for him when we had the chance. Admit he returned ahead of schedule, hopefully he doesn't suffer any setback and we can complete a transfer early in January.

07 Oct 2021 22:54:17
Easy to say now but let's wait and see if he's still fit come Jan first eh. These things are all relative, if someone had bought Jonny just after his 'recovery' they'd be feeling fairly silly right now! 👍.

17 Oct 2021 15:09:21
Interesting that he's back suggests media reports don't know the full story. As I am sure Sky were the ones reporting expected return was 12 weeks.

Looking at the transfer window now I don't think the club did awful.
They brought Trincao in to support Netos absence.
They brought Hwang Hee-Chan to take the pressure off Traore and Raul.
And the team are all getting back into a normal rhythm. With return of Raul, Boly, Podence and Marcal.
And Jonny and Neto to return at some point.
Lille stopped Botman and Sanches leaving not Wolves or the players makes things interesting as maybe our reputation has improved more than we think for the future.

05 Oct 2021 00:48:38
Adama Traore will be sold in January for 50m after refusing to sign a new deal.

05 Oct 2021 07:13:14
That means he's signed then. Cheers.

05 Oct 2021 09:05:19

05 Oct 2021 09:41:24
If you are right which I doubt I'd take the money and re-invest.

05 Oct 2021 10:29:39
I needed a good laugh this morning.

05 Oct 2021 11:40:30
Can I have the winning lottery numbers please, ITK?

05 Oct 2021 13:40:19
If he doesn't sign a new deal, there is little likely hood of us getting £50m for him as he enters his final year. I doubt we'd even be offered the £30m Spurs are said to have tabled in January.

05 Oct 2021 16:12:11
Consider this, where does Traore fit in the New Year when the front three will probably be Neto, Jiminez and Hwang.? Don't hesitate, take the money and keep the fee and the wages he will demand for new, quality signings.

05 Oct 2021 18:21:53
It will be a lovely problem to have won't it!
I wouldn't discount Podence either and Trincao will also have his fans.
At the moment if we can get Traore playing as he did in the first 3 games of the year - but with Jimenez and hopefuly now Hwang firing as well - we could be scarily strong going forwards.
With Coady now seemingly looking his former self as well and driving the defence things are looking up.
At the moment my biggest "concern" player wise is Semedo who seems to have lost confidence and is playing too conservatively.
But he is one of the better RWBs in the league and (like Jimenez and Coady who also struggled earlier on in the season) just needs to be given time and space to get his head sortedk and he will be fine.
Don't forget Otto who is one of the best LBs in the league will also return soon.
If in Jan we can get a CM in to allow Moutinho some rest and rotation and a CB in to cover Saiss and Boly's abscence in Africa we will be well set!

06 Oct 2021 06:46:12
Imo if Traore doesn't start having an end product and a consistent end product like others have said above we won't get anywhere near £50 million if he leaves us.

Agree with Neto back Lage will be spoilt for choice,
Trincio Neto hwang jiminez silva (Traore or not)

A possibility if it turns out Traore leaves with the freed up funds plus the money shi says we had last window buy a top class midfielder and/ or a centre back which we have clearly all wanted or want.

Stick with the faith and imo in the long run we ALL will be very happy indeed.

Being wolves is magic and I love it.

06 Oct 2021 08:48:46
Phil - I think you have to be careful about being sucked into this "he has no end product" debate and not judge him via Ceefax statistics but by his performances on the pitch
If you look how the real experts view him - the other 19 Premier League managers - you will see that they know his true value which is why they double, treble and even quadruple mark him and (therefore must) leave other Wolves players in oceans of space unmarked.
They devise defensive schemes to counter him and foul him at every opportunity.
Despite this (and the fact that when we attack there is often only 1 player to pass to - you need someone to assist to get an assist) he still creates 2 or 3 good chances every game and as Marcal did once on Saturday puts balls into places players should be. It is not his fault that they aren't there or if they are the chances aren't taken.
{If he is to stop (under pressure from 4 opponents) scan the horizon for a supporting colleague before passing that will often mean hitting the ball 30 yards backwards and look at the furore that casused when Moutinho did it once last week! }
When Jimenez was fit and Jota and Doherty were supporting him he did more than ok statistically.
Sadly of late none of those things have been available to him and he has struggled statistically.
If Hwang and Jimenez get upto his speed we and he will be fine.
ps you missed out Podence?

