Shane long ( didn't want to come back midlands)
Mitrologu (offers still on table)

If we've missed out on Afobe because of fee, but are willing to pay what they wanted for Afobe or more for Andre Gray, there's a screw loose at Wolves somewhere.

I'm going to guess Thelwell, who hasn't a clue about brand, just like Moxey didn't, and is continuing Moxey's mistakes. Carry on like this, those cartoon wolves are going to look less gothic and Liberty, and more street graffiti and urban.

Only reason I say Gallagher is because - gray cost to much - afobe would be here if wanted come - Nakki wells not good enough and olivera not been pursued as far as I know which leaves Gallagher out all names we been linked to if does come be a loan I would think.

If Dicko goes there will be two strikers brought in.
I expect gray and a loan Gallagher/ afobe.

If Dicko goes I couldn't care less, he's lost his spark since his injury. I beleive we'll sign someone who we haven't been linked to like Bonatini deal which came out of nowhere🔶⚫️🔶⚫️.

If it's simply the case Afobe refuses to come back and they have offered the right money, it's him refusing to accept terms, then I guess Andre Gray makes sense if he would sign. I've no doubt he'd get us promoted, and maybe our glam would rub off on him, we could rehabilitate his image :-)

Bloody hell Ulf your vanity has no limits! Do you walk around with a mirror all day?
God only knows what you think of the fans with piercings, tattoos, rip off scarfs it's no good for brand wolves is it? Haha I hope you have a holiday booked you need a rest.
What would Diego Costa do for brand wolves? 😂😂😂.

Throw in the mix afobe hasn't played in the last two Bournemouth friendlies. 'sickness'for the weekend though and 18 players including defoe got a run out in the one before interesting.

My vanity? I'm talking about the club and the money Fosun are throwing around to bring in quality, I guess it's going to continue beyond this season if we get to Prem. I still think Afobe is a better fit and 2yrs younger with more potential to develop, but it could be good if Andre Gray came back and had matured, he could be a good example for local kids and turn the negatives into big positives.

And I don't think you understand at all, this is about how the club appears beyond its local market. Staffs, Shrops, Nationally, how others might be drawn into supporting it.

Chill Ulf. There are things the club could do to get fans to come from Shropshire and Staffordshire. I think a starting point would be to communicated with local wolves clubs and offer transport to home games. Also reduce tickets for mid week games. It is hard to get to Wolverhampton from certain points in Shropshire for example bridgenorth to Wolverhampton as trains are limited. But the club could over come this with a bus similar to airports. But Rome wasn't built in a day. Reality is people will come if the football is good. And we had been messed around by moxey and co for to long. UTW.

Could Omar Bougle from Wigan be an option? Wigan has said he can leave. And, many we are getting him and Lee Evans was apart of the deal. Thoughts.

My brief thoughts on brand only go as far as getting a brand new striker in. I don't care if he's posh or chavvy as long as he scores goals.

How can we get fans from Shrops and Staffs? Get to the top of this league and stay there! That's how. Like the film The Field of Dreams, people will come.

01 Aug 2017 11:06:39
Yes, success on the pitch will dictate, but I don't doubt Fosun will get the quality to achieve it. We were always going to be massive :-)

I'm quite into the idea of Andre Gray now if he came, if he has matured, his edgy background could make him a great role for the edgy local kids who are the ones who most need a role model. I was just shocked by them apparently giving up on Afobe not willing to pay more than £10m, but had offered £20m for Gray.

24.) 01 Aug 2017
01 Aug 2017 11:29:56
Well played Ulf.
Open to change, we all need to get together, Fosun are doing their part, the gates Will rise.
When does anyone on this site remember an opening day sellout, (it's not because Boro are coming is it? )

The feel good factor is here.

If (big if) we are interested in Afobe or Gray, but we rate Gray double the value of Afobe, there must be a reason. We should trust in Nuno's judgement.

Maybe Nuno sees Gray as more likely to succeed in the PL with us, compared to Afobe?

