It now appears that all but 2 bookmakers have stopped taking bets on who will be the next Wolves manager. Announcement imminent?

They will back open again in the morning, this has been the case every day since the book opened

We are a Joke! The shambles the board has got us in to is embarassing!!

21 Feb 2012 21:33:51
Curbishley will give his answer to the proposal tomorrow.
Fact...

It's a good compromise and one which I think is acceptable.

Whats that smell?

Is it that easy to listen through the wall or look through the keyhole and these private meetings our club officials are having

What is the compromise please

How do u know this surely you are guessing?

The main issue is funding, but also on the retention of players should we be relegated.
He doesn't want a situation where its sell before you buy.
Its a big issue because doyle jarvis and fletcher will be retained if curbishley agrees

I woudlnt say we'll know by tomorrow, but right!

Brighton Chauffeur: why are u still banging on about Alan Curbishley? He does not want the gig at yours and Moxey/ Morgan have moved on in the search. As I stated earlier u will have your new boss on thurs with his assistant! I've had a £500 on Poyet at the bookies and 4/1 will pay very nicely for my holiday!!

How did you work that out sherlock?

Brighton driver you should have waited to invest your money
You can get 10/1 now poyet as gone
right out

Methinks brighton chauffeur is a bookie!

Seems to be a correlation between certain posts here and price movements on Betfair. Is that even legal? {Ed001's Note - not sure what you mean mate? Can you explain?}

Poyet! All day long

Didn't mean to alarm you Ed. Thinking about betting and sport, Pakistan cricketers etc. We don't know who is spreading rumours and what bets they have on. They could be in the business. But that's not anything to do with your site. {Ed001's Note - ok, I understand now, sorry I thought you had spotted something in particular. We do have a lot of problems with Skybet trying to advertise for free on the sites, they are constantly trying to post them. So it obviously is seen as possible to affect the betting markets through them.}

21 Feb 2012 19:45:06
ed. any idea who and when wolves new manager will be really had enough of it now some truth please {Ed001's Note - could be any time now.}

Ed- who do you think it will be? {Ed001's Note - I thought all along Curbishley, he was first choice and he wanted the job. I know negotiations haven't gone quickly and smoothly, but I still expect him to end up taking charge.}

He is also having re negotiations THIS really is last chance saloon for wolves - They have been told that....

I did tell you Curbs hadn't shut the door.

Ed. I really think ray Wilkins has so much to offer do you not think he could be appointed as part of management team or even manager ? {Ed001's Note - as a number 2 he is excellent, I don't feel he is a manager though.}

Ed 001, that's an interesting take on Curbs, you're saying he's still in the frame and possible pole position? Any ideas on the stumbling blocks - is it the 2 1/2 year deal which would commit him to the Champo should we go down, or Director of Football and capped transfer funds possibly cramping his freedom to act in this area or all of the above? Or are we missing something else? {Ed001's Note - the director of football and transfer funds seem to be the main issues.}

I for one would be disappointed if we decided to bring in a director of football over an experienced manager. We have never worked like this before, they are rare to see in the English game and when they do, they hardly ever maintain a good working relationship with a manager

Curbs was offered the job with a 2 and half year deal but turned it downed cos he wanted a 13 game deal so he could if we went down ,,thats off radio WM

If we're having a director of football does that mean we have to start playing football to accommodate him? Yippee!

Edd on a scale of 1-10 how likely do you think it is that curbishly will be appointed? {Ed001's Note - personally I would never say anything was a 10, but I would still put Curbs at 8 to take over, maybe 8.5. A few days ago I would have said 9.99, but it is taking so long it begins to seem less likely.}

It was said on radio wm on the show with david kelly at 6pm and a fan confirmed it

21 Feb 2012 19:43:11
The bookies are all shortening their odds on Curbishley. He's the only one with odds falling. They know something

Means nothing, meetings are ongoing

Curbs odds haven't changed in last 3 hours - told he is still in london

Betting has gone up and down on a few names over the last week.

Curbs is still fans' favourite seemingly. Wondering why M+M are trying to find a manager to fit their rules rather than making the rules work around the best manager.

21 Feb 2012 19:41:28
Ray Wilkins not commentating on Sky tonight, what could this mean?

He has the night of? dah dah dahhhh!

Because he is at a secret location being interviewed by moxey and morgan

Because he's not Patrick Moore.

Wilkins at the chelsea game

He is at the chelsea game, i heard him on talk sport earlier.

