Is bonatini the deadly finisher we need what do people reckon. I personally think if we sign the likes of Gallagher. then we can say goodbye to walking this league. just my opinion.

09 Aug 2017 23:28:04
Ask Leeds thay had a 20 plus one?

Ask Leeds thay had a 20 plus one?

10 Aug 2017 00:33:34
Everyone is looking for that 20+ goal a season striker in this league and to do that you either have to pay big bucks for a proven forward or you find a gem who has an exceptional season.
We need that quality proven striker and have the backing to achieve that, we can't mess about with potential as our main forward, Oliviera, Wood or Rhodes fit this mold.
I believe that we have the quality back up to score the goals we need. but we need to break the bank for that quality striker, Nunos no mug, we'll get that man.

10 Aug 2017 08:27:32
I'd take Gallagher will score more goals than mason and dicko will do a job in the championship we know he can score in this league he did it last season with Blackburn who was assisted by Marshall who also won't walk into our team straight away cause he has a lot of decent wingers ahead of him, even if it's for just this season, let's get out of this league.
It's going to be harder to get to the prem than stay in it I'm telling you. We will be able to attract much better players if we were in it.

10 Aug 2017 09:53:41
I don't think Leo Bonatini was ever meant to be the main man. To me he's probably a better prospect than Kevin Doyle was when first signed, but he's not going to score heaps. I reckon 12 to 15 goals a season but he will link up well and play off the main striker - who we have yet to sign. Leo will create lots of goal-scoring assists for others.

{Ed047's Note - Give the lad a chance buddy he has 1 goal in 1 league game as it stands haha.}

10 Aug 2017 10:28:27
Just a bit of info.
Wood 27 goals
Abraham 23
Kodija 19
Kermorgant 18
Jerome 16
Assombalonga 14

What do they all have in common.?
All play for teams that didn't get promoted.
I would imagine Bonatini if selected will get 14-18 goals this season-he seems a good finisher from the very limited
time I've seen him play (he might get 30.)
Costa and Cav should get 20 between them.
Jota 6-10.
Centre halves 10 between them.
Wing backs 6/ 7.
Subs and other midfielders 15-20
That's around 70 goals or 1.5 a game. if we don't concede we'll win more than we lose.
A "20 goal a season striker" isn't essential in my opinion the way we play.

10 Aug 2017 11:35:40
We only need 46 goals if we are going to win 1-0 every week!

In all seriousness though, I think we are going to see a lot of 1-0s this season. People talk a lot about attacking flair, but Portuguese football is based on a solid defence and lots of possession and the way we are set up indicates to me that we are going to play a lot of possession football (and that does mean sideways and backwards passing) . Add to the mix that a lot of teams will park the bus and try to stifle us as Yeovil did.

1-0 might be worth a regular bet!

10 Aug 2017 12:35:56
1-0 will be likely if we don't sign a proven striker. But there aren't many proven strikers around at the minute. Middlesborough had 6 at the weekend and played 4 at the end and they still couldn't score. I see us conceding 30 or less goals this season. If Nuno gets the striker right we will be laughing.
Re Edwolf1 some of those estimates seemed a little bit out mate. A striker is still needed someone who needs to pre occupy 2 players and create space for our flair players cav, Costa, jota, bright and dicko and bonatini.

10 Aug 2017 16:21:44
Good strategy Edthwolf1. Must make sure we don't sign a striker who's going to knock 14 goals or more this season.

10 Aug 2017 20:01:06
I think everyone would take weekly 1-0 wins as long as we are in the mix at the sharp end of the season. UTW.

10 Aug 2017 20:34:43
As I expected. mindless replies (euroman)
I didn't say we shouldn't sign a 20 goal a season striker. I said it's not essential.
Anewdawn-we're only playing 1 up front. And will for probably 3/ 4 of the season I would imagine. As long as Bonatini has a good touch and movement (which it looks like he has) he will occupy 2 defenders anyway because no one defends 1v1 these days.
Our flair players will make space for themselves as they're intelligent and quick.
Please tell me what numbers seem out on my goals predictions. they seem reasonable to me.

10 Aug 2017 20:44:10
Edthewolf1.

I totally agree.

Besides, our new formation and approach allows 3 or 4 players to be in or around the box once our play has got us forward. The list of strikers to score 14+ last season is made up of lone strikers. teams reliant on one player to score the goals and resulted in not going up. The strength is on the pack.

