QPR agree £1.75m fee with anderlecht for striker idrissa sylla

29 Aug 2016 20:16:36
Looks like we dodged a bullet then.

29 Aug 2016 20:55:28
And we were going to pay 5million.

29 Aug 2016 21:09:28
Didn't we bid £6 million?

29 Aug 2016 21:16:00
I think the rumours of us offering mega bucks is agents trying to push up fees! Let's face it we've been associated with everyone and the players not mentioned have signed. I think it's the ones we aren't signing are the ones we hear about.

29 Aug 2016 21:23:03
Haha'no chance we wouldn't have bid as much as qpr, hence him going there.

29 Aug 2016 21:24:46
Money isn't exactly a issue though.

29 Aug 2016 21:55:03
If we had bid 2 MIL he would be here talking to us, money talks, no way would a 5,6 MIL offer be turned away in favour of a 1.75 MIL offer.

29 Aug 2016 22:19:19
According to Twitter, we have signed N Bendtner after meeting up with him today and will be unveiled tomorrow. He chose us over QPR. Don't know how true this is, or if it means the end of the Martin transfer.

29 Aug 2016 23:10:09
I can't find anything on twitter about us signing Bentner on twitter. The only wolves he speaks about is Wolfsburg. We should have gone for Gyan, not only free but a 20 goal a season man with strength and pace.

30 Aug 2016 00:43:54
The Ivan Cavaliero link is coming up again with his wife writing something about him joining us again. He is definitely leaving Monaco and it looks like us or Sheff Wed. He's a Mendes player and all set up for him to join the party over the next couple of days. Only problem is we have 3 left sided wingers already; Costa, John and Graham. They are talking about a permanent £10m transfer, not a loan.

30 Aug 2016 08:10:58
He can also play Striker and a Central midfielder as well.

30 Aug 2016 09:46:35
I hope they dump the Martin idea and sign up Cavaliero instead. Adaptable forwards are what we need, not a big lump like Martin.

30 Aug 2016 09:55:27
Potential front 3?
Cavaliero* - JDB - Costa

Back up:
Mason - Martin*/ Rhodes* - Dicko

The back up frontline is proven at Championship level and will still get the goals.

Oh and we still have John, Graham, Zyro in the squad ready to add competition for places. Happy days.

30 Aug 2016 09:59:41
Totally agree wavid, what we need is mobility and pace upfront.
Martin is overpriced, overweight and overrated.

30 Aug 2016 10:10:17
Agree with that 1877. 👍Cavaliero and Rhodes it is then👍.

30 Aug 2016 10:10:28
Don't know why people go on about the striker shortage. Costa, John, Teixeira can all play up front if it ever became a problem. Personally, I'd be very happy with Cavaliero and Harrison Reed to complete the midfield, but I'm still concerned at no central defender. There must be one out there somewhere? Maybe should have bought Duffy last week.

30 Aug 2016 10:18:18
Idrissa Sylla was a target back in the Jackett/ Morgan/ Moxey days. We enquired about him in January when Afobe left. We enquired again earlier in the Summer. As soon as the takeover went through a player of Sylla's ability was no longer on our agenda as we are now fishing in a far better pool.

30 Aug 2016 10:32:22
Forgotten about Gladon already then 1877.Sorry to disappoint you folks, but no one of real premiership quality is going to be heading Molinuex way.
We now have 2 big centre forwards plus Zyro when fit so you can also forget Martin and Rhodes as they come from similar moulds and do not fit Fosun's price range either. I'd imagine they will be introducing a new No5 next. Loan or £2 million max.

30 Aug 2016 10:33:51
Cavaleiro and Rhodes will formidable Saiss should b signing 2day I might b wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get anybody else.

30 Aug 2016 11:16:00
Old wolf I think you have a point there with sighnings don't seam to pay a lot for players of what we thought they would pay, seam 2 million is the going rate also sighning players we now nothing about, but AY it's still better than last year and they could surprise we before window closes and sighn a couple of class players, but if they don't let's still get behind team and be positive we still have enough skill there to finish in top 6 if he gives the new players game time, I am fed up of saying it, playing that team that played first half against Huddersfield was not good enough midfield non existent they have to be dropped not good enough price and Iorfa need to be taken out as well and put on bench, the stats first half showed that we only had 25 per cent posession not good enough.

30 Aug 2016 11:26:26
I've heard that were looking at Cleber from Hamburg as the new centre back that were linked too.
We have also been linked to Ewerton from Sporting. I believe Saiss can also play Centre back so maybe the signings should be.