Ha ha the Patrick Moore one made me laugh - took 5 minutes for the Missus to get it though.... {Ed001's Note - funny you should say that, my daughter's mother came over to pick up the little 'un and read that very same post. I ended up having to explain it to her in the end.}

Thanks Ed - does she want a 13 game deal? {Ed001's Note - I doubt anyone could put up with her for that long!}

21 Feb 2012 19:36:08
Its between Curbs and keane now.
Curbs is prefered.

21 Feb 2012 18:11:51
Just driven down Waterloo Road and a bald bloke in a Merc pulled into Molinuex. Looked like Mcdermott to me!

Curbishley with a wig

McDermott drives a m5 Beemer so it ay him kidda

You sure it wasn't coco the clown..........

Or Wilkins?

It could have been Kojack......

Maybe it was Wilkins?

Or Holloway, or Benitez from a side angle in a dim light, or Steve Coppell, or Di Matteo, or Vialli. It may even be Di Canio or Steve Bull as they are losing their hair too

It could have been Sven

Don't take the P, I know what I saw. It was Pep Guardiola

I know what I saw and it was def Mcdermott. Black merc and he pulled in behind the Billy Wright stand. Poxey's black Jag was already there.

Steve McFadden??

Or Mick's had a grade 1.

No i can definately confirm it was Pepa Pig

Matt Lucas? Buster Bloodvessel? Yul Brynner? Michael Stipe? Sinead O'Connor?

Is it a bird?

Apparently Stephen Hawking is going to be the new fitness coach too

My missus is excited i told her that bald bloke spotted at molineux is the rock ! He must have smelt wot moxey was cooking !

I discovered who it was, It was Greg Wallace!!!

Please god let it be Ray Wilkins!!! WTF is Brian Mcdermott? MM won us the championship (& Sunderland) on a shoestring and was woefully lacking as a prem manager. Wilkins all the way with Poyet or Clark!

Yul Bryner and the magnificent 7!

Possibly hannibal lecter just poppin in for lunch lol

Wilkins is in italy doing champions league stuff with ss, i got a real bad feeling its mcdermot and know were deep in discussions!
4d

Stephen Hawking comment harsh! Bald bloke could be Howard Webb

Mcdermot does look like matt lucas, mind you saying that these bloody scenes down the wolves are bloody comical maybe lucas might be a better bet !!
4d

The Rock? What are you on? Bald and looks like Brian McDermott, obviously Stone Cold Steve Austin

ITS ROSS KEMP

Obviously Danny Mills

Hold tight lads.....Steve Keane!

Steve Kean was delivering some Fried Chicken

Breaking news it was pitbull at the ground he is the new manager

Could be Harry Hill n av Wagbo as his No 2

Heard the adams family tune being played inside the molineux, must be ray wilkins (he did play uncle festa right?)

21 Feb 2012 17:49:58
Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley that latest market movers

Just been listening to WM Curbishley was offered a 2 1/2 year deal but only wanted 13 games so he could walk away if we went down because he didnt want to manage in the championship! No commitment me thinks better off without him!

You don't make sense - Why couldn't he walk if given 3 year contract?
He could walk after 2 games if he wanted - just nul and void contract - then wouldn't be able to work for remainder of contract....
You talk rubbish

You have got that back to front pal, he was offered a 13 game deal and wanted a 3 year deal which was negotiated to 2 years and 13 games!
stumbling block was transfers, fees, player wages - Moxey - the central figure to this.
Curbishley for wolves please

I am just telling you the breaking news on WM !! So dont say im talking rubbish.They offered him a 2 1/2 year deal and he wouldnt sign the contract!!He only wanted it till the end of the season.

No mate they have been talking about it for an hour on WM.a
Apparently he said that he is a prem manager and doesnt want to work in the championship!

21 Feb 2012 17:20:25
Curbishley is still the prefered candidate.
Curbishley still wants the job.
He is quietly confident things can be sorted.
He is still talking to the CEO and the owner.
Talks are still on going...Fact

I think this person may be right.
Check ladbrokes.
Curbishley is now second favourit again with Bruce. Bruce is drifting. Curbishley is red hot again.

Could be right. Curbs is now second fav again with some bookies

Bton Chauffeur: sorry this Curbishley still wants job rumour is inaccurate! Just wait and see whoever is writing this rumour. Your manager is definately going to be of South American persuasion!

We all hate Moxey, fact.

Like i said earlier. You'll see...

Curbs will be anounced tomorrow..

To the Brighton car driver.
He is not my manager. I am not even a football supporter. Just know someone in the media very well.
Watch this space and keep driving.