10 aug 2017 21:22:22
andy carrol.

10 Aug 2017 22:25:07
Is an injury prone Geordie.

11 Aug 2017 08:39:15
People get carried away with a 20 goal striker. What difference is the striker getting 25 with LF/ RF both getting 10 each compared to all 3 getting 15?

11 Aug 2017 14:36:04
the term 'striker' is none existent in the NES way of things. each and every one of the 10 outfield players will be footballers first and foremost. comfortable and confident with the ball. roles will be designated only loosely within the confines of their specific area of designated operation and highly interchangeable within it. this is the learning curve that is greatly affected by the origin of recruits and in that respect, bearing in mind that the season is under way, expect a forward of continental pedigree not a striker with typical English coached attributes whose success can only be measured from such indigenous endeavours.

09 Aug 2017 21:46:37
Hearing that fat head Bruce is showing an interest in Jordan Rhodes, hope they don't sign him.

09 Aug 2017 23:21:35
Fat head by his own admission says that Villa are on the edge of breaking FFP, can't see this happening unless it's a loan or Villa sell some players.

They blew there wad last season and have to be more street wise now.

09 Aug 2017 23:29:03
Villa wolves can play the fine. its around 6.5 million.

10 Aug 2017 07:07:56
They can dock you points as well now I think.

10 Aug 2017 07:11:39
Rhodes would be a risk. Can he get back to the levels we know he can reach? On the other hand can he score 15-20 goals and almost guarantee us play offs as much as I would aim for automatic.
Also is Rhodes, dicko and bonatini good enough?
I can see 20 goals between them I'm just not sure any one of them will score 20 goals.
Is rhodes a better risk to take than Oliviera or soares?
Makes you wander. Britt was probably the stand out championship striker to sign but can wolves sign better?
That is the question Nuno and Fosun need to answer.

10 Aug 2017 09:34:30
That's very harsh on Rhodes. Yes he hasn't hit the heights for a season but he's been in and out Boro and Wednesdays teams a lot also changing of manager. The lad has hardly scored for a season but still in the last few season he's about 2 off Chris Martin with something like 50 goals. For Blackburn he netted 75 in 3 and a half campaigns and look where they've gone without him. Would be a great asset for us mark my words. Unfortunately Sheff Wed won't strengthen a rival so it's a non starter for me.

10 Aug 2017 15:48:25
That's opinion WolvesMan99.
That's 9 goals in 18 months that's not promotion form and none in the prem.

09 Aug 2017 20:07:24
Looking at Joel Campbell from Arsenal on a season loan.

09 Aug 2017 21:12:15
He will do.

09 Aug 2017 21:31:44
Campbell has just had knee surgery and is out for at least six months.

09 Aug 2017 21:57:09
Hope there's some substance to this post Jet ski. I think he would be perfect. More info?

09 Aug 2017 22:05:55
Id take Joel Campbell on loan 👌 can play on both wings, would give us so much depth and ease off the pressure when costa and Marshall are getting fit 👌.

09 Aug 2017 22:34:09
Joel Campbell is out for five more months with a knee injury. I doubt we are in on him with such a long recovery time ahead.

09 Aug 2017 22:41:34
Is this BS or not? Personally I reckon he is as good if not better than the others mentioned. To be frank anyone could be signed and anyone one of them could bugger off somewhere else for some reason or another. This transfer window is NUTS!

10 Aug 2017 13:16:18
Personally I don't think Rhodes gray bamford assombalonga Gallagher r going to get us 20 goals in the season the only 2 players I think will is oliveira and soares as well as goals from other parts of the team.

10 Aug 2017 17:05:21
How do you work that out Essex wolf?
You have just said 3 players that have done it can't do it.
Yet your preferred candidates have never scored over 10- what makes you think 20 will come?
I agree there are risks attached to Rhodes and bamford. I have also said that none of the linked players have looked likely or look a little beneath what we are aiming for.
It's a challenge I'm sure Nuno and Fosun are doing there best to rectify!
Ps that first question wasn't supposed to sound sarcastic.

09 Aug 2017 19:20:26
Sheffield United made a bid for Conor Coady, hope we don't cash in for fair play reasons, from what I have seen he is the leader and glue we need.

09 Aug 2017 19:45:03
No chance given his pre-season performances and the Captain's armband.

09 Aug 2017 20:04:02
It seems to me that Nuno wants to ship out most of the players that jackett zenga and lambert bought and bring his own in it wouldn't surprise me if Coady was sold along with 1or2 others.

