See we are being linked with Harrison Reed on loan - good player but not sure we need another central midfielder unless we're going to play Saiss and Prince in defence (which they can play but look better in midfield) .

So much for the bookies saying we were favourites to land Louis Alberto. Just about to go Lazio and I thought he favoured a move back to Spain.

2.) 29 Aug 2016 18:44:23
I reckon we could have got Alberto and it's the same story with Bjarnason who's available for £5 million, Darbo. I'm really not sure why the club are so hesitant in spending money if they are serious about getting into the Premier league this year. They will fall short due to those sorts of decisions.

3.) 29 Aug 2016 18:55:19
Never believed the Alberto link anyway. I'm sure there'll be new faces but they're not likely to be ones mentioned in 'links' or players that are good on FIFA.

4.) 29 Aug 2016 19:02:56
No doubt they thought the same about Sako who was available for £6 million. They obviously decided to save money and bring O John in on a freebie instead. Very strange from a company supposedly worth £50 billion.

5.) 29 Aug 2016 20:55:10
Not strange at all Wavidsmith because Wolves are just one of dozens of acquisitions made by Fosun over the past two years. My assessment is that they have ringfenced an amount to pump into club funds for player purchases/ loans and wages and this is perhaps evidenced by the amounts being spent to date which have been in the range of up to £2 million or so.
To my mind some of the players mentioned on this site have been laughable because there is no chance of a quality player demeaning himself (in his or his agents minds;not my view you understand) by playing for a championship club. Perhaps we could attract a quality player coming to the end of his career but that's a very dangerous game because for every Paul Ince there's a Tony Daley, Geoff Thomas, Darren Anderton, etc. No way will Fosun want to be the Chinese version of Sir Jack's golden tit
They are far too savvy for that!

6.) 29 Aug 2016 22:03:15
Well said Old Wulf.

7.) 29 Aug 2016 23:51:12
We aren't just an investment acquisition of Fosun's, we've been bought because we're a perfect fit with Chinese corporate / enterprising wolf culture which is what they're all about, and as a leading champion identity of their entire group, in China and to rest of the World. They're not investing to sell us on, they intend for us to be a success for themselves and representative of them.

But because it's all about being enterprising and shrewd, like wolves, they'll do stuff carefully, it's a survival of the fittest thing, they mean for us to be fit and real not fat and spoiled. They do mean though for us to be a proper success.

8.) 30 Aug 2016 07:50:33
I don't disagree with what you say Ulf but in terms of monetary investment into the Wolves, Fosun will clearly not be throwing the cash around like confetti which is what some contributors seem to be hoping for. Shrewd sums it up aptly and the bulk of the names being mentioned would not fall into the shrewd category. Also they clearly have set limits for expenditure otherwise we wouldn't be seeing so many cheaper end of the market or loan deals.

9.) 30 Aug 2016 12:20:40
Shrewd is the key word that a few of you have already mentioned. They stated from the outset that 20 - 30 million would be their target spend for the first 2 years - more if needed, and to be fair they are currently sticking to their word. They have a business plan and that doesn't involve flinging ludicrous amounts of cash around on players that, if they're worth the values being spoken about would NOT be plying their trade in the championship. If this business plan works and we are lucky enough to be promoted over the next two years THEN we can expect to see the arrival of ludicrously priced players - but even then I believe they are too shrewd to be taken for mugs.

Uh oh - Neves off injured against Shrewsbury and we're 1 down.

1.) 22 Jul 2017 15:52:50
Strikers needed desperately, afraid to say even though this is a pre season friendly we don't look very good.

2.) 22 Jul 2017 16:16:02
If we don't sign a striker or strikers, the money spent will be a complete waste.

3.) 22 Jul 2017 16:20:11
2 0 nil down, new team new formation your not going to instant success, judge after 10 games into season.

4.) 22 Jul 2017 16:31:16
So or rogue1 we can't wait ten games, season will be lost again.

5.) 22 Jul 2017 16:52:10
Well I have to speak as I find and this is garbage, shoot me down in flames but all of you who say it's only a pre-season friendly isn't it a pre-season friendly for Shrewsbury aswell.

