After speaking to sone Liverpool fans I don't think Ayala is the answer for us They said to me he's a cart horse who turns like a coach in a small car park. I know alot of other wolves fans dislike upon but I really think he could do a job for us if we can keep him fit {Ed001's Note - as a Liverpool fan I can tell you that Ayala is a far better player than Upson, is decent on the ball and is nothing like a cart horse whatsoever. I don't know who you have been talking to but they have clearly never seen the lad play. He reminds me a lot of Agger, but right footed and not quite at that level yet.}

Ed no disrespect but these guys are season ticket holders at Liverpool and they don't rate him at all. Why would we loan this 20 year old when we have Batth who is loaned out now and is as good if not better than ayala? {Ed001's Note - they may be season ticket holders but the lad has barely figured in the first team for them to see him. They clearly haven't seen a lot of him or they would understand why the coaching staff rate him so highly. It is telling that both clubs he went out on loan to last season made a number of bids to sign him on a permanent basis come the end of his loan time. I fail to see how Batth is as good or better, how close would he get to Spain's U21s? Nowhere near I think you will find. By the way I don't think I said anything about Wolves taking Ayala on loan, was just pointing out that your friends clearly have no idea what he is like.}

Well for one thing, Barth isn't spanish, so it would be a physical impossibility, lol

You say Barth, I say Batth.

Wolves had a deal in place to sign the Scotland international for as little as £900,000, but the manager backed off because he wasn't convinced the 23-year-old was better than George Elokobi or Stephen Ward.

The club paid just over £4m to Birmingham for Johnson for a flat fee with no add-ons.

That figure is nowhere near the £7m 'confirmed' by Blues at the time, or the £6.4m that was widely quoted in the days after the deal was completed.

Midfielder O'Hara cost them £3.5m, well below the £5m reported when he signed from Tottenham.

Reports suggested Blues had initially wanted staggering £14m for Johnson before dropping their price to £10m then £9m.

Batth has gone to sheffield wednesday on loan again. I wish we'd give him some senior squad time, even just coming on as a sub. The experience he needs to be useful to us won't come from league one. It's different football from the premier league.

Johnson cost 10.5 believe me...not 4mil why would brum knock 10mil off the asking price it doesn't make sense.19 other prem teams would have bitten the brummie hands off for such a player.....we wanted wolves to spend and now they have all you fans try to de-nigh it can't do right for doing wrong....

Are you serious?
Do you recognise that it is all different people saying stuff on here? We don't all want they same thing, I for one liked the signing of Johnson (who was not 10.5 mil) but would have liked to see Batth on the bench.

Wolves are a well run club and they don't have a bottomless pit. Understood. I never want to see us do a Leeds or a Pompey etc and I know we can't buy everyone we are linked with, BUT, there are some good players going really cheap that I believe we should be in for. Wallace - Scottish international, LB, young, hungry and obtainable (now at Rangers unfortunately). Eagles - good squad player, DJ Campbell - good player, squad player - these are just a few examples. People will disagree saying we don't need these roles - but a bigger squad is always needed to cover injuries and suspensions and competition for places. We have not really sorted our team for this season - we have basically the same as last year which means relegation fight. I'm not a Wolves knocker - I love my team and I don't want debt. But I don't want championship football again, because if we did go down and didn't go straight back up - it's a slippery slope and a lot of our big name players would go. Invest moderately Wolves and lets push for a mid-table finish and a good cup run.

Where you been eagles was sold to bolton last week.....

If it is accurate what E and S state that McCarthy turned down Wallace at 900,000, then he is on a sticky wicket. If he doesn't sort out this position and we are struggling at the back, it could be curtains

Has anyone seen Wallace play? How can we tell that he's better than Ward or Elokobi. He's been playing for a slightly better than average team in a below average league. He may well have been the answer, we don't know but I'd prefer to see a proven LB. Bridge would be my first choice but Ridgewell will do at a push. We know they are both up to PL football - who knows if Wallace would be.

Too right - Does anyone actually know anything about him apart from everyone wanting to splash the cash at someone they don't know - Did anyone watch Rangers - Malmo last night? I don't think we missed out too much

we should try and get wayne bridge he didnt go to america with man city i suppose its down to his wages or get him on loan for the year and pay half his wages and man city pay the other half just an idea wolves forever

You know what lads, I can understand the baggies fans having a dig at us'afterall they are a pretty strong team now and did well last season, but the thing is they still ain't as big a club as WWfc'and that's fact, now as for "blouse"that's a different thing completely They win 1 thing of worth, and get relegated, let's be honest they ain't exactly a shining light of midland's football are they, so for any blue noses, having a chip' check the record books and the relative histories of midland clubs in order for you to understand just where you come in the pecking order'it won't be good reading but it might just be worth your while remembering you ain't worth or won s**t
Now getting back to more important things'concerning the left back situation'its pretty fair to say that if we don't get some sort of quality in that position before the season starts'I think its pretty fair to say that we will be in a delegation scrap come Christmas, no need for strikers or midfielders, just get the back sorted Mick

"Dann definitely not moving to Wolves unlike Johnson has European aspirations and not a relegation battle - Johnson's move was a panic and he now regrets missing out on Everton or Villa." - OK lets see Dann has already been involved in a relegation battle also how far do you expect BCFC get in Europe ?, no where.They now have a shell of a team that got RELEGATED.Jerome & Dann will move on.SO KRO you sad bitter blue nose or possibly baggie.How are the baggies doing in keeping their star forward ? and a possible loan of Foster ha ha you lot are a joke.Sad Bitter and just jealous that Wolves have bigger and better aspirations than you lot.
Gibo.

Well said Gibbo

Well said

If Dann comes in then that is top news but IMO i can't c it happening.
Get Ayala and Johnson in anyway as they are valid inclusions and are sure to get 15+ matches this season. As for a left back..... Please, please get one

26 Jul 2011 10:30:51
Just heard we are preparing to spend some decent money on a well know left back, sorry got to get up now alarms going off

Fact. Johnson and Dann were one of the best CD partnerships in the Prem last season. If Dann hadn't of got injured, I hate to say it but, Blues would probably have avoided relegation. Shame.

Have you seen him embarras arsharvin? pure quality he is better than Jarvis was at that age also he scored a few crackers from distance.

I agree but you have to be careful when it comes to youtube it can make some rubbish players look world class.
Gibo.

If Danns the man then so be it, if MM and co think so. If not maybe we should be aiming for a proven leader (captain) for the next couple of seasons on and off the field to achieve a level of consistency, and leadership for the team, then maybe Johnson can take up the mantle and lead the club to the next step in our progression. Maybe this means overspending maybe not who knows, but today football is a gamble, but with the right people running the club as we have now it can be achieved sensibly.

Ed im hoping wolves will sign upson hes slow but experienced and also ebanks blake going the other way it bullcrap don't you reckon, why would wolves sell him when theyve got 3 first team strikers really in doyle fletcher and ebanks so if anything they need to get rid of keogh and that or play hemmings or spray or maybe winnall more to turn them into great prospects, what do you think? {Ed001's Note - Upson is unattached, why would anyone go the other way to sign a free agent?}
