Who reckons from what weve seen so far that Ikeme deserves to be in team ahead of Hennessey?

I think if he keeps playing well then yes

Defence looks alot more solid with ikeme in goal thats for sure

Get lost henneseys amazing

We know he is but ikeme has been great so far

He's got a run in the team.see where we are when hennesey is fit.

Hennessey is supreme when faced by an attacker coming at him head-on but Ikeme is safer under crosses.

Ikeme come for balls a lot more confidently than henners but henners is the better shot stopper. They could both learn from each other IMO.

Ikeme is doing great but i wouldnt say he is better then wayne no way last year wayne had premiership oponents and a p1ss poor defense this year ikeme has what looks to be a better defense and championship oposition hardly fair to compare them IMO ,
PortonWolf

Ikeme is a much better keeper than Hennessey. Looks a lot calmer when shots come in from long distance and catches them first time rather than parrying them. He also comes out and dominates the box, there was one v Derby when he caught it on the edge of the box. You'd never see WH doing that. Finally, he moves across his line a lot better than WH does. Couple of times v NTFC there were shots from way out that were trickling towards him and he moved across and fielded them, whereas WH probably would have dived from his position in the middle of the goal and could well have beaten him. I'm not a Hennessey fan, Ikeme is a much better keeper, hope he gets a run in the team and some mug comes in and buys Wayne when he's fit.

Personally i think henno is over rated , the one thing ikeme does is he talks and commands his box which henno never does which results in defenders making mistakes {Ed011's Note - He's English but can play for Nigeria.

Is he english? He is better than jack butland and he is with the england squad so i think we have another future england player in our team {Ed011's Note - He is but has already opted to represent Nigeria at international level because he must know he won't get a decent chance to play for England, he's been called up to the Nigeria squad but hasn't made his debut yet.

Hennesy at times last season virtually threw the ball in the net ikeme for me any time hennessy has gone backwards

Ikeme better than Hennesey? Have ppl gone mad! Ikeme is average at best. Thts why he's always been 3rd choice 4 so long.

Some ppl talk utter rubbishe on ere sometimes. If Henno had a decent defence in front of him it would of helped. We would of shipped over a 100 wiv Ikeme in Prem! Ive watched Ikeme when he ws on loan at Middlesborough. Qpr and Doncaster. He's pretty average really. Dnt knw wht all the fuss is really. Anyway you divvy's keep believing in Ikeme.. Coz i wont be.

Get De Vries back in goal! Ikeme's shat!

Still believe in Ikeme now?.. I rest my case.

Ed - What do you think are the chances of us bringing in 2 or 3 loan signings? I still think we are a couple of player short of having a very good squad. Just hope SS will be actively looking come 7th Sept. {Ed011's Note - The club website says the following:

Like all clubs from the Football League, Wolves also have the possibility of utilising the emergency loan window which opens on September 7. Speaking earlier today, when anticipating no further incomings, Solbakken declared he was happy with the mark up of his squad.

"I am pleased with the squad that we have and I think we can cope provided we don't suffer many bad injuries" he said.

"And we should remember that we are also able to compete in the loan window again when it opens."

- From that I expect us to make a minimum of one loan signing.

McCarthy also would say he is happy with his squad!! {Ed011's Note - Any manager would say it, what manager would come out and say "No we've done awful, we haven't got the signings and now we're going to lose every game"??

Mancini? {Ed011's Note - Good point.

Yeah we're 2 or 3 DEFENDERS of having a good squad!

01 Sep 2012 19:35:01
Im not moaning or having a go, but allthough im pleased with the deals we have done, i cant help think it should have been more. We got £20mil for jarvo n fletch, add to the parachute payments we had a good kitty, most if not all players had their wages reduced when dropping down to the champ. So with the best of £30 £35 mil, we only spent £8mil of it! I just feel we may have done more, but i just have to trust stale n hope this squads big enuf and good enough! FWAW

Stop that now ....your talking too much sense and you will be called a moaner by the moaners who are moaning about the moaners

007

I see Morgan is trying to buy Redrow back, I wonder where the money is coming from!

Some of the money will go towards the redevelopment of the Steve Bull (the sooner it gets done the better).