Saiss
Cleber/ Ewerton/ Mawson (unless he goes to Swansea)
Bjansson (is this right spelling? )
Calverio.

30 Aug 2016 11:38:22
Iorfa and hause back in eng u 21s squad very lucky considering there displays from last season and this so far also Patrick bamford gone 2 burnley season long loan linked with us at some stage.

30 Aug 2016 14:06:37
Lest hope a spell with the England U23's can re motivate and kick start Iorfa and Hause's season.

30 Aug 2016 15:43:44
Old Wulf - apologies for missing Gladon out. With that many signings I totally forget about him and sadly I also know nothing about his ability.

Cavaliero is very highly rated, and for me, slots in on the right wing nicely. Far better than any Mason/ Wallace/ Henry.

Martin and Rhodes I've seen first hand and they always seem to grab a goal against Wolves too. I hope Gladon turns out to be another bargain like JDB and that way we don't need to buy another striker. However there seems to be a lot of talk about offers for Rhodes and Martin on the table, so we must all wait and see?!

With every positional target there is a Plan B and Plan C. Maybe even a Plan D!

Just speculating.

RW - Plan A -Cavaliero, Plan B - Albert Adomah and also remember we hate late interest in Yeni Ngbakoto (Now of QPR)

ST -Plan A- Rhodes, Plan B - Martin, Plan C - Assombalonga / Wells?

CB - Plan A Willy Boly (Declined move), Plan B - Lusiao (Offer maybe still on the table), Plan C - Alfie Mawson (Gone to Swansea), and then there's Shane Duffy who've we've been linked with.

29 Aug 2016 19:24:37
QPR allegedly agree a fee of £1.75 for Sylla

29 Aug 2016 17:36:12
See we are being linked with Harrison Reed on loan - good player but not sure we need another central midfielder unless we're going to play Saiss and Prince in defence (which they can play but look better in midfield) .

29 Aug 2016 18:16:36
So much for the bookies saying we were favourites to land Louis Alberto. Just about to go Lazio and I thought he favoured a move back to Spain.

29 Aug 2016 18:44:23
I reckon we could have got Alberto and it's the same story with Bjarnason who's available for £5 million, Darbo. I'm really not sure why the club are so hesitant in spending money if they are serious about getting into the Premier league this year. They will fall short due to those sorts of decisions.

29 Aug 2016 18:55:19
Never believed the Alberto link anyway. I'm sure there'll be new faces but they're not likely to be ones mentioned in 'links' or players that are good on FIFA.

29 Aug 2016 19:02:56
No doubt they thought the same about Sako who was available for £6 million. They obviously decided to save money and bring O John in on a freebie instead. Very strange from a company supposedly worth £50 billion.

29 Aug 2016 20:55:10
Not strange at all Wavidsmith because Wolves are just one of dozens of acquisitions made by Fosun over the past two years. My assessment is that they have ringfenced an amount to pump into club funds for player purchases/ loans and wages and this is perhaps evidenced by the amounts being spent to date which have been in the range of up to £2 million or so.
To my mind some of the players mentioned on this site have been laughable because there is no chance of a quality player demeaning himself (in his or his agents minds;not my view you understand) by playing for a championship club. Perhaps we could attract a quality player coming to the end of his career but that's a very dangerous game because for every Paul Ince there's a Tony Daley, Geoff Thomas, Darren Anderton, etc. No way will Fosun want to be the Chinese version of Sir Jack's golden tit
They are far too savvy for that!

29 Aug 2016 22:03:15
Well said Old Wulf.

29 Aug 2016 23:51:12
We aren't just an investment acquisition of Fosun's, we've been bought because we're a perfect fit with Chinese corporate / enterprising wolf culture which is what they're all about, and as a leading champion identity of their entire group, in China and to rest of the World. They're not investing to sell us on, they intend for us to be a success for themselves and representative of them.

But because it's all about being enterprising and shrewd, like wolves, they'll do stuff carefully, it's a survival of the fittest thing, they mean for us to be fit and real not fat and spoiled. They do mean though for us to be a proper success.

30 Aug 2016 07:50:33
I don't disagree with what you say Ulf but in terms of monetary investment into the Wolves, Fosun will clearly not be throwing the cash around like confetti which is what some contributors seem to be hoping for. Shrewd sums it up aptly and the bulk of the names being mentioned would not fall into the shrewd category. Also they clearly have set limits for expenditure otherwise we wouldn't be seeing so many cheaper end of the market or loan deals.