21 Feb 2012 17:07:21
Rumour circulating on twitter that McDermott has signed a contract extension with Reading. Nothing confirmed.

I do hope so

21 Feb 2012 16:23:05
Curbishley is also prepared to concede on his demands.
It's all a bit of a game.

Watch this space

He has not closed the door.

Says who and where?

Curbs and Bruce still both want the job.
They just underestimated Morgan and Moxey.
The door is open for both. Curbs is their choice. They are still prepared for Roy Keane in the short term. The others are pawns.

Fair play to curbishley for refusing to work for the two m's (muppets)

He has not refused. He wants the job.
You'll see.
I do have my source.

I have source on my chips - brown normally

I have source on my kebbab.....chilli usually....

21 Feb 2012 16:15:49
Steve Bruce as played is desperation card. He called Moxey last night.
He has now conceded on all his demands and agreed to Moxey's terms.
To be anounced on Thursday.

I am one of the few who like him any one but mick

Curbs is also still in talks

Bruce was trying to negotiate a better deal - Moxey offered a pie and pint but Bruce insisted on 2 pies and 5 pints

21 Feb 2012 15:48:00
Good afternoon wolves fan, the Brighton chauffeur here again! I do believe when I posted my accurate information on Saturday I was being ridiculed. Sorry for getting Moxey and Morgan names confused but I don't actually have an interest in your club, but now the Messiah is on the verge of signing a three year contact with u, I wish your club all the best for the future. Don't worry u will be in good hands with Mr Poyet as we will be with Lee Clarke or Karl robinson who have been lined up as possible replacements! Up the Seagulls!!

Any news on when this will be announced then?

Take him if he brings wilkins, but think ur off the mark, mcdermott is close to signing unless there is a miracle, hopefully!!
4d

If this is true thanks and happy driving amigo. Mr Corellation.

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnn ! seriously laurel and hardy need to get this manager positioned filled , it aint about 13 games its about the future of wolverhampton wanderers which means break the bank do the homework at get the right man/team in , which me personally needs to be poyet and wilkins although thats prob to ambitious for said pair above !

Brighton Chauffeur here, as I said Saturday, we have a game against Hull tomorrow, so the answer to when it will be announced is Thurs am (officially) after match unofficially! Be patient my Wolverhampton friends... All good things to those that wait!

And do you know if Taricco or any of his staff will be going too?

Dont want poyet no premier league experience if they are on about having him we may aswell of stuck with mick

Bton Chauffeur: I can confirm Tarricco will go as well but Brighton will not let Oatway go as well! He is a quality coach and has a solid relationship with all at Brighton. The fans adore him as he does them! So please u can have Gus and Tarricco but don't take Charlie. Got to go as M25 is now eventually moving.

Exactly what direction were u heading under M M... Down me thinks, with the players u have Poyet will get u playing football, please let me drive. Bton Chauffeur

21 Feb 2012 15:23:05
Mcdermott happy with terms - take a bow m+m! wilkins has been talked to, not sure yet, keep ya posted.

Im not happy with mc trot mot!

Is that why you thumbed down?

21 Feb 2012 14:32:37
after the post on the mirror saying poyet will be available for 2 mil, do you think wolves will pay that Ed? And if they got him would Wilkins come in aswell or does poyet have his own number 2 {Ed001's Note - Wolves would pay it, if he was deemed the right man for the job. Currently he works with Mauricio Tarricco, I don't see there being a problem with Wilkins working with the pair of them though.}

Finally after everthing I have been reading over the last few days I am actually becoming excited about this possibility. Some of the candidates have filled me with dread Bruce and all the other utter dross that have been linked..... BUT this combo, even if all three, would be simply formidable..... I dare not to dream that we actually have the ambition to go for it, and I actually believe they could keep us up and move us forwards....

Mcdermot deal closing in on being decided, PANIC if you ask me, crap also, just when we need premiership experience and guidance we go to the championship, god help us! whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
4d

What has McDermott done that McCarthy hasn't. Nothing. If we appoint him it will be an utter disgrace and the club will deserve to go down. Thanks moxey and Morgan for turning this club into the laughi g stock of the premier league.

'4d' what are your sources for the McDermot deal being nearly done?

Friend at the club.
4d

21 Feb 2012 13:51:53
Wolves have been given permission to speak to Gus Poyet, he will cost them around £2million compo.

Source- mirror football website

Poyet and Wilkins dream team..... go on you wolves..

McDermott next manager....being finalised today!

