Just looked at his playing record and managerial record. Not great reading I'm afraid.

If its him we need to give him a chance, problem is we are now back to square one again. A whole season lost, no lessons learned. But maybe, just maybe he will click and get us out of this league into the promised land.

Another Mendes disaster in the making. Expect his troops to fall in then fall out again next year. Not impressed with his involvement at all. 👎😢.

Banbury, took a second rate team up and got Valencia into the champions league. Also got Porto to finish second losing two games all year. that's not good enough?

I'm not optimistic, a combination of Santo and Mendes could be a disaster. Look at his second season with Valencia when he and Mendes brought in a load of 2nd rate Portugese players. Valencia in chaos and fans not impressed [compounded when they then appointed Gary Neville! ].

His credentials are far higher than where we are now! Imo a positive move from Fosun 👍.

@banburywolf? How is his managerial record not good enough?

Are you jokein what he's done in football at the age of 43 lol clsss.

I can't believe some of the negative comments above. Santo is a disaster? We're not Barcelona you know. Santo is class, in fact probably the classiest coach we have been linked with. His record is easily good enough for Wolves. We will be lucky to get him.

I don't know. I've given up for the time being!

His time at Rio Ave was incredible, he led Valencia to a good finish in Spain and finished 2nd with Porto? Somebody tell me a better manager that we could attract?
Win % of 47% over his 3 jobs. Can't believe some of our fans think it will be a bad appointment?! Yes I'd never heard of him before he was mentioned and when I 1st heard his name I thought not another Zenga! But after research about him it filled me with excitement.

It looks like a positive move until you see all the involvement from Mendes, then it all starts to get very murky. My preferred candidate from the Portuguese shores was always Marco Silva. There's something about that coach that tells me he's got what it takes quite apart from the fact he has a good track record. Can't wait for another influx of Portuguese players, most of whom have no experience in our leagues. HC was an exception to that I admit, but we had to pay good money for him and that by and large is the gist of it - to get good players they cost! We need various additions to the team, most of whom will cost money if they are proven and quality. Just can't see us getting off this roundabout whilst Mendes has the level of involvement he appears to have?! I want to be optimistic, but find myself being more realistic. The cup is half full, but while he still has involvement the other half is still half empty! :-)

Lol not here even 12 months and it's mendes this that. do you won't to go and look how many players we got that was on his books? O the class 2 wingers no one ever heard of. broke records twice in a week lol some of you need to chill . we had 3 weeks to get players in and a manger. some worked ie Costa cav even silvo in 3 games. John was injured . wot as mendes done so rung. now if we only got 3 players you all would be saying were the money your ripping us off. just can't win. just like nuno never heard of him but did you costa rav Swiss? Tbf I like prince tho he was growing each game 'him or savil? . give them time they even said 3 years and a 10 year plan. chill you beans lads. could be a Coventry fan.

For me santo sounds a great appointment if we get him he's by far the best we've had for along time I think he's got a good track record with Valencia and Porto it was when Neville was manager that things went wrong for Valencia santo left before that he should b able to attract quality players to wolves.

Anyone who has read my posts will know my views on Mendes so I will not repeat them again. But I must disagree with you Dappa about two class wingers - Cav, as far as I an concerned is a waste of £7m. He does not have the desire, workrate or attitude and thinks he's Ronaldo with his step overs, with poor final ball.

Also Saiss is a walking yellow card who keeps giving the ball away. Price and Evans can do that! Costa was the only successful signing last season.

StattoWolf I have to totally disagree with you on cav. You either don't watch many games or youcertainly do not watch his movement off the ball both offensively and defensively. Costa may have had much more of an impact in terms of goals etc. But honestly the work rate between them is totally different Costa struggles working back defensively but Cav is always willing to bust a gut to help out at the back. At first he wasn't but his learned that side of the game. Also just like I heard many fans when Costa first came into the team saying he was too lightweight and wasn't good enough but he proved them wrong. Many people seem to forget that Cav played a lage portion of games carrying an injury such was his desire to play! and his influence when he came back into the team fit was a defining moment in us staying up from a personal point of view. Not just from his own performance but the lift he provided to those around him as Costa even upped his game back to his standards after a bit of a bad spell. Those two fully fit will be a complete menace next season. Also in terms of his desire, work rate and attitude against forest at home coady may well get accredited with the block on the line but don't underestimate Cavs part in the fact he raced his nuts off to get back and then flung himself into a challenge to stop the initial effort allowing coady time to get back. As fantastic as costa has been he would never have done the same as Cav in that situation. But I suppose that's because Cav has no desire no workrate and a poor attitude.

Imo Saiss is a red card waiting to happen.

18.) 26 May 2017
26 May 2017 15:53:31
Sbrek, we will have to agree to disagree about Cav. I have seen plenty of matches where he has not had the desire to chase back, where he has been doing step over after step over and then not getting crosses in (which is his job as a winger) . I am not saying he has been awful in every game, but over the course of the season he has not shown consistency and there have been plenty of games where he has been anonymous.

He has not impressed me with his desire or end product and his red card just summed up that he was not ready to roll his sleeves up to help the team.

So price side passing Edwards with out goals headless chicken' savil ect have done better that mendes signing come on . its there first seasingle in UK and thay would easy be the first two looked at to be sold. red card saiss lol I remmber we loved Kevin mustcst.

26 May 2017 17:56:52
Like I said, I've not been impressed. Saiss loses the ball too often and is sloppy in possession. His first touch has been poor leading to reckless tackles and bookings. Just saying that he has been no better than what we have got. Again, my opinion. Would prefer to see Oniangue given a run, at least he got on the scoresheet.

Plus I don't think that Mendes is his agent and I definitely didn't name Saville in my post as he is heading for my Worst Alltime XI!

21.) 26 May 2017
26 May 2017 23:07:05
Fair enough statto each to their own opinion, but I think you put cav in a good footballing system and you'd see how good he can be as he did make a huge difference when he came back from injury and has huge potential, I wouldn't say his red card against derby was not wanting to roll his sleeves up more so frustration and stupidity. As concerns the crossing situation half the time there's no one in the box and the other half the time it's 4ft Dicko against 6 ft odd centre halves and given the goal scoring record of our strikers last season I'd refuse to put the ball in the box!

22.) 27 May 2017
27 May 2017 08:34:53
If we can keep Costa we have 4 quality wingers dying for a new striker to get on the end of their crosses and build up play. RW Costa or Marshall LW Cav or Graham. Looks good to me!
