Sako and Edwards out of the team, Golborne LM with Stearman coming back in to defence. Griff and Doyle up front. Henry also playing, so Davis not coming back.

Could be quite a different feel to the Wolves midfield today.

McWulf

1.) 05 Oct 2013 17:02:32
Not seen the match but looked at the tv updates. Henry won the penalty and assisted both goals. Looks like a great signing for us already. How did Golborne get on in the Sako role?

2.) Great result today. U21s murdered Reading 4-0 last week and the U18s won away today. What a great feeling to have a first team playing well (I assume they did today) and young talent in the background

3.) Well done KJ and Wolves, another 3 points!;) Paul Tamworth

4.) 05 Oct 2013 20:53:10
Bloody Sako throwing another sicky. I knew we should've sold him. If he wants to go, just let him. Forest have twice offered the money we asked for and twice we've ended up pulling the plug. Now the player is clearly unsettled. Forest haven't once gone to the press, it's always been us, Why? Stupid.

Take £4m and let KJ reinvest it.

5.) If any Wolves fan is doubting Fawazs wealth at Forest just enter his name into Youtube and watch late Kick Off! Shhhhh!

6.) OK, admittedly not bothered to check out late Kick Off. He may be loaded but he's not spending his money at Forest!

7.) 06 Oct 2013 15:31:00
If Sako isn't well then he doesn't play simple. And Forest haven't met our valuation or we woukd have sold him. Unless you know something we don't.

8.) Forest have met valuation 3 times but Wolves keep moving the goalpost and that is why the player is getting annoyed. Should be sorted this week.

9.) 06 Oct 2013 20:00:21
You don't know that, only what the E&S have speculated. Sako has his price and if someone offers it, Wolves will sell. Clearly Forest haven't offered enough, and in business valuations change all the time anyway, up and down.

10.) Then you wanted a loan fee as well as Jamie Paterson. Sako isn't worth that much!

11.) Why do Wolves keep going to the press, wait until the deal is done, if there is no deal then just keep quiet and don't unsettle the player and the rest of the team, also the fans!

I really think the board are trying to engineer the deal and move Sako on. Like one of the above posters have said, Forest have not gone to the press once. There is a right and a wrong way to do business and Moxey is going about it all wrong.

The player wants to move on and Wolves could do a lot with that sort of money.

12.) Sako set to strike, think wolves have conducted themselves very badly, the valuation was met, the player wants the move then all of a sudden you want an additional 1m loan fee, Patterson on loan and on top of that you make negotiations public presumably to alert other clubs in order for one to maybe meet your over valuation. Think the player has been professional thus far, when valuation not met during transfer Window he accepted that and has played his heart out, now the club are using him and he has every right to be annoyed that they are not showing the same professional manner

13.) 07 Oct 2013 07:23:36
I think you will find thst the rumours came first and the press comment after. Maybe Wolves could have handled things differently in the press but that doesn't alter the fact that they will sell Sako once a certain price is met, which neither you nor I know the value of.

14.) Wolves said in the summer we wanted 4 million. As far as I am aware the most Forest have bid is 3.5. Wolves broke off negotiations last week saying that Forest keep changing the goal posts and what Wolves offer as some way of mediation is unacceptable to Forest. As for Wolves conducting it in the media there has been a constant trickle of media speculation ever since the summer that Forest would try again. Or are we to believe Wolves have kept releasing statement to the press that Forest might 1 day come back with another offer. Simple fact is he is our player Forest either have to match our valuation or clear off and stop trying to force a sale by unsettling the player.

15.) £5m is a trivial sum of money to us. Bear in mind that there is no third party debt at Wolves thanks to the magic of Moxey and Morgan. We also have the magic of the parachute payments to prop the club up through the lower leagues. We've got rid of 90% of our high earners and come in well below the SCMP threshold. We're not on the verge of administration as our friends in West Bridgford seem to be hoping. The bottom line is, pay up or clear off.

16.) No-one at forest hopes the Wolves are heading for administration, if that is the case they simply ain't football fans. This is just an example of your team wanting to hold onto one of the best players you have and quite understandable.
The new owner is quite canny and not wanting to throw money around signing people on stupid contracts and proving a point that he's not a mug. My fellow reds seem to think we're loaded but our new owner seems to have a bit of a brain and won't be held to ransom which is quite reassuring to say the least.
Good luck with the season.