Id love poyet and wilkins to be honest i posted not so long ago at how chelsea have lost there way since wilkins left there, not so sure about mcdmt (pretty sure hes the one there going for, but why this stupid interview rubbish if we were then just go raid reading!!) again championship! seems to point toward wolves board AIMING TO WHERE WERE HEADED , yes poyet is lower leagues but im to thinking wilkins is the brains and would be axing half this hapless championship squad.!
4d.
to morgan and moxey your a pair of clots, end of last season should of been the time to search for managers!!!, not all MMs fault, the board have to shoulder some of the blame here and this god circus!!!!!!!

Totally agree that Poyet & Wilkins would make a great team. Hope this comes off, seems a logical train of thought but we all have to hope Moxey & Morgan think the same.

Yes i would go with them not the guy from reading

Yes, gotta wonder why Wolves are looking for Champ experience here. On the other hand, we're more likely to bounce back than aim for 17th yet again.

Looking like mcdermot, so theres a total shocker!! the obvious and best choice seems to evade those fools at the helm of our club, one word POOR! another CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER, CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL, although the only thing iswe pay premier league ticket prices though (at least for another 13 games)WTF!!
4D

Surely Holloway is a better option I know Blackpool went down but they only had half decent Championship players and he motivated them to become Premiership players just think what he could achieve with our squad. Anyway I still want Poyet & Wilkins.

21 Feb 2012 12:51:13
wolves to made formal offer to reading to speak to there manager!!
4d

Great news....Clipboard Connor has been added to the bookies list of managerial candidates - God help Us!!

Seriously what 4 plums disagree !!!
4d

21 Feb 2012 12:05:53
Ray Wilkins has thrown his name into the fray for the Wolves manager role.In the E&S
Gibo

BBC now reporting that McDermott is the front runner. Enough already!

Can't see Wilkins being the new man.

For what it's worth, Bruce is still favourite with the bookies and has been for a few days now.

Not all bookies, some have Bruce, some Clark, some McDermott. Its too close to call, which makes me convinced the new man wont be in charge on Saturday

Wilkins no chance unfotunatly anyone who could do this job wouldnt want to work under the constraits of this chairman Warnock terminated the interview Curbishley realised the demands are unreasonable what happened to experience? They dont want to pay the money hence the targetting of McDermott i'm fed up with this now Peace guy in charge of those up the road is like Father Christmas compared to Morgan heaven help us

21 Feb 2012 11:50:35
Ed, any idea what Terry Venables is doing these days. He's not been in the spotlight for a while and may fancy doing a job for us, even if it's in the short-term. I know he writes a column in the sun. {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware he just does punditry now, I am sure he would be available if Wolves showed any interest though.}

Ray Wilkins would be simply amazing ED Is it true he expressed an interest? {Ed001's Note - he has said something along those lines, but it is easy to say you would be interested before you take a look at the job itself! Though I certainly wouldn't rule him out of contention to be a number 2 to the new man, if the new man wants him.}

21 Feb 2012 11:34:04
New headline on E&S website: Connor set to steer Wolves at Newcastle

Happy Days...

Yes. A bit late for a new manager to take over team affairs for that match anyway. Wonder what short term deal Connor has been offered if he really is going to be off soon?

Clipboard as manager even for a day is a sickening thought.....what has my club become!

Bloody 13 days after sandwell town mess and no one in now god knows who looking at made us one joke mr morgan

21 Feb 2012 11:31:05
Its looking like a double appointment - Souness as Director of Football with Lee Clark working under him as Coach. Although Clark might be considered a 'novice' its felt that Souness has the experience for this to be a dream team.

Why is my name not being linked to the Wolves job?

From all the mugs left this seems to be the best option. Basically anything other than Bruce would be good, i bet Rooney wouldn't be bigging him up if he thought Man utd were in for a new manager.

My bet is that MM have given up on premiership, realising that good managers aint out there. Looking to rebuilding in the championship next year, knowing that there should have backed the manager this year. Having interviewed all thats out there. There only option they have is to appoint someone who is in the wolves DNA, someone who knows the premier league has got teams out of the championship previously. Welcome our new manager MR MICK MCCARTHY!!!!!!!!! GET HIM BACK

Yeh....madmick was great for us wasn't he....NOT

The one clear thing with all of this is the fact that no manager in charge is better than madmick in charge! His last wolves days were shambolic to say the least - clutching at straws with team selections -
Which brings me on to our manager selection process....Just pick up the phone and tell Curbishley they have reconsidered and the job is his
Curbs for wolves please

Mad mick, our best manager for year it was proved with two loan signings that we are only two or three signings short of a good team. Needed to spend proper money not couple of thousand on scottish league or lower division players. In the last twelve months the playing side of WWFC was treated totally wrong second fiddle to the stadium. so yes i think morgan and moxey got it wrong and i wont go again this year, renew season ticket for next year after six years not sure yet

Are you mad! £40mil net spend, 5th highest in EPL - so you have man utd, arsenal, chelsea, man city, spurs, liverpool AND that means wolves have spent more over the last 2 years than 2 of those clubs - How much money did you want to give madmick for god sake!

