Not a pen for Newcastle 2nd IMO. Var taking a lot of time to state the bleeding obvious on the 1st. But fair play to the magpies coming back from 3-1 whilst losing players all over. Gordon is a s**t of a cheat with no need to be with his talents, should of gone long before he did. Great game tho Preston. Let's hope we can surprise and upset things tonight. COYW

Utter xxxx,
Can't see us winning another game rest of season
Played as if it was 0-0.
Instead of 2-0 down
How sarabia is still on the pitch
God knows, should av been subbed first

The defence just looks so poor without Dawson there to organise.

We need Cunha back ASAP.

Got to agree greyleg we weren't showing any desire to get back in the game, but, I thought sarabia was one of our better performers tonight but his energy level dropped. At the start he doyle and samedo were winning things and creating things down the right but we hadn't got anything joining in the middle. I don't mind losing but we could have put a little more into it. Bring on west ham, I fear we may be caught at Burnley if we don't get some speed into our play. It's not season over yet though.

Unbelievable, the criticism started, what is o Neil supposed to do when the squad is so stretched, we had no front line to speak of tonight, was always going to be a tall order to get anything from the game .

Sarabia was still on the pitch cause there was no one else, we've run out of players! The fact that our bench is mostly academy players (most of which don't look ready) shows our complete lack of depth I'm afraid. The game was pretty even until the subs started and after that we had no chance and when you look at both benches it's pretty obvious why! I feel a bit sorry for GON to be honest, like the managers before him he's not being given enough tools to see the job through!
We need another big shake up this summer, we can't keep having players like Podence, Guedes and Fabio draining our limited wage budget whilst they play elsewhere. Each one of those players could have helped today but they don't want to be here so time to get um gone for good and use the wages to get players that do want to be here! It's a shame cause it feels like the season is just going to fizzle out and GON performance doesn't deserve that but he doesn't have the players. For the whole first half we are the better team but we never look like scoring cause after three seasons we STILL haven't signed an actual striker! Been a good season, better than we could have hoped for. But if we want to take the next step we need to do what Villa have done and build a decent sqaud rather than just a paper thin first team. Over to you GON and Hobbs ?

I think JL must be having a wry smile. Until we get back at least 3 of our injured senior players we can't compete at least with the top sides. Villa are a good side, but they looked so comfortable in the second half. My biggest concern is that the likes of RAN, Gomes etc start to get frustrated and get itchy feet.

Bang on Bully's Boy. If you can't worry the opposition up front, then their defence bolsters their midfield. I thought we did well with limited resources, and I praise the youngsters for giving it a go, but with all three main strikers out it was a tough call.

Come on folks, GON has so little to play with. Even if we only manage a win or two in the remaining fixtures he's done a great job. We did what we had to do to avoid financial disaster pre season, and if we stay up without jeopardy its more than we could have hoped for.

You are the voice of reason Matty.
We have to remember, thanks to Shi, O'Neil has not signed a single player and had to work with a limited squad.
"Goals for" are going hard to find for the rest of the season.

Matty is right, but it's so frustrating to have come this far (better than we all expected) for it too fizzle out due to lack of squad depth. We're paying or subsiding wages to 'senior' loan players out at other clubs who I believe are doing well. In addition we have a so called wonderkid winger 'Enzo' who we signed for £5Mill who's not even making the bench, even in these desperate times. GON has done remarkable really and I sincerely hope that whoever, gives him a good budget in the summer. Bin these players off who either don't want to be here &/or can't make the grade. What JL did was unforgivable and cowardly walking out on us but maybe in hindsight his ambitions exceeded that of Shi's. We have a great first 11/13 but after that as we see throwing in youngsters who aren't ready yet. Let's hope we get something out of the Burnley game.

My question after the points made above and how well we've done in exceeding our expectations on such a small squad is that Burnley are fighting for their survival, have we got anything left for this year? Sure a win at Burnley would set up a 6 pointer against West ham but are we genuinely 'fighting ' for European football?

Understand everyone's comments.
But can only say what you see in your opinions, we all want us to do well.
I'm just relieved we are where we are, and it is down to go, and his staff, I think every supporter is entitled to an opinion. Positive or negative, how they see it.
But in the end we all love wolves
So as long as we stick together
Keep posting. And being friends
That's all that matters. To me anyway
Take care all. Coyw

The issues for me are:

Dawson is such a brilliant organiser. Kilman, Bueno and Toti are all good defenders but they will make at least positional mistake each per game which at the moment seems to being punished. Dawson has the experience to lessen this.

Up front, we do not have anyone who runs at and worries the opposition defence. What we have learnt over the last 3 or 4 games is that Fraser, Chiwera and Chiwome do not have the experience at this time. Cunha, Neto and Hwang all run at the defenders and panic them into making a mistake. Cunha is brilliant at moving the ball forward and dragging defenders out of position allowing the likes of Hwang, Neto, Lemina to take advantage.

Hopefully Cunha is back on Tuesday and Hwang not far behind him too.

Fraser, Chiwera and Chiwome may or may not prove to be the answer in the long term but it us clear that they need either to go out on loan to gain experience or need to play a bit part here by coming off the bench and playing alongside Cunha, Neto, Hwang to learn their trade.

Sarabia is garbage.and must be replaced. he's had 10 good mins all ssn. gon seems reluctant to make subs when theyr needed just like nuno.and I wouldn't be suprised if we don't win another game too

So Buxwolf, given the current injury list, who would you put in ahead of Sarabia?

I really don't get the sarabia thing. IMO he's one who tries to instigate a move. Maybe he looks poor because others aren't on the same wavelength. Reference the youngsters, poor young chimera was wanting balls played to run on to, but we kept turning back, not very adventurous tactically? Or not having confidence in the lad to hold onto the ball, or not wanting to take players to support him from defensive positions? Whatever, we've got to get something worked out in a front line. Personally I think Europe isn't an aim now, its just get whatever points we're able. Burnley could well embarrass us tues, unless of course Dawson returns and cunha is deemed fit.
A win at Burnley could well light the touch paper again and drive the team to overtake West ham sat.

I agree Abbey, I actually think Sarabia sometimes suffers because he's thinking/playing at a technically higher level than those around him. There was a classic example yesterday in the first half, where he played an filthy ball through three defenders that would have been perfectly well weighted for any player running down that flank. Sadly our players just watched it role towards the bye line! I accept he's pretty erratic and was otherwise pretty poor yesterday. But the lad has techinal ability and is capable of a class delivery (all be it once a game). He also has international caps and played for some pretty big clubs (PSG being the last one)! So agree we probs haven't seen his best but I don't think that's all on him ?
