I've been told tonight by someone that I trust that we will be bringing in another South American player in the next 4-5 days.
I pestered him to tell me who he was or which position it was but he replied you know I can't tell you that but a South American player will be here in 4 or 5 days.

I have heard we have enquired about Abel Hernandez. My source seems to tie up with what yours has told you?

I hope its going to be Suarez, he owes me a favour!

Leonardo Ulloa maybe? Now that Iheanacho has signed he must be surplus to requirements. Not much of a footballer, but with the good service he should get from our wingers / wing-backs he should have a field day in the Championship.

Abel Hernandez is a great shout.

I'd be happy with Ulloa!

Abel Hernandez is 26, and has zero connection to us. Would just be bought in success, we'd be a Hull me-too. I thought we needed a striker who was going to be our talisman, connected to us or young enough to become us, to concentrate our identity and add to our brand rather than undermine it.

Thelwell has the Moxey touch. Whatever the merits in terms of footballing and economy reasons, would undermine the project in other ways. I'd rather we just stuck with Dicko and Bonatini. If we're going to buy big Afobe at 24 and with a connection to us already is the only one that makes all round sense and has real brand value. That's why Bournemouth have priced him high to us, because they're clever and know he's worth that much to us. Cleverer than us / Thelwell, already in the Prem.

He was mentioned by htfc website last week they said he would be ideal fit for our style of play.

Yeah this is hear say. I reckon as it's gone quiet wolves have the deal already done. I see two coming from Gray, Afobe and Gallagher. As Gallagher has been touted this week I would say we aren't after him and he was a lambert target. Fosun want premiership football and these two will provide it. With regards to the loan from premiership I reckon it will be afobe. With an option to buy at the end. This keeping us in the remit of FFP but also allowing security for every party involved. There will be many reasons for the hold up mainly to save face of the clubs losing the players and finding replacements. Wolves have it sorted. Also the information from the club indicates this Nuno stating that they are still after quality additions and the Working with Wolves documentary tonight indicates there is going to be a buzz around the club.
Also note the excellent work of the club to create an atmosphere tomorrow I can't wait. Change the ticket prices for one season? Let's get the atmosphere back! UTW.

Blimey, Ulf, there's no stopping you and your brand fetish. Personally I think Afobe could do with branding, maybe with "keep out of Molinuex" after his sulky no show performances in his last 9 months for us. No excuse for that whatsoever as he's a professional footballer and was being paid handsomely.

12.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 13:39:43
Will you stop harping on about Afobe, he is yesterday's man and there are much better options available. He may have appeared good at the Mol when he was there but a whippet would have been better at that time.

13.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 14:16:09
Ulf you seriously spout utter crap! The only thing that affects a football clubs brand is its league position! You can win the premier league with a team of complete reprobates and you will still be loved. Chelsea haven't been affected by costa, man utd weren't affected by keane, liverpool weren't affected by Suarez. You are so deluded its ridiculous.

14.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 14:18:46
Re oldwulf its just how my head works, I have a feel for identity so it gets in the way when its wrong. It's a particular issue for Wolves because we're meant to be reinventing ourselves, after M&M got it so wrong. And I don't agree, I think like lots were wrong about RVLP, who left us to get promoted to Prem with Huddersfield, scored against us, their local paper were describing him as sensational toward end of last season. Putting a shift in can't compete with flair, and flair is often temperamental and difficult.

Overall, I wish the transfer window shut when the season started.

04 Aug 2017 14:20:13
Do you work in marketing Ulf?

16.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 14:25:01
Hernandez would be quality. 99% of wolves fans are really excited and enjoying these great signings being brought in and really optimistic about the future of our club. Just enjoy the ride.

04 Aug 2017 14:56:20
re clivewolves, yes, by accident. I was working in a call centre of the Bank Lerner used to own and they put me into marketing and had me professionally educated and qualified. Then I worked for Ladbrokes / the Football Pools for a while. Made them stupid money before I dropped out :-) It's not nice selling debt and gambling. I should do something nice.

04 Aug 2017 15:19:28
Ulf, I don't doubt that you're sincere, but I have a brand new suggestion. Stop rabbeting
on about "brand". You must be the only fan in the world going on about brand. Ask your typical fan what he wants for his football club. He will mostly answer: The title. Promotion. The Champions League. Etc. In your case you will answer: I want to improve our brand! Look mate, they don't give awards, cups, titles or promotions for best brand. I know I'm wasting my time writing this, you will still be all over every Wolves site like a rash, going on about our brand.

Ulf you really are an oxymoron wrapped in a conundrum, so in the past week here are just three entirely conflicting points which you consistently harp on about:
1. You claim to have a strong background in branding and use it as a basis for us getting Afobe whilst seemingly entirely missing that very re-branding for the club which you bang on about. So Fosuns consistent message in every new managers interview has been ‘The strength of the wolf is in the pack’…. tell me how does signing a sulky, want away striker that put his own ambitions before the teams reinforce that message exactly?
2. When not talking about Afobe you are lambasting Thelwell, without realising he was almost certainly the man who bought both RVP and your favourite player to the club!
3. You also bang on about what a disgrace us taking money from money shop is…. then just admitted that you yourself used to make good money from working with gambling companies! Gambling is about the only thing which is responsible for FAR more pain and destruction in the average house hold! Glass houses and all that fella!
I don’t mind all the nonsense but at least try and make it consistent nonsense eh?! ;)

There have been no links from us about this guy but he has been linked with Tottenham do u think Giovanni Simeone would be a good shout?