26.) 01 Aug 2017
01 Aug 2017 11:55:49
It's mental isn't it, but it is our destiny, we're going to be massive. And although it will take a lot longer, it's going to help the City get back on its feet too :-)

27.) 01 Aug 2017
01 Aug 2017 12:23:22
To be fair I think we should take each step at a time build connection with fan base again. Look at selling out corner as well (with a roof) . Make the team strong and with a distinct style. Aim for silverware every season what ever it is. League, league cup and fa cup. That must be one of the aims of Fosun.
They may well help the city but that is going to be by working with the council and other parties. It would be good to preserve traditional buildings as well. IMO

If they are willing to spend much more on Gray, it will be because Mendes is his agent, and it's part of the merry go round. Or maybe its because Thelwell criticising him when he left, burnt all bridges regardless how much they offer.

I think Afobe has the greater potential. Stats are comparable but he's 2 years younger so could improve to become better, and I think he's stalled his progression by moving to Prem how he did, trying to fit into an already successful team, compared to Gray who made himself much more famous getting his team promoted from the Prem, winning a golden boot in the process, and able to hit the ground running in the Prem in a team he's already fitted into.

Gray had every reason to have full confidence in the Prem, I don't think Afobe has had that, so there may be much more in him to come through. I think Nuno, and getting promoted to the Prem with us, in the Prem in a team he's a central part of, could turn Afobe into a very big star.

29.) 01 Aug 2017
01 Aug 2017 12:37:17
I think the opening day sell out is largely due to the cheap tickets Stu plus the opening day feel good factor obviously . A lot of Wolves fans are pretty fickle so watch the gates drop if we don't start too well.

Edgy local kids are edgy local kids because that is how you, Ulf perceive them. For a start, the use of a collective term to describe what are as much individuals as you are, denies them their individuality. I don't think you understand! It is attitudes like yours that is at the root of much that is wrong with society today and why it is so difficult for 'edgy local kids' to have that equality of opportunity that doubtless you bang on about.

31.) 01 Aug 2017
01 Aug 2017 14:02:35
When you put it like that about the crowd, you're right, they've gone out of their way to ensure a full house, it's an investment in trying to get some proper momentum going from the start. On that basis, throwing £20m on a star striker to guarantee it's a success right from the start would be chicken feed in the scheme of things and I reckon a good idea.

Go on Fosun, buy Afobe AND Gray, in time for Saturday. You know it makes sense.

The difference in the respective values of Adobe and Gray is clearly their performance on the premiership stage. One has proved himself virtually unplayable physically, courageously leading the line in Bully fashion and creating many of his own chances. The other has had difficulty establishing himself and just lime in his last season has dropped deeper and deeper seeming reluctant to lead the line. Afobe only really established himself towards the end of the season in a supporting role to Josh King. Afobe may present better at a social event, but ask any premier league centrebacks who they would rather face and that would help explain their respective values.

Re Scottish, no it's not how I perceive them, I dropped out and know the edgy underclass very well (in Northwest rather than Wolves, but I guess it's similar) . Gray would be very influential locally, could be a bad or very good example, and we are a family club with a classy background, and hopefully a classy future. I’ve thought it through though and think now he might have matured enough to be a great example. Outwardly, that would look great.

Re victory v, yes I agree Gray is much more about being fierce and making it happen. And he was able to take all his confidence from getting Burnley promoted and winning a golden boot for it, into the Prem and hit the ground running, in a team already gelled around him. But I'm not sure that's what we need, someone who makes it happen in a team built to move the ball and create chances, whereas Afobe linked up play and, as the crowd chanted, scored when he liked.

I think Afobe has stalled in the Prem because he joined an already successful team and had to start from scratch fitting in. He lost his personal momentum. I think if he got promoted to Prem with us, under Nuno's coaching, he could become a big Prem star.

Also, Afobe hasn’t done bad in the Prem, while Burnley fans seem to think they need better than Gray for the Prem. On their forum they seemed to conclude if you took out his goals and assists last season, they’d have still stayed up, and only want to keep him so if they relegated, he’ll get them re-promoted. They seem to have concluded he’s a killer Champ player rather than the business in the Prem. Maybe Nuno could improve him, but that’s true of Afobe too, whose 2 yrs younger and more potential to develop, especially if he got his confidence back.