30 Aug 2016 12:20:40
Shrewd is the key word that a few of you have already mentioned. They stated from the outset that 20 - 30 million would be their target spend for the first 2 years - more if needed, and to be fair they are currently sticking to their word. They have a business plan and that doesn't involve flinging ludicrous amounts of cash around on players that, if they're worth the values being spoken about would NOT be plying their trade in the championship. If this business plan works and we are lucky enough to be promoted over the next two years THEN we can expect to see the arrival of ludicrously priced players - but even then I believe they are too shrewd to be taken for mugs.

29 Aug 2016 17:34:33
Wolves have gone in with a second bid for derbys chris martin around £8.5 million fulham also interested to replace mcormack they bid £6 million.

29 Aug 2016 19:53:37
Second bid for Martin been rejected.

29 Aug 2016 21:33:01
We would be wasting our time and money on him.

29 Aug 2016 21:55:21
Derby still deciding whether to accept the second bid decision tomorrow.

29 Aug 2016 16:14:50
Great if the news that Saiss has signed is true. Chris Martin? - overpriced at £7m and not sure another striker is needed at this stage, Bodvarson, Gladon, Dicko, Mason, Enobakhare and Ennis seems enough to me.
Go get an experience central defender.

29 Aug 2016 16:41:43
Come on man. of course we need another striker. We're raving bonkers if we rely on Dicko being fit enough. plus beyond that we only have Bod who will score goals.

29 Aug 2016 16:59:10
WIZ as I decided to call him, i.e the boss/ manager is right to bid for him, and another quality target man if he can! It's a long season and if we get too many injuries we are stuffed. Go for it big time! Rhodes would be a good target man as well. We need options and lots of them. Tried and tested is good. 😀😀.

29 Aug 2016 16:59:30
Wolabby - I disagree, Enobakhare and Ennis aren't ready yet if they play more than 5 championship matches this season I'll be surprised (I actually doubt they'll play any other than maybe for experience at end of the season if nothing left to aim for) . I also think we need a pacey forward instead of or as cover for Dicko (chris martin is obv not this person as he's more like Bodvarson/ Gladon) .
So basically I'd like another forward and at least one central defender (although it's possible to play Borthwick-Jackson there or full back) .

29 Aug 2016 17:34:11
I agree we need another striker but I think I Jordan Rhodes better option looking at martins scoring rate doesn't look that gr8t we looking at Harrison reed soton midfielder on loan he's only 20.

29 Aug 2016 17:52:57
Martin been derby's top scorer for 3 seasons.

29 Aug 2016 17:53:23
Er hello. Joe Mason has scored 3 goal so far this season. Shouldn't he be given a chance seeing how everyone seems to think Bodvarsson is the better player but has scored less. Just a thought.

29 Aug 2016 18:14:41
Wish people would stop thinking about Mason getting 20 goals a season 'cos it will never happen. All he ever does when he gets the ball is turn backwards and pass it AWAY from the goal. I've seen him squander so many opportunities for the team from this and makes me tear my hair out.

29 Aug 2016 18:58:41
Think you lot have being playing fifa manager on psp to long saying who we need when your in charge then say who we can and who we can not buy.

29 Aug 2016 19:59:30
Wavid, if all Mason does is play the ball backwards he ain't doing too bad a job seeing as he's our top scorer above Bodvarsson.

29 Aug 2016 20:23:01
Wolabby, a goal scorer 20+ is imperative to getting out of this decision imo.

29 Aug 2016 22:56:02
I want Dunk from Brighton as a center half. I don't care how much we pay for him.

29 Aug 2016 15:36:42
Saiss all signed just waiting for club to anounce guys.

29 Aug 2016 16:05:06
Is he all signed though? I'll believe it when I see it.

29 Aug 2016 16:48:29
100% got a pic of him in hotel with a lad who stoping there after wedding yesderday. but don't no how 2 up load here?

29 Aug 2016 17:18:07
Dappa you can upload on sightings site at the top.

29 Aug 2016 18:00:22
still no announcement.

29 Aug 2016 14:45:21
Fulham and Wolves have submitted bids for Derby striker Chris Martin, according to Sky sources.

29 Aug 2016 15:30:35
£7 million reported by Sky, a nice sensible price. I am confident Fulham have little chance in gaining his services as he won't want to re-locate. Wolves would be a perfect choice, if he did decide to leave the Rams.

