Spiers tweeting that bodvarsson going to reading on permanent deal.

Sad if true, he gave his all for Wolves but did not get the service from the hoof and hope defenders and midfield. No striker will score when having to chase the ball into the corners. Things should be better this season but still have some of the average players left at the club.

It's a shame as I think he would have improved with better players around him, but his first touch is woeful. As we're looking at a better class of player out of the recognised strikers he's the weakest.

14 Jul 2017 07:34:58
Shame, great attitude, ran his socks off for us, could have been a Wolves legend - if only he could score goals! I wish him all the best at Reading. Would love to see the young man succeed ( but obviously not against us) .

13 Jul 2017 18:46:08
Come on Big Jeff get us two quality strikers. 👍.

13 Jul 2017 18:10:14
Yoan gouffran out of contract at Newcastle apparently in limbo would anyone take him here as I would especially in the 343 with the narrow 3 and would definitely score goals at this level.

13 Jul 2017 18:32:25
No thanks. Massive underperformer and nowhere near as good as what we already have.

13 Jul 2017 20:31:13
Not on your life, need quality now not quantity.

13 Jul 2017 21:45:25
Personally not keen on gouffran. would prefer the. A A. (afobe-aboubakar) . there certain to get us started 😁😁😁😁.

tim nash reporting marshall now ruled out for 3 months. not the initial week.

Watched the live stream of the game, a lot positives tbh, thought boly looked good maybe would be better on the right than left, but has a bit of pace and very good defensively anyway that doesn't think this about boly watched a different game to me

Douglas looked good down the left linked well with Cav and has great left foot and also good defensively

Dicko looked sharp and his finish was him of his old self and I have a feeling he'll score goals next season we still need another striker of course but I still feel he'll score goals

Coady wow solid in the sweeper role and did not shut up and is real leader and I feel he could be really good alongside boly and Miranda tbh

Doc I really think that RWB suits him and I wouldn't be letting him go anywhere

Just a few other points

Good to see zyro back he was very rusty but as he plays more he'll get better

Price was probably the best player on the pitch how ever I still feel that Saïss and neves will be too CMs with price as cover

And some of the football we played was great and the movement and I feel the signings we have made are good and can only see us doing well next season under Nuno I don't think we're going to concede many goals as I think the game showed And I think we will score goals.

Dont get me wrong I like Price but he plays too safe for me - lateral passes rarely splitting defences and never scores. He's young, so loan him out he needs to play every week to improve and he will get few chances. We need a play maker it's not Price and its not Edwards either. As far as I'm aware Neves is a defensive midfielder so its not him either.

Right on the money matt didn't watch my self but wos reading live notes and bearing in mind that wos our first game as a team and wermer 3rd friendly very few mistakes with coulpe more games teams will definitely fear us we will see what is it 3rd game of season that damn derby fc smashed us last what 4-5 games if we beat them there will certainly be a lot of belief around iam for one looking forward to see who else comes just wished they were out with team know.

As it seems after Werderbeergone that Dicko might enjoy a return to form under Nuno and the new system, maybe only one striker needed. Go get Vincent Aboubakar, he's the man. His choice is relegation with Swansea ( especially if Sigurdson goes) or promotion with Wolves and a long term future. No contest.

Interesting to read the commentary of that game.

Coady seemed to be the player in charge of play - although Batth was captain.

Price was used as kind of a solo CDM in the first half and played brilliantly, with Saiss and Coady to his flanks. He was tested in a pivotal position in this 3-man midfield, where we might expect the more attacking Edwards or now Neves to play.

Dicko looked good too, not only because he scored but because he was battling at the front.

Doc, Douglas and Boly all performed well at the back, making good runs.

Zyro and Cav both seemed to have quiet games. (Half games) .

Could be a surprise teamsheet against Boro, with more old guard than we might have expected.

Or is one friendly in an Austrian valley too little to go by?

13 Jul 2017 09:39:24
I think so far, so good. One game doesn't define a player and Dicko scoring doesn't mean he will score 20+ this season. Its a good start, but just a start to build on. Any player returning back from a torn ACL will need the remainder of the season to get back on track, hopefully he is there.

Match fitness won't be there yet and the players are out of rhythm with each other and themselves, it will click big time soon.

A win is a win and we move on.

13 Jul 2017 10:06:03
Price did see a lot of the ball but he seems too focused on lateral low risk passes - he does not seem to have defence splitting passes in his portfolio - surely we will need that! For me we sitll need a class attacking misfielded and a big target man up front. Boly impressed the most IMO.

13 Jul 2017 10:40:03
North Bank62, that's what we have Neves for. He and Ronan (and possibly Marshall) can play the defence splitting passes and Price can break things up and play to them. I would rather have him in than Saiss doing that role.

Interesting to see Coady play centre-half. I didn't see that one coming. Definitely need to keep Doc and move Batth on.

13 Jul 2017 11:56:37
Price and Coady are playing for their futures. Doc and Batth too but as there's transfer interest in them the pressure is probably less.

If Price and Coady can hold their places in a Nuno team then they could be the surprises of the season. That makes it hard for Saiss and Oniangue (who isn't in Austria) and even Edwards because presumably Neves, Costa, Cav and Graham will all be presuming they're first choice too. We could play 4-6-0 I suppose!

13 Jul 2017 14:08:25
My understanding is that nuno intends to use saiss as the defensive midfielder to break up the play and change neves role to attacking midfielder. Reason being neves range of passing he wants to utilise in a more positive way. So maybe either saiss or price vying for the one position . Could well suite price breaking up the play rather than having to be the creator.
