Everyone doubting the move for Bonatini. He was being watched by Man City not long ago. Roberto Manchini nearly signed him. So could be really shrewd move by Wolves.

02 Aug 2017 18:17:05
My concern is he apparently only played 18 games last season, we don't know how match fit he is, and we don't know how he'll adapt to the Championship. I'm really glad we signed him, think he has great potential, but we don't have any idea yet how it will work out.

02 Aug 2017 19:36:41
How many other options do we have before kick off? As it stands currently? That's the problem. I think the boro game has got nil-nil written all over it. A lot of boro fans are predicting a draw too. Let's see what next week holds. I'm sure Nuno and Co are working at it.

02 Aug 2017 19:58:48
Wlvs82.that was 5 years ago.
What I've read about him now is that he's not really anything outstanding.
Not that fast
Not that strong
Not that skilful
Etc etc.
Hopefully he's a decent all rounder because I don't think he excels in any one area.

Can't believe Nuno and Fuson would sign 12 players that improve the team in every area and neglect the forwards.

02 Aug 2017 20:32:26
Thing is ed its a skillful team now any striker that's got an eye for goal will be and should be in the box and I think leo will be he's got a shot like a hammer and he looks like a poacher to say he's unskillful defies the video on youtube nuno seems to know what he's doing with the signings and I think leo could be a shrewd acquisition time will tell roll on saturday.

02 Aug 2017 21:41:52
Ulf u seem negative about him for some reason. he'll definitely come good mate👌.

02 Aug 2017 21:43:17
2-1 Wolves . after we go 1-0 down 👍👌.

02 Aug 2017 22:33:07
It's not about 1 game. I'm sure nuno will have had him looked at and will get him into the style of play he wants and with 29000 fans backing him he may well score a trick lol. W A W.

02 Aug 2017 23:55:12
I'm not negative about Bonatini, I think he could be excellent. But we don't know yet, he may take a while to adjust, and even if he hits the ground running, we still need more depth for the season. These first few games could turn out to be promotion critical points by the end of the season, it's a risk not getting the extra striker we obviously need sometime, asap.

03 Aug 2017 23:46:52
Edthe - as Nuno said we haven’t necessarily finished in the market, the fact is every club in the country wants a 20 goal striker which is why they are SO hard to get and SO expensive. That also means the best ones can take longer get in as the top targets will be waiting / hoping for a Prem call before looking at us.

Sure we could sign a striker tomorrow but maybe that one with real quality that we all want will take just that bit longer, it’s a pain but let’s be honest think the window so far has been VERY positive so let’s focus on that and judge the success of the window on Sept 1st ;)

02 Aug 2017 14:57:42
Being linked with Rudy Guestede.

02 Aug 2017 15:55:40
Where are we being linked? Football league world are only suggesting he could 'do a job 'for us but I haven't seen anything suggesting we are looking to buy him.

02 Aug 2017 16:26:56
We've acquired some very good quality. However, where we really need it at the front, we all still wait with baited breath. for this area of our team has been lacking quality for so long now it has frustrated all us Fans I think and has been demonstrated by the results and mid table finish. I really hope after all the investment made so far in the team the striking end is left or we bring in mediocrity! Fingers crossed then moving forward. I'm sure God Bless will want the best he can get. Abul Hernandez has a goal in him, but looks like he's off to the Vile. Shame!

⚽️👍😉.

02 Aug 2017 17:27:00
Perhaps we should start pretending Diego Costa is going to come on loan until he goes to Atletico at Christmas, and he's going to fill in and make promotion such a cert, we'll spend big in winter window to replace him, buy Afobe and Gray to make absolutely sure.

We could pretend that for weeks, it would help to pacify till we saw how the season was going. Maybe Bonatini is going to be a star.

03 Aug 2017 06:49:59
You've just taken 15 points of us for breaking ffp ( in fosun we must trust) , I think they are building for the future, if promotion comes this year it's a bonus but I will snatch your hand of if it was this year or next!

02 Aug 2017 01:10:53
A google search for Andre Gray news pulls up an inside futball article, that claims according to the BBC, Wolves have ruled themselves out of pursuing Andre Gray as he's too expensive, and are switching attention to Sam Gallagher.

Surely rumours can't be that easy. I wonder if they mean the real BBC or it's some kid called Benjamin Brian Codswallop on twitter.