09 Aug 2017 20:13:58
Can't really see this one having validity, based on Wollabby's comment above. Perhaps one of the few successes of our recent managerial acquisitions, Coadys value has increased tenfold and possibly one of the fist names on the team sheet now.

09 Aug 2017 20:28:29
I doubt it either seems to have found his position there.

09 Aug 2017 20:48:39
Yet last season quite a few were slating Coady and wanted him out, how times have changed.

09 Aug 2017 21:48:02
They can have batth if they want.

09 Aug 2017 21:58:50
He's been captain and probably played more minutes under Nuno than anyone else! Unless they are offering stratospheric sums absolutely no chance!

09 Aug 2017 22:53:24
Not sure about everyone else but thought Coady was miss-used by Zenga/ Lambert, mainly Lambert at RB, and really wasn't a fan and first to slate him but looks a true leader a cb under Nuno.

10 Aug 2017 12:46:57
Hes a bettet right back than midfielder bisho. The reason he was being slated was because of inept performances in midfield. He possibly seems to have found his niche as sweeper or one of 3 centre halfs.

10 Aug 2017 15:09:21
Too negative when playing in midfield imo Old Wulf.

09 Aug 2017 14:42:07
Not sure how true but Wolves after Bassong apparantly a £3million bid has been tabled.
This is only what someone is telling me, personally I can't see it being true just thought i'd post incase anyone on here knows about it.

09 Aug 2017 14:55:18
Hope not he was a donkey the last time he was here.

09 Aug 2017 15:06:45
No no no please no, why would we want him?! I hope your on very strong drugs and misread.

09 Aug 2017 15:24:57
We going forward not backwards.

09 Aug 2017 15:57:19
Not going to happen. Next rumour please.

09 Aug 2017 16:03:39
Might be wrong but wasn't he released by Norwich.

09 Aug 2017 16:17:53
Bassing could joinYeovil!

He was too slow and lacked talent last time he was here.

09 Aug 2017 16:37:10
Bassong he's rubbish if I remember rightly he was in the side that lost 5-1 to them up the road 2 days later Mick got the sack we get them back for that in the next couple of years.

09 Aug 2017 16:51:17
Yes that's a good point he hasn't get a club currently so who are we paying 3m to?

09 Aug 2017 17:26:01
The squad is to good for bassong to b in it no chance.

09 Aug 2017 17:59:56
He was released by Narrrich so would be free or he might pay us 3m to take him on!

09 Aug 2017 23:59:01
I did say I can't see it myself to the smart alec who asked if I was on strong drugs I suggest you read posts properly first.
To the others thanks guys for clearing this rumour up for me.

10 Aug 2017 07:34:46
You didn't know or check. Posting rubbish for the sake of what?

10 Aug 2017 10:34:34
Last I heard this was a rumour site Pipwolf there's a clue there somewhere. I'm not going to respond further unless it's something sensible yes I heard a rumour, yes I posted it asking if others knew, yes the rumour was untrue, yes i'm a moron :P
yes Wolves will win 2-0 saturday.

09 Aug 2017 14:15:20
Nelson Oliveira given permission to speak to wolves. £8.5M fee was agreed on was agreed on Monday. Expect him to be announced after the Derby game.

09 Aug 2017 14:22:04
Wwfc insider, that's the way to write a rumour! U could learn off Winstonwolf, instead of fannyin about wantin your belly rubbed!

09 Aug 2017 14:33:21
Nothing intended but if you're going to post info you supposedly know you have to put a source of some sort?

{Ed007's Note - No you don't.}

09 Aug 2017 14:48:46
Andre gray signing for Watford Rhodes no Gallagher no Afobe no oliveira yes he will at home with his Portuguese mates get plenty of service and score bags of goals get soares as well and an attacking midfielder and we should b done.

09 Aug 2017 14:57:59
He's left himself wide open to ridicule if the deal falls through, he's named the player and the price that's good enough.

09 Aug 2017 15:12:19
Would be ecstatic. if we got olviera and soares. plus an amf. that would make us odds on for title. you think.

09 Aug 2017 15:22:54
Attacking midfielder? So where in a 343 system does anyone imagine he would play? Who from the line-up against Middlesboring would be out? Neves? Saiss? Or are people thinking an 'attacking midfielder' plays out wide - where we already have Costa, Cavaleiro, Graham, Marshall, Jota etc? If we were playing 4231 then an attacking midfielder in the 'number 10' slot makes sense but as it appears we will be playing 343 it doesn't. Look at Chelski, their central midfield last season was Matic and Kante neither of whom are 'attacking'.

