I for one am grateful for the things he did at our club. It was him who got us off the car park and onto proper training pitches. He set up the youth system which produced Robbie Keane, Lescott, Murray etc and he also signed my favourite ever player. John De Wolf. Ultimately football is a results business and his hands were tied by having Stowell, Masters, Thomas, Froggatt, Daley and Bully out for a long period at the same time. Had they stayed fit, we'd have been promoted. RIP.

{Ed001's Note - he was such a genuinely nice guy, it is a sad loss.}

Sad to see him die so young. Some top managers are still working at that age. Yes, he might not have got us promoted but he found some memorable players for us.

I met him outside the ground years ago when Geoff Thomas was riding around on the bike with no tyres. I met the whole team after training and spoke to Taylor who was frustrated as the medical team had told him that the defender he was trying to sign had an injury preventing him from ever playing at the highest level. Turns out it was Ronny Johnsen who signed for Man Utd a year later and won the European Cup in 1999.

Rip GTC

Can I just add Jason M. You are incorrect, wolves were training at pretty decent facilities way before Taylor arrived at Wolves. I can assure you on this as I was there training at the above facilities!

He did do a decent job with setting up the academy, even if he did spend very little time on the training pitches

I remember chatting to a lady in the ticket office the day that Graham Taylor was sacked - she was in tears and said he was a lovely, lovely gentleman . The rest of us can only aspire as such.