02 Aug 2017 01:53:17
I'm not a fan of Sam Gallagher personally so let's hope it's just hear say.

02 Aug 2017 05:56:53
Gallagher is a real prospect, reason Southampton have given him a new deal and they should know what a real prospect looks like. Like our own real prospect Nial Ennis, Gallagher's development interrupted by long injury lay. off. Good in the air, strong hold up play and deceptively quic. I think he would be a real asset but whether or not we are willing to wait until the end of the window for him is probably Nuno's call and it looks like he wants all incomings sorted prior to kick off.

02 Aug 2017 07:52:12
Scottish Wolf, like you I also believe Gallagher be a great signing as he offers something very different to our existing striking options. But Wolves insider seems to think the loan offer has been withdrawn. From other reading it seems that their transfer activity has got caught up in takeover red tape. Having sold Rodriguez and with injury questions over Long Austin and Gabbiadini they need another striker. Until that is sorted they are reluctant to let Gallagher go. This one could drag out for a while yet.

02 Aug 2017 08:41:20
Personally don't think a move for Gray would be wise for both the club or player. We'll known fact that Andre is a former gang member from Whitmore Reans, fair play to him for moving on with his life and career but coming home? Not so sure. Patrick Bamford would be ideal for us I feel.

02 Aug 2017 09:40:05
Who ever we do sign I hope its a permanent signing and not another loan.

02 Aug 2017 10:42:07
I'm getting depressed about this now. It wouldn't matter if we were just having a good go this season, obviously we're in with a chance of promotion, like anyone is. But without a decent striker who can go a full season, this isn't the stuff of promotion which is what Fosun stated the objective is.

This is beginning to look like it's going to fall short.

02 Aug 2017 11:22:21
Christ, Ulf you are very nagative and depressing, 99% of wolves fans are excited by the project at the moment, who knows this Leo bloke could end up being that "Decent Striker". Dicko is also a 15 goal a season striker when fully fit. Chill out a bit and enjoy the ride. Fosuns target was actually promotion within 3 years, was it not? That means a good push this season and promotion next season?

02 Aug 2017 11:36:00
I think Leo could be great, but he needs to adjust to the Championship, and apparently he only played 18 games last season.

If we don't get promoted this season, we'll have little to build on, most of the players will be getting sold to Prem. Neves didn't sign to play in the Chump for 2 yrs etc. Which makes this season a golden opportunity, before they move on.

I don't mind us not being full on for promotion this year or just hoping for it as an outside chance, but then it wasn't me that said we were going full on for promotion, it was Fosun.

Maybe Gallagher would be good enough, I don't know, but it's uncertain he's available, and it may not be till end of August. That's a big chunk of the season gone without an up to speed striker, which we've not had since they sold Afobe Dec 2015.

02 Aug 2017 11:44:34
Fall short, before we even kick a bloody ball? Lighten up Ulf. How can anyone be depressed with what Nuno has achieved so far? I know you're not a Baggie as you're all over Wolves sites, but keep a sense of proportion man.

02 Aug 2017 11:55:44
I don't know yet what Nuno has achieved, the Leicester game isn't a measure, they were way off the pace and gave us more time and space than we'll get in the Championship. At the moment, till it's proved itself in the Championship, it's still only talk.

And you can lose it in early season, what happened to us in 2015-16 when we didn't get Afobe till Christmas, and despite having Championship winning form from that point, were too far behind to catch up. It's frustrating, because for the rest of team we may be just a quality Champ striker short of completely romping it.

02 Aug 2017 12:01:04
It is all relative.

After the dark days of the Scouse Scally, how could any Wolves fan not feel the world has changed dramatically for the Club.
It is refreshing to have Owners showing a positive approach to the playing side.
Yes, last year was a bad year, trying to fuse mainly 1st Division standard players, with some quality new Signings. not good.
This summer, most of those Journeymen have been moved out and some exciting additions brought in.
The squad now looks leaner and full of quality.
The concern about Strikers is fair, but it is being addressed and also you now have a midfield/ wingers capable of scoring plenty.
So reasons to be cheerful!

02 Aug 2017 12:28:30
Well said Ruge. I cannot get the Ulf's negative vibes. Compared to recent history we should be thankful that someone saw some value and strength at Wolves to invest in. Fosun are like Christmas every day. Would Ulf's be happy to go back 2 yeas?

02 Aug 2017 12:48:09
Either way we will reach the promised land again sooner rather than later. Reason being what jeff, mendes and fosun will do is simple yet so shrewd and effective. If it ain't this season and our star players want to leave then one they're sold for massive profit. Secondly we repeat the process time and time again till we get where we want to be. We take players from mendes conveyor belt again and again till we get promoted. Will never have to worry like villa are at the moment like blowing their budget last season as we can loan to buy aswell. If some players don't work out then they go back to their parent clubs at no loss to us at all. I know whos plan and model I would want and it definetely ain't villas or tony xias.
KEEP THE FAITH, BELIEVE . once were in the premiership then wolves will up their game big time just like the elite have.