21 feb 2012 11:07:48
talksport at 11-00 a.m.

poyet and mcdermott

not in the running.

Their odds have certainly drifted. Back to Bruce or Clarke, then.

Check the talksport website, states they are not the only names on the list

Yes, it doesn't say they're not in the running.

(But my hunch is that they are not in the running!)

21 Feb 2012 10:49:44
further news out of mol! - backroom staff will go, including TC. all coaches will go and new man will be able to bring in his own team. so again it beggers beleif as to the reason why curbs turned us down (

If that's the case then forget the next match. Why would Connor bother if he's going to be out of a job?

Because no new manager has come yet...you wait! TC will go.

21 Feb 2012 10:15:20
wolves are looking at souness and poyet / mcdermot.

Any news regarding poyet /mc dermott clock is ticking for the weekend

I'd sit tight, got a feeling that this isn't going to be resolved before the Newcastle game.

Can't see tightfisted skinflint moxey buying out gus pollets 5 year contract.:-( {Ed001's Note - Morgan will release the funds to pay for the right manager, he has already made that clear.}

Unsure, but news coming this way seams to be leaning toward souness coming in behind a younger manager, my bet would be mcdermott as he wouldnt cost a lot in compo and would be in the 'wolves DNA' we are looking for.

So if that is the case of releasing money, why didn't he give the funds to curbishley?
He stated that curbishley was the type of candidate required, he even wanted curbishley at his beloved liverpool a little while ago.....So what has changed?
None of this makes sense, if morgan wants what is best for wolves he is going about it in a strange way
Curbishley for wolves please {Ed001's Note - I really don't know what Curbishley was looking for, he could have priced himself out by demanding 50m to spend each season for all I know.}

With my limited knowledge, all he wanted was a review of our transfer policy - if the right player was available to put forward a case and not be instantly knocked back because of age of player and wage demands!
Curbishley also wanted a 3year contract which was negotiated to 2 years and 13 games, his wages were not a problem
The stumbling block was Moxey imput on financing transfers and wages - remember that Moxey gets a big bonus on Wolves profatability!
I can see a fall out from this where Moxey may well become surplus to requirements - Remember that Morgan has inherited the whole molineux team and was keen to bring his own team in from day 1 - BUT - jack hayward insisted on keeping the team together for a set period!!
Interesting if not embarresing times!

21 Feb 2012 00:26:28
ED any news on the poyet situation? ie brighton let wolves approach him, anything else on keane, clark or a long shot ole gunner, and has the been a press conference called?
cheers

vidosiclover33 {Ed001's Note - Wolves spent the weekend talking to Brighton, establishing how much compo they would want etc. I assume they must have set a price they were keen on as the rumours started flying around because they were given permission to speak to him apparently.}

Thanks Ed, good news for wolves as I believe he would want to be in the prem asap {Ed001's Note - only if the news is correct, it is very difficult to be sure when you have to get it 3rd hand so to speak. I don't know anyone connected with Brighton to check it out with!}

Who do you think would be best for the job and who do you think will actually get it? {Ed001's Note - Paul Lambert would be my choice, but I think it will end up being Poyet. Bruce did well in his interview, by all accounts, but the fans' reaction seems to have ruled him out of the job.}

I don't understand why everyone is so pro poyet and against bruce. Poyet is clearly a good young manager but he has only had one full season in league 1 whereas Bruce has a proven record of keeping teams in the premier league.

Dont want poyet no premier league experience

Any new about Roy Keane?

I don't see why people want Roy Keane, then say that poyet has no experience, Keane failed at Ipswich and was average at Sunderland. He would blow up whenever he didn't get his way with the board where as an eager manager like poyet is more likely to work with the them. And above all it would be the biggest insult to Mick to appoint Keane.

If Bruce is eager and wants the job, id take a punt on him. He's done a fair job with the teams he's managed in the prem and his connections with MUFC will help re getting players in. Not many more passionate managers in football.
