Just throwing it out there but a lot of us didn't want Griff back because of bad attitude etc & we were proved right. I fear the same thing with Clarke just when we have got a solid united dressing room. Hope he proves us wrong. Over to you Leon

I was one who posted questions about Griff. Not necessarily his attitude, more that he probably isn't as good as we thought he was. I think I was probably proved wrong, as his scoring was good in the first half of the season.

But it looks like he's going to Celtic. This will NOT be good for his career. Celtic forever buy Scottish players (usually from Hibs) then don't play them. Celtic want European standard players, and I think we agree Griffiths isn't one of them, although he's good in the SPL. (where many teams are the standard he's been playing at Wolves this season).

Desperate times, call for desperate measures! I really hope I am wrong but LC does not seem the answer, much rather have Clayton Donaldson!

Desperate times? obviously jacket see's Clarke as the ideal foil for dicko
his goal scoring out weighs Donaldson his assists are good, and he looks like he as matured.it looks a done deal so we have to get on with it and support the wolves

Out weigh's Donaldson? By two goals? Behave!

So. It's to be Leon Clarke.

Now I have all season praised Kacket/Thelwell/Webber for their sigings. jackett has made his own team out of new signings that have all been top notch in my opinion.

When Leon Clarke's name first turned up, I thought "Dear God No" for how his attitude was the last time around. But after a while I thought that maybe just maybe he had changed. He's the league top scorer after all, and I'd go with KJ's judgement.

Here's the But, and it's a big BUT. Remember the stink that kicked off when Wayne Hennessey refused to play? How the internets were calling for his dismissal, even Kenny Jackett came out in public to point out how unprofessional it was? Well Leon Clarke did exactly the same thing to Coventry last night. The hypocrisy doesn't sit right with me. It's fine for another team's player to do so, just not one of ours? What's to say that next season he doesn't do exactly the same thing? Maybe he hasn't changed after all.

I will back him in Gold and Black (Just like I would O'Hara) but I for one won't sing his name. I fear this is Jackett and Thelwell's first error of judgement

Totally agree good post won't do much for morale either

Meant Jackett of course. Sorry for lack of typing ability!

Makes me wonder if KJ is thinking about the future because Clarke won't cut it in the championship, that's if we get promoted that is.

A very odd signing indeed just hope it doesn't back fire on him but I can see it happening

In fairness Andy W I can understand perhaps the underlying anxiety surrounding this signing.

But there are some differences with the Hennessey and Clarke situations. Clarke had already put in a transfer request, Henno didn't.
Clarke let it be known that he wanted a move, Henno working on the prospect of interest in him. Clarke is staying in the same division, most likely Henno was promoting himself out and up a division, maybe 2 if CP were calling.
Finally, if his then club, Coventry, were stalling - understandably - then he, Clarke, was in a very awkward situation, transfer in, window shut, going nowhere.
He brought the situation to a head.

Pressley is sounding off about his letting the team down, I would too because what he has achieved is a minor miracle, and it's team based so, of course, he doesn't want anyone disrupting the rhythm. But Clarke asked to go, and at 28, the opportunity he has now may not come again - opportunities are limited, he has grasped his and hopefully it will be rewarding. The £750k (probably undisclosed) will soften Pressley's cough a little - but I do have sympathy.

However I'm going to go with KJ on this one - if Clarke is the man he wanted, then this is the man he's got. This league is shaping up to be the shoot out at the OK Corral - we're going to need firepower to gun down the Bs and the Os. If Clarke has packed his shooting pistols and he's on our side, I'm ok with that. Think we're going to need him before the dust settles. wolfshead.

If Jackett carries on playing 4231 kind of thing then I don't see how Clarke fits in. Or will we go to a conventional 442 now?

Fee agreed with Clarke, medical and talks going on today says on the Wolves site if you don't believe me, C'mon Wolves!

So Leon is coming home mmmm not impressed and certainly not impressed when he could/should have played last night and help beat Orient. NOw if you want to win fans over that would have gone a long way to doing it!

The club as just gone backwards and wasted 750k

I am old enough to remember the Doog playing and his off field antics, but he proved to be a brilliant signing for us, and he had more clubs than anyone.I don't care about clarks temprement if he scores 20 plus goals a season.

29 Jan 2014 18:52:52
bid accepted for clarke, don't see where he'll play? We play 4231 and doing very well with it, dicko looks good upfront so I wouldn't put him on the wing. Wanted someone instead of evans and edwards. But I trust KJ with his signings so far so let's get behind him

WILKO

Sell griffo for a mill and Doyle for 2 mil play dicko up top with siggy and mcalinden on the bench or one of them up with dicko then try and improve other areas of the team with the money from griffo and doyle

With Burnley likely to lose Danny Ings to a Prem side in this window their chances of promotion will be considerably weakened - Leicester and QPR are heavy favourites. Might this leave the way to open to try and tempt Ings goal scoring partner one Sam Vokes back to the Mol. He has at least proved he can produce the goods in the Championship which is obviously what we need. I think people would prefer this move to Clarke who has not got a good attitude.

Agreed why am I not at all excited about the prospective signing of Leon Clarke?
Just when KJ has a good spirit in the dressing room, why take the risk of spoiling it?

29 Jan 2014 22:16:43
Time will tell with Clarke. Wouldn't be my choice, but time has moved on both for Wolves and for him since our paths last crossed.

As for Vokes, isn't this just typical that a player who didn't make it at Wolves goes on to be succesful at another club. Shows there was something rotten at Wolves, and the players individually probably weren't all that bad.

Good comments about Vokes. Yes there was something rotten at Wolves and that thing was McCarthy. At last, we're just about freed from the poisonous legacy he left us thanks to the wonderful work that KJ has done.