02 Aug 2017 12:51:35
I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. Which is significant for me because I'm normally a happy clapper. It was reading the Middlesbrough forum thread about our coming game that did it, it brought me back down to earth.

I think our team has so much quality it has the potential to run away with division, if it wasn't bottle necked at the striker. I doubt we'll have Neves or Jota next year, or maybe even Costa if we don't get promoted, I want us to make the most of the opportunity this season. I think like Bournemouth broke FFP to get promoted, you have to take a few risks - and not like Morgan, that we might have enough, but like Bournemouth, making sure you do have enough.

02 Aug 2017 13:08:32
Re out of darkness and replacing great prospects like Neves as they move on so we can keep trying, I agree it's a great model in principle, but these players don't come along often, like Afobe demonstrates, there's no young players about like him at the moment. Maybe next time there is, there'll then be a lack of a player like Neves? We'd be very lucky to see all the development players we need at the same age / stage of their career available in the same season.

So we'll still have to mix it with established and expensive players, like I want them to this season with a striker. But I guess over time, by trading players like Neves, we may create profit and a FFP advantage that would allow us to keep spending bigger so we're better able to do that in future seasons.

02 Aug 2017 13:21:49
Ulf mendes has hundreds of players mate to help the wolves project. Also what fosun are doing is targeting players that are assets to atleast sell on if the worst comes to the worst ie the player wants to leave or we don't get promoted. How much would we generate if costa, neves and cavaleiro were to be sold? . Enough to repeat the process again with the same quality or better if we were to buy players. Also not forgetting mixing in loans aswell. Look into how watford did it, that was only via udinese helping. Our project is way bigger and better.

02 Aug 2017 13:24:52
All the players like Neves if he goes next summer for 20m it will sort out our FFP and most of the other signings are young and will be worth more in a years time.

02 Aug 2017 13:31:25
It's not a bad model, if each season we showcase and trade on flash players, make profit and build a big advantage in FFP that within a couple of seasons could allow us to throw the kitchen sink at it and buy the league. It would be the club growing and gaining value on it's way to the top, very professional, but measured and will need some patience from us.

02 Aug 2017 13:48:16
Spot on ulf. So glad we have fosun and not the doctor in the suburb of bham. He threw the kitchen sink at it last season and now bruce can't even manage to buy batth even if they wanted him as they have to sell first lol.

02 Aug 2017 13:55:19
Also if you look at Norwich they made £100m in the prem but only £50 in the championship so when we get up there we can afford a few more big names but like this batch must be young we can't afford too many past their prime.

02 Aug 2017 14:02:17
We are a team that understands how players on high wages past their best days can kill a club so we know the type of player we need to avoid.

02 Aug 2017 14:17:52
The way some of you lot go on it's like you actually believe what you think is of importance.

02 Aug 2017 14:59:19
Ulf,

You are typical of some wolves fans who will say "i told you so" and "same old bl**dy wolves" should wolves not deliver on the hopes.

Lifes too short . Enjoy the ride my friend, think a little less about what we may need and what you think is missing . and go with it .

Look at Karl and what he's facing and fighting . you never know what's around the corner .

02 Aug 2017 17:52:00
Bang on. ever play we Get its now for a mf. get him. now for a left back. get him you no the rest . Just chill . been here just a year. some are fans ate off there heads.3 year plan remember.4 weeks left in this window 'I see a couple go in and maybe some in. but there's a nothing window to come so like I say chill.

02 Aug 2017 19:19:02
I get Costa and Neves, if it doesn't work out we can sell, make a profit, roll that back into FFP to get bigger budget next time. But that doesn't work for loans like Boly, Jota or maybe Bonatini, if we don't go up they'll have just been a loss in wages and loan fees.

Maybe Bonatini is up to speed and the club just don't think they need a big money striker, otherwise, it still doesn't make sense, putting such a good team together but not nailing that last position.

