Brilliant performance. neves back for villa. nuno please start Afobe against villa he will now be pumped up after the goal. he makes runs chases down and doesn't just stand in the middle waiting. come on me babbies.

No idea what you was watching but Bonatini worked hard tonight he was just lacking a goal he certainly wasn't just standing around.
However I do agree that Afobe should start Saturday as he will be pumped up after that cracking goal.

Didn't mention bonatini mate but considering you have I will. We're at a stage of the season where its too tense to be waiting on bonatini to come good. he is absolutely shocking. heavy first touch. doesn't shoot fast enough. looks lost. even jota had the chance to feed him in and opted not. even the commentary stated Afobe is doing something that bonatini doesn't which is run. nice guys don't win you games.

Have to agree with Rated here, Leo did pretty much everything tonight BUT score! Also agreed that Benik should start the next one, all about confidence for strikers and that shows in both of them right now!

Bonatini looked very slow last night in everything he did. I was surprised Nuno waited so long to replace him. It took Afobe only 3 minutes to get a shot on target, which happened to be a goal. It is painfully obvious that Bonatini is not our answer for the final games. Bonatini was superb in the first third of the season, but he has run out of steam and confidence and just looks lost standing and waiting for the ball. He is not helped by the excellent movement from Jota and Cavaleiro who make him look like he is running in treacle. Had we started with Afobe or Costa instead, I think the scoreline would have been much more.

Bonatini's best moves and goals come from his position play. He picks up rebounds and passes from difficult angles. Recent games haven't much been like that (except last night) . Cav has made better use of the ball and has been passing well with Jota and Costa. Neves too. Interesting that we wanted an out and out striker at the start of the season but our recent success has been the form of our number 10s.

Benik would be a more natural fit with the style of Jota and Cav just now, but only just. But let's not get carried away. He's only scored one to Leo's none in recent games.

Well done to Afobe, but I thought Leo had his best game for along time, difficult decision for Nuno on Saturday.

i thought leo had a great game linking up play chasing down defenders only thing missing was a goal there is no way nuno will start afobe on saturday he is still struggling for match fitness a well taken goal last night will not guarantee a start for him!