09 Aug 2017 15:26:56
Why after the derby game lol I'm sure they would like the money fast to get there target?

09 Aug 2017 16:07:58
Agree dapper, surely norwich would want to get a replacement in asap, what advantage would it be to either club to delay if true.

09 Aug 2017 16:31:49
Some stage in the game things r not going well he's going to change the system plus we're going to get injuries Costa Marshall already out price and Edwards hopefully get sold das these things have to b thought about.

09 Aug 2017 18:33:32
He won't play 3-4-3 all season.
He is known to use 4-2-3-1 which a lot of the wolves squad would be comfortable with.
It's the attacking creative players that may struggle. Cav wouldn't be a winger I could see playing well as he usually uses his right foot and comes in from the left. Costa, cav and jota playing the three though and inter changing.
I'd have reservations of Doherty playing rb in that system though. He cost us so many points last season. So did others I just remember him costing us against Leeds, blues, Bristol city to name a few.
There will be more purchases but I can see the 3-4-3 as Nuno selling himself as a new modern manager who has managed at top clubs in Europe.
His man management style and the way he communicates his style is amazing. Keep it going mucka!

10 Aug 2017 08:10:17
We have an attacking central mf it's Edwards but he doesn't look right in this system he didn't play well against Yeovil either . with 3 along the back we need Saiss and Neves in the middle not another attacker behind the front 3.

09 Aug 2017 13:57:09
Wolves have enquired for Riad Bajic.

09 Aug 2017 14:20:02
He only signed for Udinese a week ago.

09 Aug 2017 14:25:03
No they haven't, but thanks anyway.

09 Aug 2017 14:38:57
Magic.

09 Aug 2017 14:52:58
Heard it from Debbie McGee?

09 Aug 2017 15:27:55
When the 6 week holidays finish.

09 Aug 2017 12:25:46
What ever happened to the striker "in advanced talks" posted on here by WWFC INSIDER. Has he been left outside instead?

09 Aug 2017 12:32:24
Yeah I know what a load of bollocks
He probably hasn't got many friends.

09 Aug 2017 12:53:47
I posted yesrtday but it didn't show . will be done by weekend . foreign.

09 Aug 2017 13:07:25
I predict we will have at least one more striker in and at least one more player to leave before deadline day? My Source I hear u say? Common flippin' sense! 😂.

09 Aug 2017 13:31:50
I know strikers name and fee but will not reveal nothing no more blame paulcookleft peg. goodbye forever.

09 Aug 2017 13:48:00
With Andre Gray on his way to Watford, does anyone wonder if we might have a shot at getting Troy Deeney?

09 Aug 2017 13:50:25
Bath Edwards price gone in 2 weeks I hope.

09 Aug 2017 13:58:57
WWFC insider imagine you were reading somebody els s comment that said. Something really big is going to happen and I know what it is, but you don't and I can't tell you what is. How would you react? I think you might say something like why are you winding me up and creating sleepless nights for the sake of it. You might feel that the person is full of something stinky or on an ego trip. It's only natural that people will respond as Paulcookll did. If the person then said goodbye for ever, you would probably think they were a dream queen. So my suggestion is either man up and come clean on what you can and can't say. Or draw a line, stop betraying confidences for an ego trip and move on. Don't mean to be harsh but you're dabbling with emotive issues here.

09 Aug 2017 14:15:26
Wwfc insider if your genuine put the fee down or the initials? Or we will just keep thinkin your full of 💩.

09 Aug 2017 15:00:06
I have been told by someone who I can't name that we will be playing a football match on Saturday at 3 o clock in the Midlands area.

09 Aug 2017 19:13:43
Typical left leg. You don't even say which Saturday.

09 Aug 2017 19:14:44
Can you at least give us a clue to which Saturday?

09 Aug 2017 22:54:33
More to the point if you do it on a weekly basis (which has been the case recently) . by the weekend. by the weekend etc then your basically just a broken clock. always right once a day! Seriously though Paul WHICH Saturday and who is your source here?! ;)

08 Aug 2017 23:20:17
Not sure if anyone noticed that nelson oliveira didn't make the squad at all for norwich in the cup. Can only add to his frustration after saturday when he was named sub.
Him or soares will do for me or both. Also mason left out the squad means that his days are coming to an end. Can see bristol city definetely snapping him up.