02 Aug 2017 20:41:20
Having been reading rumours and posts on here for the last month or so I've made the jump, signed up and am making my first post. can't wait for the new season now. Absolutely buzzin for the sound of that first whistle. Can't understand all the gloom and doom I read. Champions league manager. Full molineux. Costa, cav, jota, boly, neves, Miranda etc etc. Now a striker who regardless of where his previous employment was has a one in two ratio. Excellent training facilities. Promising youth coming through. I for one cannot understand all this talk of edgy this and urban that. Absolute rubbish. We have a bit of a reputation for having fickle fans and certain people just contribute to this. For god sake just get behind the team and just support. We haven't even kicked off yet. Probably going to get banned for this on my first post but some people just get your blood boiling.

02 Aug 2017 21:00:39
Welcome elegantwolf, excellent 1st post 👍👏.

02 Aug 2017 21:17:37
Hi Elegantwolf :-)

I haven’t been complaining just pointing things out, and after debating with other posters here have ended up on a positive note with everything. Except I do think they should make the effort for Afobe asap.

I’m not shocked into awe over what Fosun are doing though because I never doubted Wolves were going to be bought by someone super rich and made quality and massive, precisely because of our identity and its brand potential. Been saying it since Morgan decided to sell. M&M just had it completely wrong, I do wonder if Thelwell fails to get it too because of them.

But, we have a Brazilian striker lol :-)

02 Aug 2017 00:46:13
My understanding is that our second striker signing will be a UK based one. Names I'm hearing currently are Ashley Barnes, Nakhi Wells and Danny Ings. The likes of Afobe and Gray are non starters.

02 Aug 2017 10:17:17
Danny ings I'd be delighted with Jonzy!

{Ed047's Note - That would be a very good move as he would join on loan, knows where the goal is and works very hard for the team, but he has been out for nearly 2 years injured but has been working hard all summer to get match fit i would certainly take him if i were Nuno.}

02 Aug 2017 10:40:36
I agree Ed. of all the names discussed, Ings would be my choice.

{Ed047's Note - He wont play much at Liverpool this season so a loan makes sense as he will play and hopefully stay match fit, he will score goals and fit in with the system, it will cost peanuts to loan him and he is proven.}

02 aug 2017 10:48:13
barnes and wells are 27 and would surely be dead money, and ings is rehabilitating from serious injury and surely not up to a full season.

without a serious striker this isn’t the stuff of promotion, we look more like a team showcasing talent to be sold on into the prem.

{Ed047's Note - Ings would be a good choice he has only had 1 weeks holiday as he has been training very hard and getting match fit at Melwood all summer, yes a full season might be harsh on him but hes a professional and im sure he will be fine, to me its simple loan him but play him in the league only to concentrate on promotion.}

02 Aug 2017 11:02:43
It would be great if he is fit and up to it, but reports yesterday said:

"The S*n hint the fact Ings has undergone surgery could be an issue too. Liverpool may want him to continue his rehabilitation at Melwood rather than pushing himself too far elsewhere".

02 Aug 2017 14:18:53
Ings only just back in the gym so he's going nowhere.

02 Aug 2017 15:49:37
Ings no chance not worth the risk I won't naki Wells not injured and can score goals especially with the service he would get Mark my words if we go for him UTW.

02 Aug 2017 17:52:01
Just read Wells undergoing ankle surgery do apologise errrrrrrrr ings it is thn😂😂😂😂😂.

01 Aug 2017 23:39:50
Been reported from a so called football agent itk that wolves bid £18.5m for Gray now seeing as was reported other day wolves thought £20m was to much not sure why 18.5 meant be more reasonable also the ed seems have more itk on him than most on here and he said Gray interested but wanted stay in prem or something along those lines so as with all things fosun we will only know once deal been done -now nuno says Leo in team sat so don't worry on his fitness because Saudi leg runs pretty much same as us so he had a pre season.

02 Aug 2017 01:33:11
Surely Wolves would get Afobe for that and he's 2 years younger. HITC suggesting Villa go for him now. If he'd come I wish they'd got Afobe.

02 Aug 2017 01:54:03
Better of going for Abel Hernandez.

02 Aug 2017 10:10:16
Villa got move lot players out to get afobe Bruce said as much on sky last night " we got ffp constraints so need wheel n deal " so won't happen imo.

02 Aug 2017 11:03:09
I agree with that W4L. For me, although he scored a beaut, Ivan Cavaleiro was very wasteful on Saturday and Hernandez wouldn't be. Then I'd start Jordan Graham on the right wing every day of the week.

02 Aug 2017 11:07:48
He scored 20 goals in 39 games in Hull's championship promotion year. Even if we're only taking that potential away from our championship rivals surely it's worth talking a punt!

02 Aug 2017 14:19:42
Why does everyone want a one season wonder sell out back?