29 Aug 2016 15:37:49
Would love to see martin in a wolves shirt.

29 Aug 2016 15:57:52
Our bid was rejected.

29 Aug 2016 16:02:55
Derby want £8m. Just offer it them, Jeff and stop messing around.

29 Aug 2016 16:05:40
The E&S article is contradictory. The headline says the bid is rejected but the article says that it is being considered.

29 Aug 2016 16:05:44
The London factor will sway it in Fulham's favour sadly.

29 Aug 2016 16:12:23
No. no. no. overweight slow can't get in derby team and fans glad to see back of him. if we need to spend big on a forward need someone with pace. we have already signed 2 target men. and we need a CB as a priority.

29 Aug 2016 16:57:51
Agree 100% with Sedgeley Pete. We need another Dicko type - electric pace, someone who can run in behind defences - as we already have two big target men in Bodvarsson and Gladon. Chuba Akpom from Arsenal - that type of player.

29 Aug 2016 17:01:26
Summer-wolf, Chrs Martin would prefer to stay local rather than have to move his family so London factor may work against Fulham.

29 Aug 2016 20:38:05
Assonbalonga please!

29 Aug 2016 21:06:31
Sky sun is in charge of transfers not big Jeff by the way. Sky sun is probably been told who to buy by butti, who seems to be aiming at quality young European based players. I'd be surprised if we get martin/ rhodes after getting gladon last week. Dicko, bodbarvson, gladon, mason and another?

29 Aug 2016 14:21:08
the mort is at Molineux he is the kit man I reckon the big news is on its way.
burton albion be afraid be very afraid.

29 Aug 2016 14:49:32
I know big morts 2 lads.

29 Aug 2016 14:49:57
What

?

29 Aug 2016 15:27:05
Mort is apprentice to Death which doesn't sound like good news.

29 Aug 2016 19:27:44
Morts the kit man .

29 Aug 2016 12:05:50
Is Romain Saiss transfer still definitely on?

29 Aug 2016 12:21:16
He's signed just waiting for confirmation.

29 Aug 2016 12:56:10
Are we expecting an announcement today then? Or will this one drag onto tomorrow or deadline day.

29 Aug 2016 13:18:58
Not sure whenever club feels like announcing it, but it's definitely done.

29 Aug 2016 11:01:40
Signed jack ruddy from bury on 2 year deal with option of another year he will go into the u23 squad now just waiting to see when we will sign romain saiss.

29 Aug 2016 11:16:45
On his way 😉.

29 Aug 2016 11:41:00
Gyan having a medical at reading with shanghai paying his wages. Bit of a no brainer for me. We could have got a fantastic player basically for free! Thoughts?

29 Aug 2016 11:46:59
I don't know enough about Gyan, Pompey, to comment.

29 Aug 2016 11:55:47
Sorry Pompey don't follow who is gyan?

29 Aug 2016 12:07:12
Asamoah Gyan Derbywolf ex Sunderland player.

29 Aug 2016 12:56:24
Was a very good player but didn't last long got home sick I think what was tht player we had tht got home sick defender.

29 Aug 2016 13:19:24
After Saturday first half showing zenga should play all our new signings kjs old squad have had there chance and some should move especially the midfield it was a shambles why was teixeira sub what's gone wrong with iorfa he's making error after error.

29 Aug 2016 13:22:30
Jelle Van Damme.

29 Aug 2016 13:25:54
Jelle van damme.

29 Aug 2016 13:28:03
Jelle van damme. now playing in the states lol.

29 Aug 2016 08:47:07
Saiss and ruddy to sign in the next couple of days.

I must say I'm a little disappointed if that's it.

29 Aug 2016 09:24:12
According 2 express and star sails will sign next couple of days long term contract he's a quality player and jack ruddy 18yrs old been training with wol about 2sign should b more signings 2 follow.

29 Aug 2016 09:37:05
I suppose it's better than signing players we'd regret like Luisao, Bendtner or Van Der Vaart, etc.

29 Aug 2016 10:16:59
RVDV joined FC Midtjylland a few weeks ago.
Wouldn't want Bendtner, since he left Arsenal he's been a League 1 ST at best, also he's been known for having a bad attitude.

29 Aug 2016 10:25:29
i know I shouldn't bring up the stench from across the way but let's hope Pulis carries on the wonderful job he is doing . Continue the exciting football to behold and please the adoring fans .

29 Aug 2016 10:26:40
Makes me smile.

29 Aug 2016 10:31:11
Well one thing I do now is that we should of won Saturday on second half performance but not on the first half, the game was lost first half with that team selection which is down to Zenga and I think he will change is team selections next time after that performance first half, he as given them all a fair chance to prove themselves but they failed badly first half simply not good enough the midfield first half was non existent never got to grips with the game, awful is the best way to describe first half.