AW

Agree with you. We have managed to replace the midfielders that have gone. Where is Fletch`s replacement!!
He proved today what a class player he is....
I can`t believe with our funds we could not get a goalscorer...... Please don`t say EBB will do it, that miss against Derby shows how good he is
UTW

I can see a striker coming in on loan on the 7th.
And anyway don't forget if we can make it to January around the playoff zone I think more money will be released.

Can some of the fans not see morgan is selling us a pup here bleeding us

Quote jordan rhodes was out of our price range wtf {Ed011's Note - We weren't prepared to spend £8m on someone who'd has barely played in the Championship and never the Premier League, Solbakken said that the player has a strong future ahead of him so we conceed that we know he'll be a star and will do well this season it was just the money that put us off. I think we should've gone for it personally, if he's worth £8m now even if we end up losing him in the future he'd have been worth more than Fletcher.

Morgans move to take over Redrow will add stature to our club, he cannot juggle funds from WWFC into Redrow, he can take a wage or a dividend, but why would he want to do that when he can build the club up & sell it for a massive profit once he feels hes too old for the job of chairman. As supporters we benefit from his good fortune and business acumen.

01 Sep 2012 18:59:24
Drogba - Free agent again, Whats the chances on him coming to Wolves ed ?

Mills wolf #flyingpigs {Ed011's Note - He'd have to join the queue behind Owen, Kenwyne Jones, Peter Crouch and Trezeguet!

More chance of me winning the euro millions

01 Sep 2012 18:24:04
so important we get ohara back fit and firing, he is a class act and would be amazing under our new strategies, imagine this:

Peszko Doumbia o'hara Sako
                Boukari
                  Doyle

frimpong on loan would be perfect though!

Not many defensive minded players in that front 6.

Not having a defensive midfielder is suicide considering our defence.

01 Sep 2012 18:15:45
Talk about deluded fans papering over the cracks with their optimistic comments. The truth is yet again we've spent peanuts-I hope these fans don't start whinging at the end of the season when we are rooted about half way in The Championship , and the Tesco's have qualified for European football-still at least we can aim to win the accounts award for balancing the books. {Ed011's Note - Since when was £8m+ peanuts. If you're so confident we'll finish midtable then why not say now for us all to see that if we make the play offs you won't come to any of the games games or the final at Wembley - I won't jump on the whinging band wagon so you shouldn't be able to do the same. If we finish midtable it doesn't matter, this is a long term project that's more about Premiership stability than instantaneous promotion.

Ed youve got it spot on the players our gaffer has brought are class and bargains when they gell itll be great 8 mill spent wisely is fine by me

You're deluded.

You make yourself look an person.

Editor£ 8M spent is peanutsCOMPARED to £27m received. If you sell a house for £270k and buy a new one for £80k,you have spent peanuts replacing your home and have seriously downsized. {Ed011's Note - We've sold some nice houses for a lot and bought 7 that'll be great with some TLC.

Tell the person who posted this I will bet him whatever he wants we finish atleast in play offs. Sorry put disagree to second post by mistake ha. Fat finger Eca wolves

It's not all about money spent. Remember Doumbia and Peszko haven't cost us anything (yet). So say we had bought them that would likely be another £5m. But we were also looking at reducing the wagebill by gettind rid of deadwood. Until some of them have been offloaded we can't really bring in many more.

Loans aren't free!! Remember when Celtic paid us 1.5mill to take camara on loan for a season! hah i'm still laughing about that. hahah

I am happy with who we have got in. 7 players is a lot and you have to allow time for the new people to Gel. I'm sure that we will add a few more on loan and I am excited for this season. Stay positive and support the boys.

VB Wolf

Totally agree the most sensible post for many days, we are now a championship club in major transition and have brought very wisely give the boys a chance to gel then perform come on you wolves..

Bakary Sako will be a wolves legend as will tongo doumbia

Rip off by morgan not 7 million spent you see new stand in a few months

Rip off by Morgan tut tut. Some of you on here might not remember the dark days when we had 1/2 a ground and plied our trade in the bottom leauge due to bad owners and the running of our club but i was and i never want to go there again. So long may Morgan rein

Sir Jack put this club back on its feet.

Personally i hope he builds the ground up n some mega rich sheik buys us out. Would love 2 see us do wht Man City are doing..

We'd still moan.

