Lets face it , at the end of last season did we really expect just a back up keeper and a defender. it was on the cards with Ohara. Its going to be another relegation struggle NOT a top ten place.

So if its going to be another relegation struggle - live with it. We are progressing, if we cut out just three or four stupid goals from last season then we are a lot closer to top ten than people seem to realise. Johnson will help us with cutting out those three or four goals.

At the other end of the field O'Hara will likely get three or four more himself, so some of those losses we had might become draws making us even closer to the top ten.

Why always the glass half empty pessimism? And this from the eternal pessimist

Wolves. Truth is, as I have said before, we are not much stonger than last year. If we have some injuries to key players, we will struggle. I think people need to get off George Elokobi's back, too. I admit, the first season in the prem he looked awful. Last season he wasn't too bad. Sometimes - like against Chelsea he was superb, sometimes he looked awful. I think he will come good this year. He is first choice with Ward as back-up. GUYS, get used to it. If we have some injuries this seaon, MM will buy in Jan. Expect another bumpy ride - but I think we will scrape it. Wouldn't have minded Palacious and Keane at Mol, either. Doddy.

Elokobi will continue to improve as a player and achieve better consistency with each game he gets in the PL. Will never be a great LB but surely he is better than Lee Naylor who we lived with for quite a few seasons?

Here's a thought - Doyle goes to Arsenal/Spurs for £10m, we pick up Keane for £4m (if he truly wants to play rather than collect a wage cheque every week) and we have another £6m in the remaining pot of about £4m to try and woo Dann or similar to bolster the defence. Still lots of time for the signing of players.

So with the poor transfer activity,
what three teams do fans think are
seriously weaker than Wolves?, let's
stop talking ridiculous top 10,
because with the squad we have
it's just fancy talk. I would settle
for a last day scenario again,
unfortunately.

You are clearly a baggie fan , it is easy to tell from you're previous posts.

I'm a wolves fan, i asked a question

What I find hard to believe, is Stoke taking on Woodgate and Upson - YES I KNOW Upson not great, but he is GOOD COVER. They have made bids for Palacious and Crouch - PALACIOUS is a good, young hungry player who fits the Wolves model. Why are we so far behind the likes of Stoke City? We are as big if not bigger than they are? There buys' say 'we want to stay in the prem'. Our buys are more 'lets hope we stay up'. I am a BIG Wolves fan, but we do NEED more cover in certain injuries. Like I said before, Johnson gets injured and we are back to last years team who SCRAPED survival. Let's get some cover. I would have loved Woodgate at Mol. Doddy.

If you are a Wolves fan why below were you clearly bragging about the baggies signing Long ? the question/statement are formatted in the same style.

Very easy to name at least three teams worse than Wolves this coming season (at least on paper): Norwich, QPR, Swansea, Wigan, Blackburn are all obviously worse on paper.

Yes we scraped survival last year but that was in probably the most even PL seen ever, despite some serious injury issues and giving away daft goals in the last five minutes of games on what 7 occasions that cost us wins and draws. Cut out just three of those goals and we have another six points which puts us magically close to the top half of the table.

The PL will be slightly weaker this year as none of the promoted teams have exactly set the world on fire with their signings and neither Wigan nor Blackburn have demonstrably improved at all. Who have we lost from last season? No one that really matters and have brought in a better reserve keeper and a substantially better centre back, plus have a great central midfielder for a whole season instead of half a season. Yes, injuries could hurt but they will hurt every other team too.

Fact is Stoke are in Europe which is liable to tip decisions in their favour, they are a slightly more established PL club (like it or not its a fact) and are just as big a club as Wolves (like it or not). They would have a slightly better financial position than us with money from Europe etc so can probably afford slightly higher wages too which tips the balance further in their favour (again like it or not).

Stoke have their plan and are working to it, we have our plan and are working to it. So far the 3Ms have delivered on the plan and I can see no good reason (all things being equal) why they won't deliver again this season. Realistically we are not that far away from being a top ten team, perhaps two players whom will likely be seen in the 2012/2013 season. If we end up 14th or 15th this year then I will still be a very happy fan. Heck I would take 17th every year without complaining... every year more in the PL is a plus irrespective of how tight it might get at times in comparison to the doldrums we could have still been in but for SJH and now the 3Ms.

Ian {Ed001's Note - do you ever wonder just where the club might be now if Dave Jones had been allowed to replace Lescott after the club won promotion under him? It could be Wolves in European competition and a long-established Premier League side, not Stoke.}

If we Evan did sign uPson you think he would come as cover erm I don't think so n keane is on 60 grand a week he would have to take a big pay cut n anyway we don't need a striker anyway tbh palacios wouldn't come cus he would want more than he's on at spurs think people should get more realistic players as much as these are good players (except upson) I just doubt they would come

Trouble is Doddy, wolves arnt going to pay ridiculous wages for players to sit on the bench for cover. Woodgate and Upson both demand huge wages, thats not the Wolves way. We are the best run club in the country for a reason. But i do agree we need strength in depth.

Stokes wage structure is £40,000 the same as what Johnson is on. They where looking at someone but they wouldn't go for for him cus of his wages unless he was willing to take a paycut but wasn't can't remember the player in question. Reason players like woodgate and Upson going there is European football. So we can battle with stokes wage offers but not the lucrative Europa league.