17.) Hit the nail on the head there. We don't want to sell one of our best players, even though deep down he probably does want to go because of the chance of Prem league football. We've valued him at a price, forest want him, but don't want to pay that price and are trying to get gim on a good deal for them. All parties have probably been keeping this going, even Wolves. I bet the thinking is that if he is going to go, we want a good price for him, so they're trying their luck through various channels.

Fact of the matter is, even if you go out and say that's it, we're done talking, you just know people are still talking. Nothing is ever off the table.

Long and short of it is, I reckon Sako will be off in January, no loan until January as Wolves will not have time to cover. Deal will be agreed to go through in Jan and kept private. Player told to be professional with the lure of part of the deal being a bonus for him based on a certain performance level until Jan. Jackett gets time to scout a replacement for purchasing in Jan (don't expect anything like for like though, expect more up and coming types of player).

Various reports about Sam Ricketts coming to Wolves going round the media. If so KJ wants to plug the defence sooner rather than later, and looks like neither Stearman nor Foley will be our first choice RB.

McWulf

1.) Rickets can play both rb and lb,. so doesn't mean stearman or foley won't be 1st choice at all.

2.) I think stearman will play cm alongside bath after a good end to the season at Ipswich

3.) OK so Ward and Elokobi might be snookered out then.

4.) Doherty will be first choice right back

5.) I meant cb not cm. and wards already on transfer list

6.) Good call, I think stearman could play well with batth. wolfy

Well I see Martinez is likely to get the Everton job. So who get's the Wigan job? Steve Bruce maybe? Who gets the Hull job? We're not going to find it easy to attract a decent manager. {Ed011's Note - Sadly I don't see us in the same market for managers as those any more. Maybe for Coyle, but I don't think any of the managers we're looking at will be in the same sphere as the ones that they will be.

McWulf

1.) Why would Steve Bruce go to Wigan from Hull.

2.) We're fishing in a totally different pond now!

3.) Is Mike Bassett free?

4.) If Wigan stay up they will not go for Bruce! If they go down maybe but it would be a stupid decision. They play loveley football with a good team who are used to that way taking Bruce there would be the same effect as us having stale a totally wrong fit to soon

5.) Probably won't, just an example - unless perhaps Wigan stay up. But Wigan will recruit someone decent from another club. Maybe Poyet or Friedman for example.

6.) Especially when he already jumped ship from Wigan to go to Sunderland.

7.) Bruce deserted Wigan twice as manager!. Firstly after 2 months to take over at palace, and later when given the job once more he ditched them to take over at Sunderland! Why would Wigan offer him the job a 3rd time?. the guy is a mercenary and I'm glad we didn't get him as manager, despite our current predicament! Just you watch, he'll ditch hull as soon as a 'better' job is available!

8.) I don't agree, although bruce jumps from job to job if he was our manager we wouldn't be in the state we are in now.

9.) I'm not saying we'd be in the state we are with Bruce in charge, but you could bet he'd have had no reservations about jumping ship as soon as another chairman waved cash in front of his face! He's never one for a long term project, just in it for the money!

10.) Get Cherie Lunghi (The Manageress) as boss!

11.) Good for Bruce then. It's every manager's right to "jump ship" just as it's every owner's right to throw him overboard (to labour the metaphor).

Saunders jumped ship to come to Wolves.

12.) Meant to say Ed, yes, I don't see us signing anyone of that calibre. Why would a proven manager want to play in L1? (OK Sven did a few years ago, but that was unusual).

My point was that any manager punching above his weight would likely get a job at a bigger/better club now that the best job in football has become vacant. Makes it harder for us to get someone in.

08 May 2013 21:29:29
So Moysey is the next Man United manager. Who gets the Everton job? Clarke perhaps? And when this merry-go-round stops, who is left for us? {Ed011's Note - Dean Saunders or Solbakken.

McWulf

1.) Happily have Solbakken Ed.

2.) I hope its Owen Coyle, but I have reservations as to whether he would join us given the circumstances of the last twelve months.

3.) Haha Ed.

