does anyone accually no how solbakken deals with transfers weather it open or closed weather he likes experience or youth i no he plays with attacking full backs so id expect doherty to start n us to have a new left back

He likes open weather. The wind and rain sweeping in from the Cradley Heath fjords reminds him of home.

So you're saying Ward is not an attacking full back?

In Solbakken we trust.

Lol, personally speaking, I dont believe Ward is a full-back! He's a centre-forward (and not a very good one, either!)

He looks more like an attacking wide midfielder to me.

OK, Ward = Total Football :-)

Just to say, the issue may be less about the man himself - Solbakken - who is to be appointed manager but more about the background to the appointment.

A couple of questions arise in this regard:

why announce 4 - 5 days before the official presentation?
why does he not take up office until 1 July, 6 - 7 weeks (crucial weeks) after the "appointment"?
What will he be doing in the interim?
Is there a DoF on the way? What will his role be, especially in the period 14 May - 1 July?
How will a new DoF work with the new manager, with an existing assistant manager (TC) and the current CE (Moxey)? after 1 July and before?
Is it a blind or does Solbakken have a prior commitment with Norwegian national team?

Enough to be going on with and I got a feeling we're not out of the woods on this one by a long chalk.

Interesting times ahead, let's hope not chaotic, but you can see why some folk might still have concerns.

Moxey tried to appoint McDermott and got the wrong bald guy. (Shhhh. He still doesn't know).

Yes why july 1

Could it be something to do with the re-employment/compensation terms of his termination at Cologne?
But it's probably down to Moxey so he can save 6 weeks wages!

Well his contract at koln proberly wasnt up till the 30th of jume so theres your answer happy

Why announce 4 - 5 days before the official presentation?
The news was out. Papers had story and forums were talking about it. You cannot keep anything a secret for 4-5 days now.

why does he not take up office until 1 July, 6 - 7 weeks (crucial weeks) after the "appointment"?
One of two reasons. a. He was originally contracted to FCKoln until 31st of July and if he starts with Wolves before then he would lose out on compensation or b. Jez Money does not want to pay a manager for six weeks when he does not have too.

What will he be doing in the interim?
He's not paid by the hour! This is a highly paid job. Regardless of the fact that he has not got a wage coing from Wolves before 1st July I expect he will be studying Wolves matches, scouting, working on tactics, studying opposition, etc.

Is there a DoF on the way? Doubt it. The 2Ms will expect Slobakken to run the show.
They will!

What will his role be, especially in the period 14 May - 1 July?
No DoF.

How will a new DoF work with the new manager, with an existing assistant manager (TC) and the current CE (Moxey)? after 1 July and before?
No DoF, get over it.

I understand your point about a DoF, but it's an expensove luxury that the 2M's will not pay for.

Is it a blind or does Solbakken have a prior commitment with Norwegian national team? There is never a deal. I'm sure he would earn more at Wolves than Norway but if he succeds at Wolves, who knows. Lets hope.

1 July sounds something boringly contractual regarding old club. Or could be as simple as M wanting to save 6 weeks wages. Or even simpler - he's asked for a break before starting full-on at Wolves (I hope).

Thanks to the poster for doing the question x questions response, appreciated even if I don't wholly agree. PS not pushing the DoF idea myself I just think it might happen if Moxey is going to move left of centre. One step at a time, but a lot of reorganisation beckons.

At least he has something in common with Doyler.

Y is everyone already slagging off Stale. GIVE HIM A CHANCE AND FULLY SUPPORT HIM WEN HE DOES COME HERE!!

This could be a brilliant moveand he will get a very good welcome from me.

Nice to hear Hodgson singing solbakken's praises.

I think this is an absolutely superb appointmennt.

Shows imagination and hopefully foresight. But we just don't know. Exciting times ahead. (As I said in another post, we hadn't really heard of Wenger or Mourinho till they came over here!!)

O'Hara has been vehemently defending the new manager on twitter after R Johnson was pretty rude saying that he'd never heard of him -
"@mrjamieohara: Have to be honest And say think it's very disrespectful to say they don't know who the manager is when he's won 4 league titles and a cup"

"@mrjamieohara: Got Copenhagen into the quarter finals of the champions league and played for his country, I'm sure he knows what he's doing"

- he was then quick to deny that it was a jibe at Johnson later posting -

"@mrjamieohara: For people talking about feuds is ridiculous for one roger Johnson is one of my best friends outside football, just saying I knew who he was"

I already said that I'd read on other forums that O'Hara was telling people at the End of Season Dinner that he was staying. It's sounding more and more like JOH is staying, plus with a young family just settling down this makes a lot of sense for him + he should rip the champ apart.
DB

I think 99.9% of people haven't heard of him but looking on YouTube at some of his dressing room team talks I'd be worried for anyone not pulling their weight next season

Sounds like he wants to stay tbh hope that jarvo fletch and doyler do the same. im quite surprised as i thought JOH would be one of the first out with what happend with the fans

You under estimate JOH he is not a quitter unlike some of the other dead beats

Interesting that a change of manager can bring out the best in some players while others get worse. Players who were Mick's Picks like Hunt and Johnson (Mick went the extra mile to get some players) may find Stale isn't for them.