06 Oct 2021 10:58:06
Ok mate each to their own thoughts,
I stand by my clear opinion.
Hope it turns out the best outcome regarding Traore however it turns out.
When I was at the man utd game I thought of you when I was close up watching Traore leaving 2 3 utd players for dead, I thought I wish Thefutureisoldgold was sitting next to me.
Yes podence too.

06 Oct 2021 19:01:45
Agbonlahor is a troll.

07 Oct 2021 09:09:52
Phil that would be great - plenty of debate but hopefully lots of genuine support for the team!
ps do you follow Sofasport - it is a multi sport statistical analyis tool that looks at a plethora of data to come up with ratings for players - amongst other things.
Traore is currently ranked 13th in the Prem (with one or two of those above him having only played a few games - eg Chalobah of Chelsea) . Neves at 49 is our next highest ranked player.
Obviously everything is an opinion but other than by Wolves fans it seems he is v v highly rated and I am scared he will leave (for peanuts) and we will never see his like again at the Wolves - as I have said before he is in my view the best player in my lifetime to play at Wolves.

07 Oct 2021 17:24:59
I haven't seen that mate.
I know you're Traore's biggest fan that's why I was thinking of you when I was at the match.

07 Oct 2021 20:28:01
I'm with TFIOG Traore is one of a kind (other players have pace, other players have power but none have as much of both as Traore) . Plus for someone who is 5'9 - 5'10 he wins his fair share of headers and has great dribbling skills. I'd be disappointed to sell for £75mill but won't be surprised if we have to accept well below that if he doesn't sign a contract extension.
For all those who don't rate him how often does he get you on your feet as he goes past players? His end product is improving he does now look up so is likely to improve further in that respect so I for two would be sad to see us sell him.

07 Oct 2021 20:51:52
phil - you are a good man!

17 Oct 2021 03:10:05
Phil I think my street heard me scream the house down when neves cleverly knew how to deflect that shot off targett brilliant I bet it was pandemonium in villa park come on me babbies.

18 Oct 2021 12:41:37
Great stuff mate👍.

19 Sep 2021 23:12:26
Can't help wondering who'll be gone first. Bruno or Nuno.

20 Sep 2021 14:01:34
Funnily enough Sharesum I was thinking exactly that myself.

22 Sep 2021 13:33:31
I think lose tonight and Sunday the clock will start ticking.
I don't blame Bruno it's the players I blame.

23 Sep 2021 05:50:03
I just can't see what Bruno brings to molineux. Fosun want cheap and this is what they get. The injuries we are getting, will soon start to show. By January we could quite possibly be looking at the championship next season. They brought this manager in and failed to back him, so I ask the question, is he just a stop gap. We are the new Sheffield United of this season.

24 Sep 2021 13:32:57
Careful demon, criticism is frowned upon by quite a few who refuse to see the Club isn’t just standing still it’s going backwards at an alarming rate. Baring in mind there were hardly any additions in the summer, this group of players have now won only four PremierLeague matches from the last eighteen played and two of those were against teams that went on to be relegated, saw their Head Coach give up on them and leave (by mutual consent) and start every game like they’ve never seen each other. Even the most die - hard fans must be starting to get just a little concerned. Last time we were relegated we won our first two games and drawed the third (just saying)

24 Sep 2021 14:36:41
I have a bad feeling that the dressing room isn't united behind Bruno we have seen this before years ago and we were relegated twice obviously I don't actually know but if someone has to go then I hope it happens now not in March when we are fighting for survival.

24 Sep 2021 14:49:03
There's critism and constant silly posts Oxley.
Demon has posted imo a very good point and structural critism no one has any issues at all with posts like that.