Well Saunders doesn't look like he's getting the Man United job nor the Everton job!

Maybe if we take Steve Davis he'll get the Crewe job.

Don't we all just love this speculation.

4.) If Saunders did go to Crewe that would be a guaranteed 6 points for us.

11 Mar 2013 19:43:46
Rumour that we won't be signing anyone on loan tomorrow.

McWulf

1.) Pity he could've been a good player for Dean to use out on our right flank

2.) Know ill get slated for this but Ikeme needs replacing, he's been sussed out, watch our goals conceded, so many are the same he has slow feet and no spring, poor distribution, had we had a top keeper like hennesey things wouldn't be this bad. watch the goals the facts don't lie. change it now deano he ain't up to it.

3.) Ikeme is the least of our worries! We're not creatin enough chances and were missin to many of the few created! Paul Tamworth

4.) Even if we had Buffon or Casillas in goal we'd still be fighting relegation. Ikeme is doing fine.

5.) Have to admit what paul franks said on radio w. m. was spot on, had to laugh, he said for s. ward to do a profesional foul on g. holford who played for we, as got to be bad if ward can't catch him he should hang up is boots, this as been the trouble at wolves giving long contracts to players like ward, henry, foley, bera and now hunt and edwards, no doubt as soon as edwards and hunt sighns they will be out injured again, fans don't want to pay good money to watch these crap players every year who talk a good game, move them on, I for one will not pay good earned money again, as much as I love the wolves, until these crap players have been moved on, because we the fans have been taken for fools since the 2 ms have run this f. c. , sorry to say this but apart from sako and I think siggy will come good, there his nothing in this team that excites me to pay and watch, ohara I also like as player, but even he as under achieved, at this level so far this season, need him badly now to start playing how he can play, because we are running out of games, and it will be disastrous if we were to go down oldgold

6.) My team for Saturday! Ikeme, Robinson, Gorkes, Batth, Doherty, Sako, Ohara, Davies, Siggy, Seb, Cassiddy! Hopefully good enough to get 3 points! Paul Tamworth

7.) SPOT ON! Clearly you're not a manager, just someone who knows about the game. If this team can't manage a win on Saturday it's going to be a long haul back to the Premiership. DJ

8.) I know Johnson has a dodgy past with us wolves fans but I personally feel he has been one of our most consistent performers this year. Always works hard and gives his all. He has also played with Berra for half the season, he would make any centre half look bad. Don't see why people always want him dropped and use him as a scapegoat.

Batth is promising but I'm not sure this is the time to be putting youngsters in, especially at centre half. Same with Cassidy, Siggy is a striker, play him up front! Get peszko or someone similar on the wing (just not Hunt)

9.) Rubbish team. Doomed for League One imo!!
LeicsNewbs

10.) IMO if that team can't beat Bristol City on Saturday we should sack the lot of them! It's Bristol city FFS! Not Barcalona! Paul Tamworth

11.) We couldn't beat a one legged guy in an arse kicking contest.

Just looking at the bottom of the Championship. The bottom team gave us our manager. The next two teams each gave us first team signings.

Not sure what point I'm making here.

While I'm getting all statto, I see four other teams are unbeaten in L1, only one of which we have played (Preston). Three teams have yet to win, two of which we have played (and won).

Not sure what point I'm making here either.

McWulf

1.) Yeah, both of those are pointless, haha, they may be bottom of the championship, but we are in league one so surely those signings would be good enough for our first team? And it's not that far into the season yet still 40 games left so they may well be top of the table then who knows? Haha but, then again, maybe not

2.) Yeah, all those things. I doubt Bolton will be bottom 3 nor Milwall come the end of the season. Maybe they are bottom 3 because we've got the best people from them.

I guess we can't do anything about the other teams. Let's just hope we keep going as we started. We might even set some records. The real test is when we play Orient or Posh or MK or someone like that.

3.) Yeah definitely, when is our game against Leyton orient? Because they're not a big side in this league, they're just having a good run of form, if we play them fairly soon it might be tough but I still think we'll win, whereas if it's not for a while we should win it fairly comfortably

09 Sep 2013 13:40:15
Steven Hunt trialling at Blackpool. Says he's going to take his time picking the right club.

McWulf

1.) Shame, His experience used on a pay as you play deal would be useful to Wolves

02 Sep 2013 16:04:37
Does anyone else think that our good start to the season has convinced players that staying at Wolves is a good thing?

