Hi all, first time poster I am a lifelong fan and season ticket holder. I have been following this page for some time and wanted to chip in on this current thread regarding recruitment.

My word us Wolves fans seem to be a sentimental bunch, exciting new project with manager and players to boot yet still all some are saying is…. ’oh if only Afobe and Sako were here’! It seems like you get a free pair of rose tinted specs with every season ticket, to look back over past players.

Why not focus on the very fact that those players coming is realistic and why that is…I’ll tell you why because both have been completely found out at the highest level! Sako on his day in the Champ was class but mostly relied on strength to power past people whilst lacking a decent delivery, to be honest Graham (if injury free) already looks twice as good!

As for Afobe the ONLY reason he’s seen as available is because they have replaced him with a 35 year old who was playing in the MLS two years ago! Again on his day Afobe can be good but the reason he hasn’t cut it at the top is the same reason Arsenal sold him for buttons…simply not good enough at that level.

Sure he looks good in the Champ where he got three chances a game and just had to finish one but look at his stats now…10 goals in two seasons hardly setting the world a light is he?! Maybe Fosun are actually trying to build something, and you don’t do that by simply rushing out and buying a striker that you know isn’t good enough for the next level else we would be left in the unenviable position the Cherries are currently in of trying to recoup some of the money we spent on striker that will never be up to it in the Prem!

Also for those saying he didn’t have a bad game for us well he certainly did…a bad four months in fact! Never forget the game against Brum where he was like a by stander for most the match. Get a grip people and try to focus on the future and the many positives it is bringing! Neves is still the youngest captain to EVER play in the CL and this season he’ll be playing for little old Wolves…still feels a bit like a dream every time I think on it!

I’m sure we’ll get another striker but these things take time if you rush around throwing money at things you end up like Villa with Ross McCormack taking up a quarter of your wage bill with little to no chance of moving him on, we’ve already done the bomb squad thing once not again please! UTW ;)

I don't agree at all, Afobe lost all of his personal momentum by transferring to a Prem team and trying to fit into something that was already successful, he's not an arrogant enough personality.

When he joined us, he completely turned our season around, if the points tally from when he was here had been across whole season, we'd have won the league.

Fans have a problem with him because he stopped trying in the 2015-16 season, but he'd been lied to - they promised to replace Sako and didn't, sold Steareman, Morgan could see the season was a failure from the start, put the club up for sale. Afobe only stayed over the summer because M&M promised to replace Sako, then didn't, they betrayed his trust. Then expected him to waste a year of his career and development treading water in the Chump, to help cover their asses. Morgan was a playboy billionaire who expected other people to take responsibility for his gambles. It was ridiculous, of course Afobe's morale was broken and he stopped trying. He still scored loads of goals. I doubt any of our Portuguese stars would be very different if they were misled and their time wasted.

I wonder whether Stearman was sold as a way of bringing in a bit of money to offset holding on to Afobe in the summer. But it only delayed the inevitable. Assessment about the difference between chances in the Championship and in the Premiership is spot on. Look at SEB's record.

Talking a lot of sense, no one can guarantee promotion but this is the most excited the fans have been for a long time, let's just get behind the team and manager and see where it takes us.

Top post bullysboy 👍👏 sorry Ulf but obviously many fans feel the same about Afobe, in a nutshell completely unprofessional.

How was his time wasted, he got paid. Half the time he didn't try. You do that at work or you're up the road. Footballers don't show a good example to kids, he was an arrogant big fish in a small pond.

I live on the south coast and saw Afobe play 5 times last season for the cherries. He's Rubbish. Not the same as he was with us. Forget Afobe. ⚽️👍😉.

Re Studeley Wolf, these players live 24/ 7 to be best footballers they can be, especially from an academy like Arsenal and while they're still trying to make it. It is their entire life and a short career. It's not like being paid to do a 9-5 job.

Morgan and Moxey expected Afobe to tread water for a season, staying at Wolves that had given up ambition, to help them out of the hole they'd put everyone in, by not replacing Sako. I think Afobe was a victim of M&M just like the fans were, it was Moxey's sly spin doctoring to pretend we were all victims of Afobe.

Re Wolvescoast, I think the move shot his momentum and confidence, he needed to get a team promoted to the Prem and win a golden boot, and hit the Prem in a team he was already gelled with, like Andre Gray did.

Afobe is the most composed finisher we have had down the mol for several years. His performances dipped when he was in his sulking phase, but his finishing was still clinical. He was fed broken promises and no one could blame him for leaving. I would take him back tomorrow as with the superb quality we have bought this summer he has the ability to net 30+, never mind 20.

Ulf, for gods sake stop banging on about Afobe all the time. It's all we see on here of late.

He ain't coming back, we don't need him back. He had his chance, he had his day. The club- board, management, team and ambitions, have all moved on. It's a time to look forward, with anticipation, not look back through rose tinted glasses. We are moving on.
Marching on, moving on, moving up.

Afobe did well for a bit then when he needed to roll his sleeves up he went off and sulked finally got his move scored a few goals then got dropped if you're any good you prove you're worth and win your place afobe ain't done that its a new dawn and there's better things to come the door on afobe needs to remain shut I think leo will prove his worth we were all a bit uncertain of a mr bull but look how he turned out wolvesaywe.

Afobe is one of the few things M&M got right, and I suspect it was more Winkleman at MK Dons pointing him out to them and putting a good word in. He's the right fit for what we should be trying to become, at this stage of our and his development it's a perfect quality match.