Yes we will never move forwards with morgan all the money in and lets less then 7 millions go

"Rip off by morgan not 7 million spent you see new stand in a few months"

You sir, are an person. {Ed011's Note - I'm starting to think that the site is automatically changing some sort of insult to person... something beginning with a vowel no less... it isn't me doing it. It's like being in control of a ship that every so often does what it wants... like the Doctor and the Tardis... or like something out of Knight Rider... but much less cool than either.

^^ Ha. Ed, it wouldn't be so bad but it can't even get the grammar right. Surely it should be a person, not an. {Ed011's Note - Ssssh!! The Machine will hear you insulting it!! It's ok machine he didn't mean it and I'm sure you can probably, maybe, sometimes say an or a person.

01 Sep 2012 15:54:38
At the moment this site should be renamed 'mud-slinging' as the happy clappers and moaners hurl insults at each other, using rather fruity language to get their one-sided views across. And the roller-coaster of the season so far has encouraged extreme emotions, which, reading the various posts, have alternated between the suicidal and the ecstatic. I am as much to blame as anyone else. I have bemoaned management's failure to bring in any new defenders (apart from Margreitter) and worry that we will continue to leak goals. On the other hand, I am pleased with our acquisitions in midfield and feel that we have substantially strengthened the squad in this area. We surely will not miss Kightly or Jarvis. Moreover, I am impressed with our new manager, feeling that he has a real feel for the modern game, something which MM never had. Of course, I am impatient to see results and I did moan about the Leeds and Derby results. But, it is going to take time for SS to change the playing culture at the club, to groove in the new approach in the minds of the established players and to integrate recent arrivals into the squad. The second half at Northampton showed that we have begun the transformation and I look forward to the process gradually accelerating during the course of the season. {Ed011's Note - Every Wolves fan should read this. I'd rather be called an optimist than a "happy clapper" which seems to be the label for trying to see the long term improvements being made.

Dont hold your breath

This "happy clapping" business reminds me of being in school when being smart and trying hard was considered not cool.

01 Sep 2012 15:18:50
Did anyone come in Berra

I heard his old physio did once.Cristophe was gullible when he was younger.

Gibo. {Ed011's Note - Too far Gibo haha too far.

Stafford Rangers wanted him.

In his mouth I think!!:) {Ed011's Note - If there are any children reading this he meant to say"Portsmouth I think" but he has autocorrect.

Would you care to re-phrase that question

Thanks Ed. ha ha

Ha ha ha ha ha. Some great responses.

Doom merchants on here do my head in!

We kept Doyle which is great news. He will score loads with the new midfield and on the floor tactics rather than the up and under style of MM.

We have defenders which have all got Prem experience and who can only improve.

Dont expect miracles overnight - most of you whingers are dinasaurs living in the past. Theres a new top dog in town, his name is Stale - give him a chance!

FFS one of the greatest managers of all time if not the the greatest a certain Alex Fergurson was almost ousted early on in his Man Utd career - I'd have a slice of what he has has acheived at Wolves wouldnt you?

Patience and a bit of support wouldnt go amiss or is it that you want Stale to fail so that you can say - "told you MM was the best man for the job!!"

Nice one , well said.

Gibo.

01 Sep 2012 14:57:00
According to Solbakken in the Wolverhampton Local Press (we all know what they're called), Blackburn's £8m spend on Jordan Rhodes was more than Wolves spent in the whole window.

If you add up the reported fees of our players (£2.4m Siggy, £3m Boukari, £3m Sako and £2m Margreitter) that's £10.4m.

That means the fees reported, which are generally agreed are good prices, are MORE than what we actually paid! Well done Solbakken, Morgan and Moxey for getting them in on such good money.

And Blackburn didn't spend 8 mill. If Stale is really saying this then it will not add to his credibility. Lets have a manager who can show it on the pitch not on paper.
Had enough of the verbal rubbish from Merlin and Connor. {Ed011's Note - They're spending it gradually on Rhodes for £8m.

01 Sep 2012 13:41:00
People going on about getting Glenn Whelan but what about Wilson Palacios?

Stoke say they're open to loaning him to Olympiakos or a Championship club.

Now he (Placios) would be a quality loan signing for us.
Gibo.

Gone to Fulham

I think that's a good shout. If he is open to dropping to the Championship he would definitely do a job. And he fits Stales non British policy.