09 Aug 2017 00:23:06
I had not noticed that out, good spot! I would be very happy with Oliviera, his strike rate at this level is good and proven. Hopefully the being dropped is a response to him wanting to make the change cause odd to have dropped him for the league game if not?

As for Mason I think he will like ya say be with Bristol soon, they bid on him last Aug after they lost Kodija think we only probs turned it down cause we were all over the place with transfers at the time! Think a fresh start all round would be best, not his fault but his injury record for us has been savage!

09 Aug 2017 01:25:29
Bullysboy with oliveira we know what were getting in terms of he's had a good pre season, knows what the championships all about, scores goals, good all round striker, portuguese international who would fit straight into our style of play and improve us . Well within our means fee wise and passionate which he showed the weekend.

09 Aug 2017 06:29:52
Oliveira and Wolves looks such an obvious match. This lad's a fine striker, has great technique, knows where the goal is and links play well. Has to be the pick of the strikers touted to sign for us and a deal could be done if we ship one or two players.

09 Aug 2017 07:29:39
Oliviera is crap compared to other players we have been linked to.
This is the weekend where players find out whether they are going to be part of a clubs plans or not.
Gray-probably waiting on Burnley to sign a replacement
Afobe- will he start and be part of the plans of Howe.
Rhodes- not my choice but could be interesting if he plays. As I'm sure wolves and other clubs have chased him.

09 Aug 2017 08:38:12
Anyone notice that John Ruddy and Michal Zyro didn't make the squad at all last night. Surely a sign that their time is up just like Rhodes at Sheff Weds and Olivera at Norwich. Or maybe the manager just wanted to use the ties to assess other players available like Nuno did!

09 Aug 2017 09:03:32
Lmao!

09 Aug 2017 09:06:50
Jas M are you real . John Ruddy is our no. 1 keeper . stop writing such rubbish.

09 Aug 2017 09:08:58
Yes Jas your right all I was saying is it will be interesting come the next couple of weeks but this week be will highlight players that aren't to settled at the minute.
I'd didn't mention players playing lest night as in essence it is seen as a pre season game.

09 Aug 2017 09:18:01
Sedgley. I don't know if you can tell but I'm being sarcastic.

09 Aug 2017 09:37:36
Jas- fiar point regarding last nights game but that still doesn't explain why Norwich would drop there top goal scorer from last season for the league opener? Pretty sure Ruddy played for us in the important game. eg the league!
Anew- Not a chance Gray is happening, Watford have just agreed £18.5m for him by all accounts. As for Afobe and Rhodes you can keep um, both suspect attitude and both lost their scoring touch! Oliviera is in fact averaging more goals to mins than both right now anyway!

{Ed047's Note - Promotion is the target this season so expect different sides for the cup games.}

09 Aug 2017 10:21:35
One other thing I don't get is why peeps think Afobe is even an option (or Rhodes for that matter)?! Afobe left under a cloud and has shown NO sign what's so ever of being unhappy at Bournemouth and if he was would almost certainly find a place at a newly promoted team before dropping down to a league that he clearly saw as below him (with the way he left) . As for Rhodes he only signed this window for £10m?! To be honest if he bounced out of another club THAT quickly I would be VERY inclined to steer clear as it couldn't be good to need two moves in one window!

09 Aug 2017 12:13:09
From what I've read Sheffield fans feel it's a lack of service rather than a lack of quality from Rhodes. If you can't afford the quality in midfield to supply a goal poacher like Rhodes then I would say yes you are better off selling and go for a different style of striker. You need goals to stay in the league.

09 Aug 2017 12:29:18
P282- Fair point if they hadn't signed him this window. but they have! Not that much could have changed in there planning between the start of the window and now?! Besides which even if it was true then this would be another club where he has gone and bounced out without achieving much, becoming a bit too much of a habit for my liking.

09 Aug 2017 12:33:03
Andre gray not coming to wol he's signing for Watford Edwards price batth should b sold they were utter tosh we always seem to have trouble with the lower teams breaking them down they seem to frustrate us if we don't get an early goal or 2 we struggle.

10 Aug 2017 08:17:58
I disagree with what people are saying about Batth Price Edwards

Last season they were some of our best players I think people have got too much of a taste for exotic players from Portugal and Brazil.