25 Sep 2021 15:49:11
I blame Bruno for sticking with Raul "I no longer can hit the target" Jimenez and Adama "all show" Traore when Podence, Hwang and Fabio have all done more than them in one cup game.

Sorry but Traore is a waste of space. He is like Zaha. Looks good at a club like ours but put him at Chelsea and he'd be forever shown at news years on "prem leagues top xx flops" videos on YouTube and Five.

Raul has lost it. We can't keep giving him time. Put him in u23s and if he still can't score ship him to Mexico. I'm not sure why Mexico want him for internationals. They not seen our games? Guy is a liability.

Hwang and Podence look streets ahead of Raul and Adama.

Time to get rid of Saiss, Adama, Raul and Marcal and get in better players. Dendonker is only on reprieve cause he managed to finally do something against spuds.

As for who will go first. Nuno. How many managers have spuds had since Rednap. Sorry but he will be gone by Xmas. The only way Lage is gone is if we are bottom 3 at Xmas.

26 Sep 2021 18:31:11
Raul has lost it has he?! What a load of tripe! If you'd had your way Raul 'the liability' would have been playing in the u23 today's, great way to treat a hero of the club! You sure your an actual Wolves fan Flawed?! Shocking 🤣.

27 Sep 2021 15:09:51
PF 0 Raul 1
If there is any criticism of the team, don't blame Santo or Lage.
It was the severely bad decision-making of Shi and Sellars in last summer's transfer window, left the Club with a poor squad incapable of scoring all last year (only 37 league goals) . Nuno did well to keep us up.
Yet another incompetent recruitment window this summer, also left us without players who can score.
Bruno is doing well to get any goals out of the current side, hopefully we will stay up.
We need to see Shi and Sellars sacked!
Santo was great for us, very sad to see him clearly struggling with Levy and a group of "Big time Charlies".

27 Sep 2021 16:46:25
How exactly was the recruitment 'incompetent' as you put it?

Bruno Lage has openly come out and said that the squad needs additional signings BUT he does not want players to fill the squad, only players that can improve the squad. He wants players who will push the current players to become better, not players who will only play if others are injured.

Jeff Shi has said that money was not the problem. The problem was trying to convince players to give up Champions League/ Europa League football to join us.

Trincao and Sa were players who have been convinced simply because, Sa wanted to play in a better league and Trincao wanted regular playing time.

The likes of Botman, Sanches (injured) and Kamara are playing regularly for their teams and in the elite competitions.

27 Sep 2021 19:59:21
Jas - to be fair Trincao was also being forced out by his club for monetary rather than playing reasons. Barcelona could be a good shop to buy in in January aswell.

Until we are back in a European competition our issue will always be finding players who will want to come to us and are good enough to improve the first 11 (you and Jeff are right it's not necessarily about money) .

I see the clickbaits are linking us to Insigne (age and wages suggest that's not our usual profile for recruitment so I would rate as unlikely) .

28 Sep 2021 07:33:59
JasM, Really?!
Shi and Sellars have controlled transfer policy over the last 3 windows.
To most fans, lack of goals has been a major concern for many months.
We only managed 37 league goals last season.
Wasted valuable resources last summer and didn't bring many goals.
Not much in January and no goals signed this summer.
Villa by contrast, bought in 2 strikers at sensible prices, Brentford signed Toney etc.
So it is not about spending big, but having an efficient scouting network.
We clearly do not have such a structure. Thank God for Gestifute, otherwise we would be nowhere.
The CEO and Head of Football need replacing.

RugelwyWolf2, yes really.

Just watch Bruno Lages interview after the window closed where he confirms that he made the decision not to sign players if they didn't improve the squad.

I know that a lack of goals have been a concern over the last few months but did you forget that Jimenez was injured for that period but is now back. If we bought in a new forward (which we actually have, Hee Chan and Trincao, remember them? ) What would you have done with Jimenez and Silva. I know the easy answer is 'sell them' but if Silva is so poor, who would buy him.

How about just supporting the club rather than berating them.

Agree with Jas.