Palacios has never looked fit for Stoke. He's not even a shadow of his former self. I really hope we aren't after him.

Palacious is still on the books with the oatcakes.
Gibo.

Massively overrated and overpaid.

01 Sep 2012 12:53:08
play stears right back instead of zubar, should of loaned sharp proven goalscorer siguarson looks crap, and before people say he got settle, thats rubbish proven goalscorer score in any team, he looks lazy too

Siggy looks crap?? your a tool... he is a quality player.

Hah what games you been watching?! He looks decent! Good on the ball, quick, composed! What you on about?!

Always one ay there.

I don't remember anybody ever saying Siggy was a poaching striker. That's not his game, he's similar to Doyle and likes to run the channels. He will be good, but he needs a fox in the box to play alongisde - Sharp would have been a good bet.

U can tell he hasnt got a clue what he is talking about

01 Sep 2012 12:52:59
im pleased with the signings, doyle committed, solbakken as sorted johnson out and with the right guidance he will sort elokobi out im sure.we have got some midfield players who are not scared to shoot ouside the box.exciting season ahead.fast attacking football,a few weeks ago stale said he wants us playing like barcelona so lets give it a few games for the new players to settle in.utw

Unlike Johnson, Elokobi's problem isn't in his head, it's in his feet.

01 Sep 2012 11:05:45
{Ed011's Note - Guys I was thinking and how class would Doumbia and Frimpong be in midfield especially with Sako

Would luv that but think he going to be Songs long term replacement as they don't like to spend. Not sure if Wenger likes him though

Doumbia - frimpong - elekobi up front defenders would turn and run the other way muw ha
PortonWolf

All African midfield four with Boukari too.

We will probably get him on loan to build up his fitness, that's a class midfield then!

Would be a great midfield

sako frimpong doumbia boukari

What's gonna happen when the African Nations cup is played? {Ed011's Note - We play Sako Henry O'Hara Peszko. Sako could play for Mali but has never been called up and JOH should be back from his injury by then. That midfield should still boss the Championship.

Peszko frimpong doumbia sako
boukari
Doyle

Having doumbia, frimpong, sako, elokobi and Henry in the squad should be illegal! Too dangerous!

African nations is every other year and won't happen until 2013-14.

01 Sep 2012 11:05:00
I have now lost track. Which of the signings are permanent and which are loan deals . Thanks in advance.

Nouble- Permanent free
Sigurdarson- Permanent 2.4 mil
Margreitter- Permanent undisclosed
Boukari- Permanent 3 mill
Sako- Permanent 3 mill
Doumbia- season long loan. option to buy
Peszko- season long loan. option to buy

I think from wat i remember

WILKO

Only Doumbia & Pezko are loans

Thanks Wilko and the others for the update. Be interesting to see out it pans out but great to see Sako tied up.

01 Sep 2012 10:37:58
Personally i am pleased about the class of players we have bought like sako and doumbia but i was disappointed not the hear that we havent signed a left back or centre mid

01 Sep 2012 10:51:19
I know that I'm looking back a little bit here, but in the Derby game, I personally believe that we would have won the game had the fans not been so negative. Here's my example. Anthony Forde (18 years old I believe) comes on as a sub. He tries to take the ball around the full back for the first time, but fails. At this point, thousand of the wolves fans groaned and complained, so that's the reason that the next time he got the ball, he just passed it backwards. This was the same with a lot of the players towards the end. The reason we couldn't string two or three passes together was simply because the players knew that if they were to slip up, there would be a massive groan or something. Had we encouraged our team towards the end, we would've won.

Also, I can't believe how negative some fans can be. In my opinion we have made 7 quality signings for not a huge amount of money. And plus, twenty seven million for Fletcher, Jarvis and kightly is amazing. I think for once we should get behind the team, Moxey, Morgan and Ståle.

Ollie.

Nothin to do with the fans! That team wasn't good enough and Forde elikobi jonnson Edwards and Davis never will be. Our signins so far are lookin good but I'd like a left back and perhaps kenwyne jones up front or someone of his physical presence and pace.

