Jas,
Not wanting to be a party pooper, but, I saw that report and immediately thought this: when did we last sign a player and make him captain? Answer: 2012 in the PL when we signed Roger Johnson. It immediately upset the dressing room. I'm sure Miranda is light years a better player than Johnson was, but I'm not sure about throwing him into the deep end with the captaincy as well. I'd give it to Dave Edwards.

Deepthroat, you're very wrong. The last player we signed and made Captain was Sam Ricketts. Batth will be club captain and Miranda the team captain. 2 different roles.

Jas do I remember rightly that this happened with Bully?

I can't remember Bully ever being the full time captain. I remember Peter Shirtliff, Geoff Thomas, John De Wolf and Keith Curle being our regular skippers during the 1990's and Bully filling in if they were injured.

Prime examples are: Alan Hansen club captain at Liverpool and Ronnie Whelan team captain. Same as Brtan Robson and Steve Bruce at Man Utd as well as Ledley King and Robbie Keane at Spurs.

Lol Deep Throat shot down by Jas ouch.

Edwards as Captain?

I'm hoping he doesn't even make the starting 11 this season never mind be captain.

I'm hoping for a midfield that can pass the ball and not just run around clueless.

Edwards our most consistent player. Hardly ever injured or booked or substituted. Puts a few in the net too. Knows this division as well as anyone.