If you look at that we so nearly won our first 3 games if we had we would be top of the league with 15 points.
To me all is not as bad as the table shows at present.
Football more so in the premier league the margins of winning or not can be very small.
I for one are behind the club.
In a perfect happy ever after world we would have a squad to match any in the league but being patient I am under the belief that one day we will or at least be close to.

28 Sep 2021 13:17:36
How's that humblepie taste PF?

30 Sep 2021 07:41:28
Sorry JasM, we clearly both support our wonderful Club, but we have different perspective on the current situation.
What is concerning is there appears to be 2 factions;the manager and his team and the senior management.
Santo was frustrated with a poor transfer window last summer. Silly money spent on players who did not strengthen the squad. For example, we were desperate for more goals, couldn't rely on Raul (50% of our goals the season before) and we sold Jota and Doherty, most of the rest. We spent silly money on Silva AND according to various sites pay him £80k a week (now valued at £6m! ) .
Santo did really well when we lost Raul to keep us up.
He was let go and we bring in a manager with a reputation for attacking football.
Senior management then have a second summer window and again fail to sign goals.
It is clear from the first game, Lage delivers on a more attractive way to play. However now he is already frustrated he does not have the goal scorers in the squad thanks to the senior management.
So, who is right, 2 good managers or the Club's policy-makers?
Like many, I will passionately support the team and manager, but I will not support the incompetent CEO and Head of Football.
Hopefully neither will Fosun.

30 Sep 2021 12:34:56
OK, we'll agree to disagree. I think Fosun bringing in Mosquera, Trincao, Sa and Hee Chan shows that they have ambition.

I don't know why everyone keeps blaming Fosun for selling Doherty and Jota. Both wanted to leave. Should Shi have dug his nails in like Daniel Levy at Spurs with Harry Kane?

We finished 13th last season and the board came out and admitted their mistakes and are trying to correct them.

As for Fabio Silva, he's on £18k per week. Don't read everything you read in the media.

30 Sep 2021 13:29:23
Good discussion JasM!
Totally agree with you on the signings of Mosquera, Trincao, Sa and Hee Chan. all look good additions. However, signings did not address the shortage of goal-scorers and broader mid-field issues.
Like you, I do not blame the Club for selling Jota. Was not a Nuno first-choice at time of sale, Neto seen as more capable of developing further.
Club offered a very good price as Liverpool were panicking and had lost 2 other options.
So, we get good money (eventually), Player allegedly doubles his wages and Liverpool were happy. A win for everyone. Yes, Jota is scoring, who wouldn't in that team!
Nuno wanted an up-grade on Doherty. not sure we got that for the money spent. But a good sale for a player now not playing in the Premiership!
You have cheered me up on Silva's salary, would be madness to pay the money rumoured.
But back to my central theme, admitting mistakes is good, BUT why 12 months later do you fail to secure players for the areas everyone know need strengthening?
It shows we are glaringly under-performing on recruitment. We have to rely so heavily on Gestifute, God bless them, because our local set-up is so poor.
So, to say again if I were Fosun, some big changes at the top would be made.

30 Sep 2021 14:56:03
Last season was a very strange one as far as I'm concerned. We basically had 2 weeks break between seasons due to our Europa League commitments.

In relation to the mistakes regarding signings, yes, last season they were questionable. Semedo wasn't up to speed but at the time of signing, everyone thought he was an upgrade on Doherty. Fabio Silva was never earmarked for the 1st team but circumstances dictated that he was thrown in when clearly not ready. To ease the burden on Silva, William Jose was brought in and that, I will admit was a mistake, even though it didn't look like it when announced.

Semedo now looks a much better player and if he could improve his finishing, would be the best RB in the league. Marcal has been good at times and bad at others but the fact that Ait Nouri is being suggested to come into the team shows again that he was a good signing too, likewise Hoever.

Although I was shocked and saddened when Nuno was relieved of his duties, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed the style of football we have played since Lage came in. Likewise, my cousin is a Spurs STH and he has told me that he hates that way that Nuno has set up Spurs to play.

