Yes, but we do need a couple of defenders. What probably swung it for Ward and Zubar is their ability as overlapping full-backs and I rate them in that role. Unfortunately, the basic criterion for a full-back is the ability to defend and in this respect they are weak: easily turned, suspect in the tackle and often out of position.

Looks like Whelan is a possible and that looks sensible.As far as defenders go, seems SS is happy and to honest at this level i agree.
Hunt / Berra and co will probably go on loans once the window open,followed by permanents in Jan.
De Vries looks like he is staying at least until Jan when Hennessy will be back.
As i keep saying, if we are there or there abouts in January then we will have cash and will look more attractive to quality players.
As far as the new look squad goes we have sold players for good money and replaced them with fresh faces who are cheaper an look really exciting.We also have a group of young players ( Forde/Baath etc) who will now get a chance.
Well done SS & Moxey i say, they seem to have developed a sensible plan and executed it well. {Ed011's Note - Well said!!

Frimpong and Doumbia would be unstoppable in midfield. Have to say out of the new signings I'm most concerned about Nouble - can't seem to pick out a pass and has a pretty awful touch. I'd also like to see Wolves try to play out of defence rather than kick and run.

I can really see Whelan deal going through now as stoke have signed Charlie Adam and they signed Geoff Cameron earlier in the transfer window and stoke have made an enquiry to Liverpool for Jordan Henderson on loan according to ssn so that could happen {Ed011's Note - They're also chasing Blackburn's N'Zonzi.

If you saw what happened BEFORE Doumbia came on the pitch last night you'd realise why we need Midfield cover. Should Doumbia be unavailable we'd look very thin in central midfield, and we can't guarantee that O'Hara's going to be back and firing on all cylinders before Christmas.........
Don't forget Ward can play anywhere in midfield ;-)

Stale has said he will try to sign ONE more player today. I personally hope it's a fullback. Got enough strikers let them prove themselves. I'm an avid believer in leading from the front and Doyle+Siggy can definitely do that. Not too sure about SEB yet, needs to trim down! I'm also an avid believer in "you're only as strong as your weakest player". For me that has got to be either Ward, Stearman or Elokobi. Not gonna be upset if Stale can't manage to bring in another defender think he's gonna do wonders if the signings he's already made are anything to go by!