Wolves fans are no different from any other fans ..they have just dropped out the premier after watchin total crap negative football for 3 seasons , bad management and board decisions which all fans could see what was happening but couldn't do a thing about it cos of stubborn persons in charge ,, 3/4000 happy clappers have gone missing from crowd and gone to clap down the albion now(thank god).
it will take abit of time before wolves fans trust those old players again so any mistake by them will be moaned at, only the new players will get away with it
so i can see why wolves fans are a touch negative.
The fans have every right to moan cos they pay money and if the highly paid players cant handle it well it goes to show they are not good enough. Man city fans were booing there players last season at some matches but they won the premier.
we wont go up if we are clapping rubbish

We are more likely to go up if we support our team rather than pick holes in it.

Ollie.

Dream on ollie boy ,, this championship football not fifa 2013 game

At post 2 ur chattin s**t {Ed011's Note - I'll just say Ollie's completely right, when Wigan get into danger, their fans, both of them ;), get behind the team and club and we rip ours apart, as did Blackburn.

01 Sep 2012 10:10:12
Stop moaning about centre back's we have Johnson, Mouyokolo, Berra, Margreitter and Batth.
Would also include Stearman but think he's better off at full back

And jody

01 Sep 2012 09:47:57
Why don't all the so-called wolves fans who have done f**k all but moan about lack of dead line day signings'f**k off and follow another team,I'm fed up of all the negativity on here, give the new blokes a chance for Christ's sake, they've got to gel with each other and get to grips with what Solbakken is expecting from them, you could see glimpses of what's possible the other night given time and backing from the fans they will rip the league up for arse paper,so get behind em' or bugger off up the rd to the s**t or vile

Why do we have more than our fair share of moaning fans who when it goes right they jump on the bandwagon. Be fair Stale has that much dead wood to deal with he deserves our support unconditionally.

Grow up will you {Ed011's Note - Alright he swore a bit but the guys completely right.

Exactly my point (be it more aggressive).

Ollie

Grow up! GROW UP......my a**e,,,,by the way I forgot to sign off.
MFA...MR F***ing Angry {Ed011's Note - I'd rather not have to censor the profanities in comments, just tone it down.

Ed...I self censored both before sending!? {Ed011's Note - I know, I meant Taking the naughty words out completely haha, some of it gets changed automatically.

And I thought my child had all the Mr Men books...

01 Sep 2012 08:35:24
Again, NEGATIVE TALK that we signed no one on deadline day. The players weve already signed are going to take a while to gel but showed on thursday that we can get the job done. Yes i know it was only Northampton but bigger teams than us have fallen to smaller teams than them. For once people should have faith in the players weve got and have faith in Stale

You seem surprised that some fans have negative views.Maybe it is something to do with the obvious point that we struggled in midfield last week against Derby, and for the first half against lowly Northampton. Yet we have not strenghened in midfield.Do you seriously think Nouble and the kid from Iceland will score the goals to replace Fletcher? The fact that Cardiff signed Maynard and Forest signed Billy Sharp, whilst we did nothing should tell you something. We sold a striker for £12m and signed a replacement who is still adapting for £2m.We have Doyle who is struggling for goals and Ebanks who doesnot look fit.We will have to wait and see,but where are the goals going to come from against tight Championship defences?

The loan market opens up on the seventh of September. So Stale could also strengthen the squad then (if he deems it needs to be done). All in all I believe we made some very good signings this Summer.Seven signings five senior players and two youth development. Not bad for club who has just been relegated. We lost two star players but the money was reinvested. If you look at the players brought in by Stale they are of a very different caliber than any of MM's signings. But most importantly WE ARE WOLVES.
Gibo.

Who cares about deadline day we didn't pay over the odds for someone we didn't want

No we just missed henry on saturday its obvious as i said after the game wivout henry teams go straight through the midfield but wiv henry we will be better

my team:

GK:Ikeme (til hennessey fit)
RB: Foley
CB: Johnson
CB: Margreitter (Berra if he is crap)
LB: Ward
RM: Peszko
CM: Doumbia
CM: Henry
LM: Sako
CAM: Boukari
ST: (Let doyle, ebanks-blake or sigurdarson fight it out

WILKO

Rather have Doyle and Blake than most championship strikers this season. They will be fit, they will find form and will score goals i'm sure of that.

01 Sep 2012 07:56:07
Made some useful signings, time will tell. Very surprised we didnt sign a couple more defenders though. Lets get behind the lads coz i think they are going to need it. WE ARE WOLVES