30 Sep 2021 15:53:43
Likewise JasM our problem was before Brunos appointment, I like is way of playing and we need to judge him on is team when he gets players who he wants to play to is system.

Any news on traore signing a new contract?

15 Sep 2021 22:16:53
Not yet but from a few sources it sounds like him and his agent want to insert a release clause which is holding things up (either the club don't want one or think the fee proposed is too low) .

17 Sep 2021 09:03:32
Had to laugh at the Graham Roberts comment ex spurs player saying why would Traore want to sighn for Wolves when he can sighn for a better club just shows how jealous they are of our football club.

17 Sep 2021 11:16:14
The only fans who think Spurs are a top 6 club are Spurs fans.

At least Liverpool, Man U, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea have won something in the last 10 years.

Since Spurs last lifted a trophy, Birmingham, Wigan, Swansea, Leicester and Portsmouth have won one of English footballs major honours. Don't see any of them claiming to be big 6.

17 Sep 2021 11:35:34
Bigwolf all Wolves fans know that we are a better club than Spurs and Wolvo is a better city than London but to a neutral it may be appealing to play in a super stadium in the capital for a team who were in the champions league final recently and regularly finish in the top six. We know Traore would be making a big mistake by going to Spurs the same as Doc but the club need to convince him and make him an offer he can’t refuse if they want him to sign.

17 Sep 2021 13:34:08
The funny thing about it is that although Spurs like to think they're top 6, they have actually been getting worse and worse:

4th:18/ 19
6th:19/ 20 on goal difference
7th:20/ 21.

18 Sep 2021 18:35:30
You lot are done, just like I told you so, not so big mouthed now lads are you. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

You're Championship fodder now and this season or next you will be there.

{Ed033's Note - Steady on.

18 Sep 2021 21:57:59
Not a chance there are at least 6 weaker teams than us by far.
Brighton, burnley, watford, norwich, beat us today but brentford when injuries settle in, leeds.
Nothing against villa far play to you, leon bailey signing of the season for sure, thought that when he signed and he had a top performance today fair play up the midlands teams.

19 Sep 2021 12:19:46
At least we didn't have to sell our stadium, that money is soon going to run out.

23 Sep 2021 05:52:41
E from wombourne. Your having a laugh aren't you, Wolverhampton better than London. Wolverhampton is a hole which needs flattening and rebuilding.

25 Sep 2021 15:50:34
Weren't villa in this position when they came up?

25 Sep 2021 15:51:43
Why would we want to keep him? Should have sold him so he could showcase his lack of end product on a bigger stage lol.

Sorry but Trincao is better than he is. Trincao has actually done something. Traore is just running man. Not sure why are fans accept it.

09 Sep 2021 16:03:12
Several news stories are quoting an interview with Botman where he states he is happy at Lille however was open to moving to Wolves.

Do you think we would be successful in a double swoop for Sanches and Botman again in the Jan window?

Ps. Sorry I seem the upset people with my to date only other post on the page about Hwang. Just didn't rate the deal. Felt MGW was better in that sort of role.

10 Sep 2021 06:40:32
I think sanches most or more likely than botman as I think Lille will put botman price up.
But anything can happen from now till January.
Regarding MGW I like him as a player but he desperately needs playing time hence his loan move. The club clearly rate him as an asset as he signed a long term deal before going to Sheffield United on loan.
Hoping MGW stays injury free and has a good season.

10 Sep 2021 09:55:58
We can't properly judge Bruno until we have recruited the players he wants. I reckon he will do well with what we have until January, and then he will surely be given the green light to sign more.

10 Sep 2021 19:00:51
Swansea were loving MGW until his recall if I remember rightly.

12 Sep 2021 07:07:16
MGW scored a better and an assist on his debut for Sheffield United.
A great start for the lad.

12 Sep 2021 08:35:40
Belter not better sorry predictive text.

12 Sep 2021 16:23:15
Interesting that Lage says he wanted to keep MGW, it suggests that it was the player that pushed for the move. Its a shame cause I think he could learnt a lot in fold with the new set up, maybe he wants to get some regular game time to be up to speed come Jan? 🤔.