6.) 22 Jul 2017 17:13:53
The lions was crap in the warm up games but did ok and the end if I remember correct, I have seen teams bottom 3 at Xmas and finish in top 6 so 10 games is not season over, let's just buy another 10 players then as these can't be any good, panic panic panic lol.

7.) 22 Jul 2017 17:43:53
2 weeks from the big ko and we put in a non performance like this, worried isn't the right word, terrified is better after the money splashed out.

08 Jul 2017 08:48:25
See Neves is on the away kit launch!

Bristol City offer £5 mill for Mason, 4 weeks ago I suspect most fans would have snapped their hands off.

Now he's showing his potential I think we'd want double that at least (although personally I would refuse to sell at any price other than something crazy like £20 mill)

Are HITC just linking us to everyone who may consider coming to England and aren't happy with their current team - they are now suggesting we should sign Ravel Morrison.

He might be talented but his charcter is seriously flawed so unless he wants to play for pittance or on a "pay as you play" deal then NO just NO!

Wolfflea

1.) 17 Aug 2016 22:43:08
With all these rumours linking us to players, HITC keeping mentioning players allegedly linked to us or players we should sign. And we keep going on their site in numbers enabling them to charge more to clients who advertise on their site - increased click through rate = higher ad fees.

2.) 18 Aug 2016 00:35:39
Exactly MWP. These sites see gullible fans desperate for this or that is going to sign and we all trot off to their site looking at what is often a load of rollocks just to get more money.
Never heard of these sites until Fosun took over now we are buying or loaning half of the players in the World.

I'm not convinced KJ is staying I think he's still a stop gap whilst new owners find a replacement for both him and Moxey. In no part of the Jeff Shi interview does he say KJ is the boss they want just that he has had two discussions about the squad with KJ and they agree that it is unbalanced and short of a few numbers. I'd actually like KJ to be given a chance with some new recruits but I think the club is still looking for a new manager.

Wolfflea

1.) 25 Jul 2016 23:08:36
I agree. Until such time we have to go with the flow. We need some stability. Cannot change the whole structure at once. We need to bide our time and get it right. I'm sure they will get the right coach/ manager as and when they are available. There targets may already be with a club and involve compensation. That takes time.

2.) 26 Jul 2016 01:20:18
Cant agree more, Fosun were geared up for Lopetegui, They want a high profile appointment, Jackett does not match that criteria, neither would the others mentioned as possible replacements ie Bruce or Martinez.

As soon as the right replacement is found then then it will be Bye Bye to KJ, Without a replacement they had no choice but to run with him.

Upwards and onward.

I disagree - other than Lonergan letting two go straight through him we looked reasonably comfortable. Lacked bite going forward though.

Sidney - there is no loan window now until the transfer window re-opens in January.

Summer-wolf, Chrs Martin would prefer to stay local rather than have to move his family so London factor may work against Fulham.

Wolabby - I disagree, Enobakhare and Ennis aren't ready yet if they play more than 5 championship matches this season I'll be surprised (I actually doubt they'll play any other than maybe for experience at end of the season if nothing left to aim for) . I also think we need a pacey forward instead of or as cover for Dicko (chris martin is obv not this person as he's more like Bodvarson/ Gladon) .
So basically I'd like another forward and at least one central defender (although it's possible to play Borthwick-Jackson there or full back) .

Give the guy a chance, 4 in 24 is a bit misleading (20 were sub appearances), he's started 5 games this season and scored 3 already (so 20 a season sounds very possible) .

He could be a star but needs to learn to play with his left foot the best defenders will always cope if he cuts back onto right foot all the time.

I bet PT does - or maybe he'll change his mind again as I seem to remember him stating what great appointment Lambert was. But I guess no manager deserves time and support unless they win every game.

CBJ would not be sold for less than £7 mill (on potential alone) and I suspect Teixeira and Costa would cost around £5 mill each. Ola John would be around £4mill and Stearman around £2mill.