29 Aug 2016 11:40:29
I was at the game on Saturday and as you have said 'bigwolf' the first half was awful and the midfield was almost non existent, and overrun by the Huddersfields midfield players. Saville, Edwards and Price was always going to be a recipe for disaster. In my view Saville is hopeless and needs to go, Edwards has lost his legs so has nothing to offer, and Price had a very bad game.

I was very optimistic about Venga, but I must confess I am now a little worried. He says rotation is the way but I wholly disagree with that, except for injuries and maybe cup games. Surely you need to select the best eleven available and in this way you can develop a strong team who get used to playing with each other. Fitness should not be an issue, these are young guys who should easily be able to play 50 games a season if required to do so.

We do seem to have made some good signings who undoubtedly will strengthen the team.

However, we will not be promotion contenders if we set up with a weak team for 45 minutes in the hope that we can then deploy the substitutes and win the game in the second half (which appears to be happening now) . We need the best eleven at the start with the aim of playing full out for 90 minutes. As I said earlier fitness should not be an issue for these young players. If it is then deal with it at the time, by using the substitutes.

29 Aug 2016 11:41:20
The press don't half make stuff up. It's like our scouts going over there to watch Bjarnason and being 'really impressed'. They are so impressed, they haven't even bothered bidding!

29 Aug 2016 11:49:51
Agree FRANKO, rotation is not the way, it's about puttin your best 11 out week after week, fewer changes the better, that's how a team gels and is successful imo.

29 Aug 2016 12:24:33
It is true that if Zenga plans to rotate using Jackett's old mediocre rubbish, we will finish mid table. I presume his first midfield will be Saiss, Onian, Teixeira and Costa or Wallace in a diamond? What is worrying me, though, is the inclusion of Evans, Savile, Price and Henry amongst them. What worries me even more is STILL no new centre half! Iorfa, Batth and Hause are a recipe for disaster. Do Zenga, Mendes and co know this?

29 Aug 2016 12:42:56
Give them till weds 11pm wavidsmith, Big Jeff still has chance to get a couple of quality players in yet.

29 Aug 2016 13:42:45
Agree Paul if not play best eleven and keeps rotating with that first half team at Huddersfield we will not get in top six hope Zenga realises that, still waiting for some experienced championship players instead of a bunch of unknown players on loan although they are reasonable players but at the end of the day they are not going to stay we need a settled side and a couple of class sighnings to cheer us up and then we will now that they mean business, still let's stay positive it's a long season and we have had a decent start.

29 Aug 2016 15:37:48
Ruddy signed 2 year contract with option of further 1.

goo.gl/kMvu8P

29 Aug 2016 19:27:20
Personally I don't mind rotating the team as long as it's a few players rotating per game and we are changing one good player for another and not weakening the team.

I think Zenga has had to show us and Fosun that he has a good formula, he can use different tactics to change a game but most importantly he's tried and tested the current stock of players and the old guard are not good enough.

Thellwell, Edwards and Daley would have been singing Edwards, Saville and Evans's praises so the only way to prove they're not good enough is to show them to the Chinese on the pitch.

29 Aug 2016 09:03:39
Bendtner being linked with advanced talks in the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.

29 Aug 2016 10:06:00
The last time he hit double figures (in league goals) was with Blues in 06/ 07. A legend in his own head and one i'd pass on.

29 Aug 2016 10:19:47
No matter what everyone says, he is a very talented player. If he had the right attitude and wanted to move to wolves to prove himself I'd take him in a heartbeat.

His scoring record for his country is more representative of his ability and if he wasn't that good, why would Wolfsburg (German top 4 team) sign him in the first place.

29 Aug 2016 11:00:48
In the hope he'll prove the doubters wrong and come good. Which he didn't.

29 Aug 2016 00:57:41
Uros Spajic of Tolouse linked with a 3 million euro move. Serbian International CB 23 years old.

29 Aug 2016 03:10:42
Spajic is a great player to be linked to. Him today Eweton yesterday, hopefully we get one soon! I would like someone who is known ish to me anyway.

29 Aug 2016 09:33:14
Spajic can't even get in a struggling Toulouse side at present and has been told to ply his trade elsewhere if he wants to make the Serbia team. Not sure of his quality tbh.

29 Aug 2016 09:50:45
I guess it's all about opinions 😂😂😂.

29 Aug 2016 09:58:51
