Until we reach the premier Division we can't attract the best players we need we can pay over the odds to do so but not saying we will get promotion just left with players on a high wage we need a manager who can get good plays hungry like the Jarvis and Ebanks-Blake on a low cost get the odd top targets like the costas I think we need a manager like mick McCarthy proven to find young hungry players and then mendes to bring the odd top player in Paul lambert ain't the one to do all this I know it's a step back with McCarthy but he knows the division got the scouting for the players u have to take a step back sometimes to go forward ( just a thought ) 😊😊.

Rather have Ronald Mcdonald in Mick was a big factor in the dross we have spent a few seasons trying to offload, him and Moxey offering silly long contracts.
No doubt Mick will always have a place in our hearts but he should of gone sooner than he did imo.

We don't have many players from the mick era left compared to zenga and the players mick brought in the club most of them did well the odd few but mostly all micks players did well . Mick isn't a premier league manager but knows the type of players we need to get out of the championship it's going to take 3 seasons to get the type of players we need at to gel as a team all I'm saying is I think somone like McCarthy would be good to have this summer and start getting the players in and slowly get the pap players out the club we don't need loads of money thrown in the club just 6 good players and a good manager proven in this league macarthy is just one of them I can think of even Neil warnock could do for us Paul lambert hasn't done anything apart from Norwich that's his only good job so far imo.

I can see where you are coming from Dean but what do you do with McCarthy and the players he brought in once he gets you to the Premier? We have seen at first hand that few of the last batch were good enough and McCarthy certainly is not good enough to manage in the Prem as his record shows.

31 Mar 2017 08:33:43
Deanwolves83 sorry mate can't agree with you on this one McCarthy is no better than Lambert there would be no point in changing lambert for someone who is of the same level as him i. e. McCarthy, Pearson, Rowett, Warburton.
Lets just hope we can get a win and good performance tomorrow then we can get away from the bottom of this league and start to look forward to next season. WARNING to Mr Lambert don't lose tomorrow or the wolves will back at your door. UTW.

I may have missed something here so correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't Mick get us promoted and then keep us up for 2 successive seasons. Also, when he was sacked, we weren't in the relegation places. Therefore the facts prove that he was good enough to manage in the Premier league.

31 Mar 2017 11:50:57
We will survive this season i'm confident of that but I don't think we will get promoted next season the good players will be sold like Costa for profit the owners want to make money and if 13 million is spent on one player and can be sold for 25 million the it's bye bye to that player it's all about money to them Paul lambert ain't a good manager ️Wats he done apart from Norwich and look at the squad he had at Norwich most managers in the championship would have took that squad to the to the premier league how was his time at Blackburn not to good I'd say all in saying we need somone who knows the league very well and mick does how many times has Ipswich been down the bottom end of the table in 5 years? Give mick the few seasons we need to get out the championship then give him the big money for players and see ️wat he can do then.

Deanwolves83. You may not like Paul Lambert and you say that the squad he had at Norwich would have won promotion under any manager but you fail to mention that when he took over at Norwich, they were in the relegation zone of League 1. He then assembled the Norwich squad himself. Does he not deserve the same chance here as he's clearly proved he can do it.

Mick is doing such a great job at Ipswich isn't he?

Unless it all goes tits up in the last nine games I think Lambert will be looking at these players for next season.
Keeper: John Ruddy, end of contract this summer and he signed him at Norwich.
CB: Ryan Bennett another player he signed and also available this summer.
DM: Ashley Westwood, Lambert rates him highly. Under contract at Burnley but not getting much game time.
FW: Kyle Lafferty, another player available this summer and another player he previously signed. Not so prolific at club level but for N. Ireland he does alright.
Just a few of my guesses for next season. He may also like Alan Hutton, again free this summer, plus he's from Glasgow.
This would leave us with plenty of money to spend to spend on a quality striker.
Everyone keeps talking about Tammy Abraham for obvious reasons. Chelsea also have another young and prolific goal scorer called Dominic Solanke who is available this summer.

I like to see mick mcarthy back tbh.

30 Mar 2017 13:40:34
Kyle lafferty lol he's worse than gladon.

30 Mar 2017 13:58:30
Lafferty is a joke of a player can't even think of a season of him hitting double figures we need a Chris woods type to play with Dicko.

30 Mar 2017 14:45:41
Just for the record, I wasn't personally suggesting any of the above. Just some players previously signed by Lambert whose contracts are up this summer. Still don't know of Lambert will have the final say on players he wants, or is that going to be Butti or Mendes.

31 Mar 2017 08:14:03
Neukdae you cannot be serious with any of these players I think you are pulling the proverbial here.

31 Mar 2017 09:49:35
I was just trying to get into Lambert's head. A strange place to be.
For what its worth my choice would be to get some strong experienced leaders down the spine. Players like, Scott Dann in defence, Steven Davis in midfield and Jonathan Walters up front.
