Allardyce must be the best manager for teams in crisis he has saved or promoted so many. Some pundits saying Martinez will lose his job at Everton I hope that's not lost on Wolves execs either.

Am I the only person who isn't bothered by the money shop!?!

Why does everyone have such a big issue with it? Please some sensible replies.

11 May 2016 21:19:06
I personally wasn't going to buy a strip out off principal, not just that its money shop as sponser but because 13000 fans have been ignored. This is our club not moxeys, owners and chairmen will come and go, the fans will always be here. Out of interest does anyone know if we are playing our home games at the KC stadium next season? Seeing as we'll be wearing they're strip?!

If you read down this board (Banter and Rumours pages) there's lots of explanations. In brief, things like it conflicts with WWFC as a family club that cares about its community (and so with SJH's and SM's legacies) and as a financially prudent club that lives within its means.

It also compromises Wolves heritage and identity as an inclusive heroic attractive glam club, because Moneyshop sponsorship is cynical / sold out, class defined / class limited, some of Wolves current and potential reach won't be willing to associate with it, so it reduces the range of people the club can appeal to for support and revenue and in order to grow (it's a glass ceiling that would make WWFC an urban local only club, like Baggies are) . It also threatens to harm the image of Wolverhampton to the region, maybe even Nation, by branding it as a broken pay-day loan society, which threatens to harm it's chances of regenerating. And it will crash shirt and merchandising sales, etc.

But most of all, because it's apparently small change and so is unnecessary, and because it divides some fans from club and some fans from other fans, at a time the club is already stressed (and for sale, and needs to be as unified and positive as possible) . Our club knew no division, but Moneyshop is one.

And all of that makes the club less saleable.

and btw, I'm not criticising or hating on fans who buy the shirt, if some don't feel disenfranchised by it fine, I wish I didn't mind either and could enjoy it, but I can't get away from what I can see Wolves could be if it's identity was managed well, this is exactly wrong direction and threatens the really good stuff.

You make some great points Ulf. Why would you go for such a controversial sponsor at a time when, the club is up for sale and the team are under performing? Getting a little more money will always come first for moxey.

11 May 2016 21:59:45
Apart from all that, it's awful!

11 May 2016 22:00:33
Thank you for the response Ulf, I at least have some understanding as to why people may not like the money shop, very much appreciated.

I'm afraid it doesn't change my view of the whole thing but I can see where some are coming from I suppose.

11 May 2016 22:25:36
Well if Moneyshop doesn't get dropped and assuming I go from being angry about it to sulking so I end up trying not to support them next season - make sure you give the players an occasional cheer from me (but not Moxey. I'd suggest you should throw stuff at him but I've seen in the zoo, it's not allowed, whatever it is he'd probably eat it) :-)

11 May 2016 16:49:32
Well that's the new kit then, shame the junior option isn't available in adult sizes, the junior one would look betterr if the stripes were all continuous but is that a Moxey payback, the 13000 signatures have been ignored, like the shirt but will not be buying one, how many others will boycott it too. MOXEY OUT NOW. He is ruining our club.

11 May 2016 19:41:29
I like it. Will be buying. Couldn't care less who's on the front as long as we get some money from them. Don't see why everyone is crying over it.

11 May 2016 20:52:13
completely agree with above post.
the sponsor represents the club officials like moxey rather than the fans and the club's performance.
could say the same about the doritos sponsorship promoting unhealthy eating but no one moaned then ey.

11 May 2016 21:19:41
'Don't see why everyone is crying over it'

What a sweeping generalisation that statement is!

Personally, I won't be purchasing a shirt sponsored by that particular company.

However, its all about your believes and principles at the end of the day!

Each to their own.

11 May 2016 22:05:00
Didn't mean to offend Chasetown, I didn't understand why a proportion of people were so bothered by it, as Ulf has given me a detailed explanation, I do know understand some fans annoyance to the Money Shop

To me. It's still just a source or revenue, no one even notices shirt sponsors anymore. For instance no one says anything about Leeds not even having one, or hulls Flamingo Land! One team even had Pornhub!

11 May 2016 22:49:39
Hembico, no offence taken; the sponsorship deal is a serious issue with over 13000 individuals signing an on-line petition against the deal.

These individuals had obviously taken notice of the sponsorship deal! There is a principle involved here and the hierarchy at the club need to take into consideration the views and wishes of all supporters.

Something which I feel is sadly lacking at present!

12 May 2016 06:59:09
Club had chance compromise but instead said if adult and want shirt have to have sponsor having had 24hrs to adjust will admitt it is decent but tms on front has ruined it a plain no sponsor option would look v smart and could been best selling shirt to date but what fans care about not matter so no purchase from me afraid.

12 May 2016 09:47:39
hembico, I think it's like this:

Everyone here follows Wolves, and for many it's more than that, we're part of the journey too both in terms of how much we're paying and how our moods are affected etc.

We follow Wolves because, well, who knows. But we don't have any emotional association with Money Shop and probably no positive financial one either, unless we own shares in them (unlikely) . So why would we want to wear a Money Shop shirt? If we think of it as a Money Shop shirt with Wolves livery rather than the other way round we probably wouldn't go near it. Money Shop shirts are for Money Shop reps at exhibition stands. I don't identify with that at all.

The shirt connects us both to Wolves and Money Shop. You buy the shirt, you get both.

Maybe there's a niche market in "upgrade kits" to be made, iron-on patches to hide the Money Shop logo?

Round, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.

Could have been written for this site lately! 🙊🙈🙉.

That took me a bit to work out, very good :-) Too good to improve on with another song offering (that I can think of, that isn't a disturbing instrumental) . So how about instead, in honour of Moxey signing Moneyshop.

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Out of darkness cometh Moxey with a red light!

11 May 2016 13:29:43
Wolves are being bought by a consortium involving Ding Lei, Glenn Hughes, Robbie Keane, Kevin Muscat, John Grayken, Paul Allen, JLR and a couple of unknown Indians. They are taking out a £100 loan from the Moneyshop to fund the deal. Bob Laslett is fronting the deal, even though he doesn't know it yet.

A press conference is being called anywhere from tomorrow until 2018.

Geewolf, keep an eye out for an Adams Tour bus pulling up outside Molineux. Glenn's driving so watch out. You know what rockstars are like.

And if that does happen I promise never to post again.

11 May 2016 14:08:59
And Moxey will be chairman and get his own statue. It will be animated, like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man, and sort out people selling tat merchandise outside the club that hasn't got Moneyshop on.

11 May 2016 19:11:16
Clivewolves,
I'd come in on that deal, but too many chiefs and not enough Indians for my liking.