22.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 16:38:14
My guess would be it's someone we have never heard of and we will all be on Google looking at highlight reels as soon as he is announced. Either that or it's a huge name that none of us would expect, maybe chicarito.

{Ed001's Note - he joined West Ham a few days ago, so not Javier Chicarito Hernandez.}

23.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 16:59:24
Yes Deep Throat, but then as well, the average fan didn't believe we were worth a buyer like Fosun, didn't believe we were particularly worth someone spending big to push us back up to the top. Since Morgan put the club up for sale I've consistently stated we were worth it (in face of much ridicule), and our brand potential justified precisely what Fosun have embarked on. I realise Fosun see opportunities in China that I never considered, but they’ll be bigger opportunities the bigger we are domestically and in the West. We were the best club anyone serious could have bought.

I agree football success is primary, but it's only a vehicle to generate revenue to cycle back in, to generate ever more profile and support. That support will be much easier to achieve, it will grow faster bigger and further, the more inclusive and attractive the brand is and the more integrity it has. It needs to be heroic, older strikers with no connection to us brought in to do a job is mercenary, a bit cynical, and not very heroic. If these are the roots of our revolution, because in 10yrs we’ll be massive, the more integrity they have the better, it’s part of our reinvention and will be part of our identity. It’s not architecture it’s like a painting to me, some things just don’t fit or have the wrong texture, other things are just naturally right. I’m keen on Afobe because he already fits.

Once the season has started and I can gel with the new team, I’ll be happy, glad when the transfer window shuts so can just support the team. I'd support whoever is in the team and playing / trying for us.

Old Wulf, I'm not trying to compete or say anyone else is wrong, I'm just sharing feel and vision I know is right, that would optimise the club overall. We're going to be enough of a success regardless :-)

BullysBoy.

Oxymoron wrapped in a conundrum? Love it.

've noted serious inconsistencies in Ulf's ramblings and sometimes readied myself to respond, but by which time he's posted multiple more ramblings and I can't keep up. Scatter-gun approach.

I'm reminded of someone much wiser than me who once said:
"It's better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and confirm it".

I don't think it will b gray Afobe or Gallagher it will possibly b someone we've never heard of fosun now what there doing Nuno stated already there not finished on transfers it will b big if we only playing one striker up front it's got to b a 20 to 25 goal man and we need him quick.

Dickens Nazon loan deal until January. Worth following his progress as a return to Wolves in January will have him up to speed if he has the ability. If not then we will offload. Good move all around.

Deepthroat you hit the nail on the heaf with your last quote!

31.) 04 Aug 2017

Re BullysBoy

1) I’m not a brand architect, you have to be posh to do that. I’m an artist who can just see what’s real. The strength of the wolf is in the pack, is from this Chinese commercial ideology, that’s a fusion of Capitalist aggression and Communist community – they compete, but in and for community. It perfectly matches us and our heritage / Black Countries small/ medium enterprising history:

Wolf Totem

2) I wonder if Thelwell is identifying people by stats, not realising it’s not about being tradesmen who will do a shift. I fear some of M&M’s flawed understanding of the World has rubbed off on Thelwell, the way they threw Afobe under the bus for not putting a shift in when they’d broken his morale implies zero clue about flair. Maybe seen in how RVLP was treated and thrown under a bus too. He’s now sensational, according to their local press.

Obviously though, if that was a problem, Mendes and Nuno is the fix, obviously great with flair. I'll forget it all once we've effectively replaced Afobe, which we never did. I hope Bonatini clicks.

3) I didn’t aim to do that work it just happened to me, I didn’t market for loan sharks, only credit cards and only marketed pools / lottery things, not hard core gambling. And I did end up dropping out, after making the Ladbrokes subsidiary that was supposed to be a declining business so much money they ended up on front of Hilton Groups annual report. Magic :-)

32.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 18:54:37
At the end of the day we all want the best for our great club. I as much as the next man.
If that means Afobe Gray or whoever NES decides is the man to get the goals it doesn't matter we all want the same and that is the Wolves in the premier league at the end of the season.

33.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 20:08:50
Abel Hernandez in my opinion would be better than all the other striker links we've had so far bar maybe Gray. He is also Uraguain which is in line with what Tiptonwolf has been told. If we recruit in any other position for our next signing other than a striker the owners need their heads testing.

34.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 20:47:27
I agree bigcheese, in so much I don't doubt Fosun will succeed and get us to the Prem, hopefully this Season. I think we've got the best possible owners and have an interesting and exciting future :-)

35.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 23:43:54
I don't get the excitement about the possibility of either Hernandez from Hull or Ulloa from Leicester. Don't nt rate either of them at all. For me neither are in the same class as Aboubakar, Afobe or Gray. I do think we will bring in another striker but like others on here have said it's likely to be another one we've never heard of before.