McWulf

1.) Eh, no.

2.) To be honest McWulf I don't think there are many in the first squad that actually need convincing to stay.
Outside of that, JO'H and RJ will have to move, so they're going to need convincing to go rather than stay. You could pitch in the guys whose contracts are up Hunt, EB and maybe add Margreitter but, what the heck at this stage.
That essentially leaves Sako and Doyle. The problem there being who's going to pay Wolves-level wages (or indeed valuations)? So maybe nobody is rushing to get out.
On the other hand, if the good start is maintained will we begin to attract the right kind of players? Hmmm. There again will we need 'em? Aaagh.
wolfshead.

3.) I guess it's Sako and Doyle I'm thinking about mostly, wolfhead. They haven't handed in transfer requests and neither has anyone else. OK, some might argue that they are on good deals for their abilities. But there's usually a QPR or a Blackburn around to overpay a player with attitude.

02 Sep 2013 13:40:04
Whoever said that Sako was on his way to Liverpool perhaps got a little confused, as they have just signed a player called Mamadou Sakho!

McWulf

19 Aug 2013 16:31:09
E&S reporting that Kevin McDonald cost us only 250K. (about 6 weeks of Doyle's wages). This is a cheap league to be in!

McWulf

1.) And we have only paid £50,000 down followed by the other £200,000 paid over the course of the season.

2.) Makes a change to get a bargain, we always seam to pay over the odds for players and never make a profit, must be good wages they are on because nobody will match oharas, johnson, and now boukari they don't seam to want to go to other clubs with money they are on here

3.) Never make a profit? where have you been for the past 2 years?

4.) Were have I been for last 2 yrs, the only 2 they made a profit on are jarvis and fletcher and how much did they pay for fletcher in the first place, doyle cost 6.5mil., johnson cost what 5mil., ohara what 5mil., margariter 500 thousand played 1 game, razak bakari 2.5mi might go on loan, dombao 2.5mil on loan, s.hunt, bera, mayalouka and e.johnson went for nothing and they didn't come cheap at the time , got nothing agst doyle hope we keep him but never going to get money back we paid for him, sako looks like the one we could get profit on, and if we don't I would keep him, have I missed anybody were have you been last 3yrs

5.) Did miss another player milijas 2.5mil didn't get that money back pardon the spelling. wolfy

Well we'd love it if everyone else thought the same as us about the club. But the reality is that if Mourinho or Ancellotti are on the phone then even the most loyal players would surely be tempted and we'd presumably be pleased for them. However I really don't think other Championship teams (Leeds may disagree if they want) and bottom-half Premier team like Villa or almost all overseas teams (i.e. apart from a few in Spain, Germany and Italy) are really bigger than us.

The point is that if Kenny can keep players who are good enough motivated and involved in the campaign then chances are they will stay. Fringe players like Evans, Davis and Cassidy may not keep up with the pace, however, and could leave. Which would be right.

Sorry poster, can you help me out on your last sentence there?

Regarding Clarke, he wouldn't have been my choice, and if I were an existing striker at Wolves I'd be wondering what I need to do to get into the team. McAlinden should be playing but he's likely to be sub at best now. Siggy likewise, if he stays. Doyle and Griff must surely be away.

Back 4 and lone striker as last year, just a little tinkering in midfield seems to be consensus. And frankly, the way we played last season would have seen us beat many Championship teams anyway.

Kenny will try out new formations and I think we should expect a degree of squad rotation as we adapt formations to playing different teams.

He will do well in the Championship under Jackett just as some of our players from last season did well after they left Wolves. Derby presumably have his position covered.

Clearly there are two types of Wolves fan. Those that keep a zealous watch on what happens down the A41 and those that don't. If Albion had been relegated twice and not us I presume Wolves fans like you would be mocking the disenchanted baggies.

As you can guess from my sig I now live in Scotland, and I get the same nonsense with the national teams. All I think when I encounter these types is "you are pathetic". But I guess it depends what you want out of your football enjoyment.

Over and out.
